Being moved to a much better room. After complaining of the wet carpet, unbearably hot temperature (no windows).
The "dungeon" room.
The shower was ok for a child but adults of 5ft6 & 5ft9 couldn't have a shower in comfort very very poor. Bar prices poor £6 for a double no need sheer greed
the outer look of the hotel the entrance and the main lounge area including the stair case very imposing staff very nice
from second floor upwards corridor carpets require renewing they are not in keeping with the stature of the hotel some of the rooms are not of a very good standard bath room quality poor shower cubical needs grouting hand basin badly cracked could harbour germs room 242
First room offered can only be described as a coffin, second room was better but got changed for a bath only to find no towels in the room, 11pm on the evening the music was banging through my floor from the entertainment downstairs, Breakfast was served I. A room which can only be described as a fridge and the food was probably at the same temperature, possibly the worst hotel I have ever stayed in, suggest you charge more and offer a better service overall. Very very poor
Staff are fantastic Premier breakfast was amazing Stayed in better rooms but still was a.lovely clean room
Even though i requested a quiet seaview room, i ended up with a room situated above the entertainment floor and was unable to sleep for the noise until 1.30am every night, the floor aboves water pipe came through our bathroom so every shower, every flush was thundered through our bathroom. meals could be much better. NOT RECOMMENDED, there are much better hotels in Scarborough. give it a miss.
Beautiful stairway, balcony and foyer. Food was quite good value for price. Entertainment was enjoyable
Bedroom was very dated and bathroom was awful - Tiny, just a shower in a tiled corner with curtain, cracked washbasin, old taps, 1 shelf above. Nowhere to put clothes or toiletries except floor. Not what we are used to. Have had immaculate facilities in a B&B Furniture in coffee lounge was very shabby I had asked for a "nice" room as it was for a birthday - but was very disappointed with what we got. Had stayed there 4yrs before and think it has gone downhill now.
It's a lovely hotel in a fantastic location. I stay here regular and always stay in one of the Executive Premier Terrace Rooms, the best. Absolutely faultless.
Location was good, nice views over the bay, breakfast ok
Check in very slow, lift out of order to lower level rooms,
Sea view & location Booked premier as like a cate market otherwisw
Rude front desk staff, broken lift, make a complaint and be ignored. Very busy so Britania do not care
We try to get to this hotel at least twice a year. The food is quite good but my missus commented that it seems even better this time.
I suppose someone has to have them, our room faced a wall, the room is basically just for sleeping in but sometimes it's nice to look out of the window and watch the world go by
going back home
the room, view, cleanliness was poor, gone off lager made us ill, never going there again, complete sham for a hotel
Nice hotel bit updated needs new decor beds rock hard old fashion tv
Location Fabulous Old building
Broken lift Scruffy and dated
Location was excellent right in middle of town
Stayed at hotel before a few years ago but it is looking abit dated now, breakfast was just edible but if you liked it you could eat as much as you wanted bedroom smelt of stale cigarettes
After arriving at reception we knew we were going to have a lovely weekend. The staff were excellent and everything else was excellent. We will definatley return to this hotel in the summer. 10 out of 10! Alan and Anne
Location was great, and the building was stunning, loved the communal areas even though in need of upgrading. The staff were all very helpful and smiley.
No Parking, Shabby furnishings and rooms dated, needs a good overhaul. It would have been nice to be offered upgrade offer at reception rather than when gone up 5 floors with luggage to find a notice on the bed. Had it been offered at reception would probably have taken it.

Room & staff
The spa bath is worth the visit.
Was on a lower ground and was very noisy in the morning, could hear them getting ready in the kitchen. Could not take takeaway in which I found unusual so had to sit on the doorstep with it.
we had a fantastic time stopping at the grand staff are very friendly and helpfull. food was always high quality and was lovely to see all the xmas decorations up thanks for a lovely stay
easy access, general layout.
size of room, having to climb over partner to get in and out of bed, state of wall paper curling up off the wall in places. The room is only just big enough for a single bed
good hotel good food will be back
warm cosy bedroom comfy beds. pleasant staff in reception and dining room location
no sink in ensuite bathroom was in bedroom. bathroom smelled of cigarette smoke informed reception. sticky dirty tables in enternainment room. expensive drinks
The entrance area and staircase was lovely and a real surprise. I hope refurbishments continue to keep this hotel going. The new bedrooms were small and had no windows. This didn't bother me but some people could be claustrophobic. The room was new, spotless and the bathroom was new and very clean.
Real ale in bar please.
The splendid staircase, the air of 19th century splendour. The view of the bay from the breakfast dining room.
I had a single room, tiny and cramped, with no window. But if you are a sad single this is what you must expect. As a general rule, the larger the hotel, the smaller the single rooms, alas.
