A good clean comfortable room. Something should be done about the central area where kitchen exhaust pipes are situated. This is infested with pigeons and is extremely unhygenic The dining room staff were excellent however the receptionist was completely uninterested in assisting guests. We had some difficulty accessing the parking area but she did not help in any way. She did not advise how to get out of the car park when we left and we were forced to leave the car and return inside to find out the method to be used. It is a shame that she dragged down the standard of the remainder of the staff.

I spent Sept 8 at this hotel, and the most pleasant aspect of my stay was my departure by taxi, it was prompt. The Grand Metropole backs onto nightclubs that discharged their clients at 4.00am, it was the noisiest I have experienced, hundreds of shouting nightclubbers kept me awake until 5.00am. Having requested a sea view room away from the night clubs, I was most dissapointed, and being in a smoking area, after asking for non smoking room, it was a let down. The room in question was a double, and was immaculate, but it was for smokers, I could smell smoke. I did ask to be moved and I offered to pay more, but was told the hotel was full, this I found incredible considering the amount of people there. I would rather they told me that no rooms of my choice were available at the time of booking, or on my arrival, but I only found out after I had paid. There were more hotels to choose from, I asked them for a specific room type and was ignored,.... it looks like the cash is more important than a satisfied client. I do not reccomend this hotel, the dining experience, ... forget it!

The sea facing view and the large roomy room was great. Although the hotel is on the prom it is only minutes from main shopping centre. Room very quiet and well heated. The hotel has its own raised walk way at the front of the car park which is within the hotel grounds. Great for some sea air just before bed when there is no access to the prom. The work going on at the sea front and tram lines is very inconvenient (in fairness I don't think this is the hotels fault.) Because of diversions, driving in B/pool is a nightmare at present. The north area seems quite run down with 'beggar' types in closed shop doorways. Once again this is not the fault of the hotel. We walked within the hotel grounds after dark and it was ok.

We went for the blackpool dance festival and therefore the location was great, it was only a 7 min walk to the front door of winter gardens. On the paper we were handed upon arrival, it said "free upgrade" - I can't judge that, but we were given room 386, a very nice room located at a corner, I.E. with a beautiful seaview from two windows. Very glad to have smoker room. An early check-in of 90 min was charged with 15pounds, if paying with credit card an additional 2pd charge would be added; we received 2 towels per person (one bigger, one smaller one) which were not changed during our stay; the windows are dirty, in summer it definetely can become very hot, since you can open only one of the windows a crack, the second could not be opened at all; the guests are mainly working class, so be aware of a very noisy breakfast room where tables are really put very close to each other with many guests obviously have no manners at all, sitting there in a tanktop, screaming around, fighting for dishes at the buffet, really made me cringe during the whole time; variety is acceptable for the price (fried egg, scrambled eggs, bacon, sausages, tomatoes and beans on the warm buffet; just toast bread, once deepfried as substitution to potatoes, once conveniently ready toasted; cornflakes, choco popcs, no cereals, two choices of fruits from cans, two joghurts, two jams, butter, orange juice) twice our thermos jug we were given with thin black coffee was taken away by the employees without any word of explanation or excuse to serve another table and then brought back to us on the table, a behaviour completely inacceptable to me; wlan only works in the lobby, location is great but if I imagine my room to be a "free upgraded" room (still: small bath, only shower, no extra towels), I don't want to see the "normal" rooms. Unfortunately I guess it might also have a lot to do with the behaviour of their guests paying no respect to the house and its facilities. I wonder what the refurbishment program mentioned on their webpage consists of, I have only observed people painting the entrance door, bearing the location and the size of the hotel in mind, there is really a lot left for improvement and make it a great hotel.

The hotel is close to the town and the tower. My husband and i only stayed for bed and breakfast, that was nice. the hotel is big and very spacious. Lift to all floors. Service at the bar, fairly quick. i would use this hotel again, as i use this for quickness for the town and nightlife. The rooms are basic, clean, but some rooms have quite a bit of damp. Some of the staff seem to have attitude problem and come across as quite rude. The lift goes to all floors, but once you are out of the lift you can walk a far distance to your rooms, going up and down small stairs and walking long corridors. the breakfast is nice, but wouldn't recommend the evening meal, the fish was cheap frozen fish, pasta dishes not nice and meat very tough. Its just as cheap to eat out rather than pay extra for the evening meal. The hotel is big, but apart from the bar, theres not a lot to do in there. Ok for just chilling or using it as a base just to sleep. We stayed on the lower ground, we couldnt get a signal on our phone, the other rooms on the floors we could. Wouldnt recommend the lower ground.

