Reception and catering staff welcoming. Location right on the front by the pier would be good in the summer. Hotel has a lift and on-site parking. Cheap and cheerful stop-over on way north.
Had to pay on arrival and book/pay for dinner in advance. Credit card charge of £2 and debit card charge of 50p every time you use it - make sure you have an adequate supply of cash. Cash only at bar and parking charged extra! Dinner was buffet style with limited selection and very average quality. My single room was at the back with an obscured window. Room had obviously recently been repaired and lacked paint in a place or two. Tiles around the shower and sink had not been wiped down properly. However, the towels were clean and soft.
I liked the size of the room, the food and the bingo.
The television in our room and the cabaret act.
Can't beat this hotel for its position. Very close to shops, bars, tower and right on the front. £29 double room b&b, can't go wrong!
Room was very small (G5) hotel was a little tired.
Room had not been cleaned and had to be moved
Excellent location, arguably the best in town. Beautiful architecture; inside and out.
Food and service were not of a standard befitting the hotel. Rooms were very small; smaller than rivals. The windows were filthy. Furniture was old, worn and broken. The bed had been broken and bodged back together several times, resulting in a poor nights sleep. Though complimentary, if there's a cheaper brand of coffee available I'm yet to see/taste it. I would suggest the management visit their rivals and see how far behind the GM has fallen in the standards expected from one of Blackpools most famous hotels.
the building was beautiful. The size location and appearance was stunning. From the outside it looked great.
lack of customer focas by the staff. the place was dirty and was in need of a complete makeover
Great location. Lovely jacuzzi bath Friendly staff Beautiful art deco interior Didn't try food so could not comment For £35, very pleased
Location and the happy hour at the bar where basic beer and lager were well priced. The rooms were warm and cosy. The breakfast buffet was pretty decent.
Cheap toilet paper. Bring your own!
that you need to stipulate non smoking because this hotel still has a smoking floor and smoking rooms and if you don't say non smoking that's where you end up !
For £39 including an excellent breakfast this was the perfect choice so I could have a beer during a concert at the nearby Tower Ballroom rather than driving. My wife and I thought the hotel very clean with helpful staff. We had two minor problems which were recified instantly. The hotel is undeniably in need of restoration but the former grandeur of this magnificent building is there form all to see. Had a former Prime Minister not cancelled plans for Blackpool to become a British Las Vegas I wouldn't have been able to afford to stay there. It would be restored by now and rooms would cost much more than I could afford. A great pity.
the food was good and service by the staff in the dinning room
the television in the room needs to be updated. it was an old one with only the five channels.
requested a sea view room with bath rather than shower and got it no problem room was nice and warm when we arrived also
main room downstairs was freezing while we waited for our room
I liked the location very central for the the shops; theatres and the tram stop very close. I found the staff very friendly. Great entertainment. The food was excellent.the bedroom was clean
When i was there in early December the heating in the bedroom was not working very well and it got very cold at one time also the heating was not very good in the little cafe cum bar.
late evening characters around.night staff very friendly. food was brilliant eat as much as you like going
Good value, good location for both town and beach (weather permitting ) nice clean room with a jacuzzi bath. Staff were very helpful too. All in all a pleasant short stay for the price we paid.
Room with a seav view, just as I had asked for Breakfast was very good Room temperature Bed was comfortable, all the group had a good nights sleep
Entertainment Room could have been cleaner & shower head very loose
The entertainment was excellent as was the location
The hotel was freezing cold when we went into the foyer and main lounges. We were told that the heating only came on in two hour bursts!
Bedroom to small
The room was freezing , lighting very poor , carpets hadn't been hoovered properly as sweets under the bed
The hotel location for all amenities. Quite a grand looking hotel in hallway and stairs.
On one side of the hotel facing out into the street was very noisy and very draughty from the poorly insulated windows, with the seal hanging from the windows was quite a poor site to see. the hotel parking is extremely limited and the hotel seem to have no real control of allocated spaces.
Location is great as it's so close to the centre
The hotel was really dirty with stains all over the carpets.
Staff very accommodating and location good
Checked in at 4 and the room had not been cleaned bed not made bins and dirty cups they swapped my room straight away
Cleanliness of room and bathroom
Room very close to other and could people in their room. Also key fobs were not working when we arrived and we had difficulties getting not room as we had to wait on staff to let us in.
