Our initial room allocated to us was horrendous. The wallpaper was torn or hanging off, the bathroom, although clean was so old and worn with mould, rust and broken that it looked terrible, Lamp shades were stained or missing, woodwork around the windown decaying and broken -and bedding so old it had holes in it - totally unsatsisfactory. We were allocated another room immediatelty and the hotel staff were very good and accommodating about this, can't fault the receptionists. Our new room was better but the whole hotel is looking tired and worn. |

The breakfasts were good and the building when restored will be fgood as the building has a lot of very good period features I appreciate that there is a lot of refurbishment going on in the ho9tel, but the room that i was allocated was very difficult to find and needed 3 trips back to the receptionist for directions, after the lift was discovered to be out of action. The room was very basic for the money that i paid, the large sah window could not be locked (note instructions in the room to keep your room secue) the bathroom door could not be shut as the door catch did not work. Bed had blankets rather than a duvet that all the other hotels that i have stayed at now have. the bed was very hard. The TV was tiny (though I didn't need to watch it). the curtains were not blackout and out side our window there was a flood light that illuminated our room even at 11.00 PM it seemed like daylight. The seaguls were nesting on the balcony above our rooms and from 4.00 am they starting making a lot of noise (you need to look at stopping them nesting on the ledges around the hotel.) |

splendid situation and architecturally wonderful but has been allowed to decay shamefully. It is a disgrace. Where to start. On arrival the service was surley, the lifts unavailable, the room tiny, dirty, and uncomfortable. The food - breakfast - inedible. |

I had booked dinner, but the restaurant finished serving at 8pm, and there was no alternative eg room service. The room was extremely humid and uncomfortable. The shower/bath combination was ill-designed, leading to water on the floor. No internet availablity. |

It's close to the seaside. Room service not very good. Beds would be more comfortable with softer blankets. |

the hotel staff were able to change our unrefurbished room to a refurbished room which was much better. The location is excellent for the town and the beach. Some of the staff were not very helpful and all the rooms are yet to be refurbished. The dining room was being decorated when we were there 3 years ago but it looks like it needs doing again. |

I was pleased the way the staff handled my request for a change of rooms. Without some sort of daylight access, I felt I was back on submarines in the Royal Navy The dining room staff displayed extreme efficiency & courtesy.generally,I would return some time later. I booked this hotel for a very special reason. My wife and I were quite disgusted on each occassion of entry & leaving , having to push past SMOKERS @ the hotel entrance.the ammount of cigarette ends &chewingum around left much to be desired. The replacement suite was very nice,if only they didn,t need telling to tidy the 2 bunk beds.It would have to open the window for fresh air. |

Absolutely nothing! Everything. Having booked a premium room and being aware that there was supposed to be a refurbishment to the hotel, I was nonetheless was shocked that this room lacked a phone, vital in such a large establishment; had only a single bedside lamp in a twin room, and that light on the far side of one of the beds, unreachable from the other; had kittiwakes nesting immediately on the ledge outside... |