Location, and breakfast. I stayed in room 181 the view from window overlooked a dirty internal roof. The shower was not working properly, and the light kept going on and off in the bathroom, and the smell of sewage, came out of the plug hole when you flushed, I booked for two nights sat/sun, but left early sunday evening to go home to a decent bed. Also one female staff on reception ignored me when I dropped the key in the slot and I ssaid thankyou twice, and she never replied, which I think was very rude indeed.

Central location within walking distance of main attractions Cleanliness of public areas left a lot to be desired. Restaraunt meals were poor and presented in a rather slapdash manner. Lifts were dingy. We booked a premier room which was clean but poorly furnished I dread to think what the standard rooms were like! All in all a big disappointment.

Room had a view of quad overlooking kitchens which were noisy but view not really a issue as window covered in bird droppings. £2 charge to use debit card to pay for booking and was not given the option to nip out to cash machine unless I wanted to put our stuff back into the car as they would not issue the key.always seemed to be people complaining when we passed main desk. Literally went straight out and stayed out till ready to sleep. Very very poor

Probably the breakfast which was serve yourself with as much as you wanted, although the choice was limited. We were given a free upgrade to what was called a partial sea view room. It had the sea view but it was small and narrow suggesting to us that it was half of an original room. The bathroom was reasonable although there was mould on some of the tile grouting. If you want fresh towels they needed to be placed in the bath not on the edge as we did.We also did not think the room was as clean as it should have been with dust on the TV screen and wall pictures. The dining room was a shocker as there were no cloths on the tables and the quality of the food was canteen standard at best.

It's seafront location. The Free Upgrade to a comfortable sea view room. Restaurant had an uninspiring unimaginative menu - so didn't dine there. Entertainment poor. Cabaret limited and bingo!!!!

Location This Terrible hotel is very poor, the staff are miserable and some are rude. The room was shabby and the beds hard. The bathroom was dirty with hairs all over the place and a dirty towel topped it off. Breakfast was poor as well no glasses for juice the food looked disgusting. This hotel is in a prime location and could easily be the best hotel in blackpool if the owners decide to get in the correct manager, I paid £89 got a twin room and for £3 you could go to the Hilton that was my mistake don't make it yourself. In a nut shell the worst hotel I have ever been to.

We have stayed at the Grand Metropole on numerous occassions and enjoy its location and facilities very much, it is ideally suited near the main shopping area, and provides us withthe opportunity to park the car up and walk everywhere we wish to go, as well as providing us with every facility, food, drink etc, all very good thanks.

Location is excellent. Free parking was a gret plus point. Room was warm, clean and quiet. hotel is a little dated and guests are mainly older people on coach trips but that didnt bother us. We booked this last minute and got a good rate and I would stay there again for the same money. Breakfast not as good as I have had elswhere. Breakfast staff seemed to focus more on those people who were there all week and less interested in other guests.

The location is great for the nightlife all within walking distance. The lack of parking spaces in the hotel car park as the general public can use it you need to arrive quite early to get a space.

The prices in the hotel bars were very high and with several bars just across the road much cheaper the hotel bars were not very well used, also the hotel staff were not at all welcoming, on check in I was met by a receptionist who did not seem to know what a smile was and who just handed me the key without telling me what floor I was on or where the lift was.

The location of the hotel is brilliant. So near to shopping centre and to the prom and beach. The room had a magnificent sea view. The room was spacious I found the staff pleasant and helpful. I had altered my booking to include an extra day stay. The staff managed to allow me to keep the same room and although I had to book out and back in it was done with little fuss or disruption. There was a problem with clean towels but the reception managed to sort it out. Tele was a bit (lot) dated and looks like it is on its last legs. No heating in room. In the evening it can still be chilly even in summer time.
