The bedroom & bathroom were fine , except it didn't have a window . Acceptable to me for one night .
The sea views was excellent , the meals were good
Room not very clean ,could not open window
Budget room no seagulls !
Queue at reception, but it was a very busy weekend.
The food was excellent hot staff very helpful and polite
The room was a little dated and the bathroom wasn't as expected
The location, room basic but clean, not a bad price,
Noise from staff early morning, building impressive but looking very shabby and tired, rooms in need of modernisation, Cabaret was very poor and aimed towards pensioner's, not enough bar staff late on so had to queue for quite a while to get served, breakfast basic but ok, Impressive building but lots to improve,
Excellent location and beautiful breakfast area looking out to sea. Great place.
Lovely queen size bed. First class comfort, staff very unhelpfully regarding booking for next year before you leave.
Had the same food menu 3 times in a week. And it's not very nice.
FOOD DECOR DATED AND RUN DOWN UNKEMPT AREAS NEEDS A GOOD CLEAAN
Location, views. decent prices for drinks, food etc. Entertainment.
In room 701 stairs up were not easy, ok for us but maybe one should be told beforehand that it is a hard climb with bags for over 70's. Long wait at reception some times when only 1 person on the desk.
The history of the place. The breakfast. Decent evening show. Old world grandeur, slightly 'decayed'. Room, clean, comfortable with a view of the beach. great value.
Too many children running around out of control.
The hotel gave value for money Staff were very friendly and helpful The bedding was cleaned and changed daily Happy hour in the hotel was a big hit Breakfast was acceptable
The hotel is tired and could do with refreshing Windows could do with soundproofing (seagulls in the morning)
excellent staff and food
rooms need a VERY deep clean
the breakfast was really poor in quality and the way it was served. the first room was a broom cupboard in the cellar, this was stale and damp. this is aimed at retired people who like at twenties theme and bingo
We have liked the look of the grand for a while and decided to go thursday to sunday for our 43rd wedding anniversary we loved every minute. Breakfast was very good and we were lucky enough to get window seats to look over the lovely bay while enjoying breakfast. Cant comment on evening meal as we were just B&B
Helpful staff eat as much as you like enough choice of food had a room change without any problem happy hour in bar for six hours bathroom very clean and not cramped
could do with room television tuned to channels had to search each time
Location Reasonable breakfast Bar and seating area good comfy beds The Seagull on the window sill was a friendly chap
Bedroom/Bathroom were scruffy The bedroom door was insecure and looked like it had been broken and repaired at some point badly fitting drawers in the furniture...filthy windows
Position. Sea views. Rooms are fine. We do really like this hotel.
We thought the food could have been a bit better. Upgraded and had an evening meal and it was a bit of a let down. Breakfast was better. Would probably stay B&B next time.
Everything was fine apart from...see below.
PARKING!....Parking was hard.
The grand balcony
The room was tiny. Even though we paid for a sea view room we had a view of a gutter. Water was dripping down the wall. Mould all over the bathroom. Their was more. The experience was just far too poor
The Grand looks very Grand. Breakfast.
Not enough staff on reception. A lengthy process to hand in and collect room key if there is a queue of people registering or purchasing car parking. Concerned by staff responses to fire alarm activation. My concerns grew when I counted how many fire resisting doors did not close properly.
The location is superb with a view from the restaurant over the whole bay. We stayed on B and B terms and the choice and quality of the breakfast was excellent. The staff were all helpful and unobtrusive and well turned out. Guess we got lucky and parked right outside the hotel. We used the hotel residents pay to park cards which meant we didn,t have to renew the ticket until half one instead of getting up at daft o clock to renew it.
First impressions count and the check in was way too long . Three quarters of an hour with the queue all the way through the lobby. Up to the room and a bit deflated . Outdated with a television from the dark ages. No shower but an old bath which my better half wouldn,t use. Only view was a wall opposite. Still , as always, you get what you pay for .
Service and staff where slow and rude. Food was basic and tea not drinkable. The rooms needed a face lift, everything was tired.
