Once we got a room that was what we ordered it was ok but hadn't been cleaned properly
Cleanliness was poor
love the old grandeur the Christmas atmosphere captured beautifully Trees trimmed everywhere Lovely and warm when coming in and welcoming We loved it and will keep coming back
no hotel of this size and so many guests can be without faults Our problem on this visit was the double bed pushed up to the wall Ok for them on the outside not so good for the wall person ie my unfortunate husband butotherwise good and great value
Having stayed here before and not liked it I was not looking forward to going back - however when we got there I was very pleasantly surprised. Very nice & I would go back again! Which previously I had sworn never to do again!
food was ok
the room was not ready at 4 pm ?!! we had to sit and wait .then the room was dirty ,shower had not been cleaned
Plenty of room to relax very good value we will return for another dose of chilling out. Food though catering for masses it was still a good choice and well cooked
Hotel a bit tired looking but nothing to dislike
The location was excellent, room decor was a little tired but clean and airy. Food was fine, staff were friendly and helpful. Will go back.
Hot breakfast drinks need attention, feel machines would do a better job. Lift was out of order for two days. Could be a problem for elderly clientele.
Hotel was a bargain! Friendly staff dated room but it's a room & it's cheap can't complain! Just great for our nights stay, best nights sleep ever!! Defiantly will return!
Didn't have a bath
constant hot water the room was lovely and warm we had a fantastic evening the staff were helpful and friendly
Friendly welcome, nice setting and clean, comfortable room.
£1.95 for the tonic (200ml) in my wife's G&T!!!!!
Ordered a twin room and received a double room. Shower ceiling was cracked. Fire alarm constantly going off.
The location is superb and I have always wanted to stay at the Grand. The building is amazing and has always been a historical landmark in Scarborough. We stayed in a premium double room and had a sea view. The bed was huge and very comfortable, and the room was a good standard. Shower was very good. I would stay here again but I would not bother with the dinner, although the breakfast was good.
If you are coming here for a romantic weekend, it is not really the right hotel. Although the rooms are good, the staff leave a lot to be desired. On check in they were not very helpful and because there are so many people staying here it feels like a conveyor belt. If you are having the buffet dinner, beware - it's quantity over quality. The breakfast is good though. We stayed in room 0006 which is downstairs below the restaurant and the lift was not working so a walk down 4 floors from reception to reach our room.
Good value for money the room on the sixth floor has just been refurbished and everything worked fine, never take much notice of negative reports the breakfast was very good at 9.30 , no crowds just a pleasant experience
None what so ever
We have stayed in three of Britannias hotels and they are pretty much all alike. All offer good value in hotels that were once very grand. I would especially recommend the evening meal for great value.
If you are looking for luxury do not stay here
Fantastic location. Very helpful staff. Clean, warm and quiet room.
Breakfast buffet was rather crowded but made up for by choice including fruit and yoghurt. Teabags for breakfast were awful. Parking is difficult and expensive. No wifi in the bedrooms
Variety of choice of food
The entertainment is quite late in starting and finishes far too early considering the bar stays open.
loved the location, hotel was great, fab buffet breakfast, fantastic holiday at £100 for two people for 2 nights B&B ready for the next deal
floorboards a bit creaky, TV didn't work which I loved because that didn't really bother me, fittings in the bathroom loose
Caters too much for elderly
The old style & grandeur
The tackiness of slot machines & worn carpets. I would have loved to stay at the Grand in its hey day The hotel is need of TLC
Superb Location. Hotel Entrance Area. Ballroom. Beautiful Building.
Paid extra for more relaxed breakfast. Not worth the money - too cramped and busy - defeated the object. Hotel looks tired in places.
Beautiful building, plenty of food choices, peaceful sleep
Unclear bar offers. Dogs. Very mean bingo prizes. Would have liked sunday papers on offer.
I knew I had booked a budget room, I was not going to fall for "pay for an upgrade" again. Went with an open mind, the room was really quite good, all pretty new, no window, but we were only sleeping in there, everything was spotless.
Too many stairs, anyone less abled would really suffer, we were litterally in the basement. Didn't like the fact that the bar shut at 11pm on Sunday. There is a facility to buy bottles at a fiver a time !!!!
Very friendly welcome considering it was after midnight
I don't mind small hotel rooms, but this was an exceptionally small single and had no natural light at all. I couldn't wait to get downstairs for Breakfast
The hotel staff were so friendly and helpfull the christmas trees in the lobey and in the dining room gave a very glamarous feel. The Breakfast was good value for money and the view from the dining room amazing, Bedroom was clean and the shower did its job.
Could have done with a later checkout time as breakfast didnt finish till ten. the rooms were clean but do need decorating. But good value for what you pay.
hotel was freezing for the whole of our trip. asked for heaters was still waiting for them on the morning we left. stayed in premier room and was cross examined at meal times regards what foods we could eat it seems different meals for different paying guests did not like this will not stay in this hotel in winter again. and not too sure if I would in the summer. very disappointed.
In a good position for both the seafront and the amenities of the town. Loved the elegance of the building and if you like entertainment , there was plenty going on every evening.
Our room was a bit small and the cleanliness left a lot to be desired ( very dusty) the window was an old sash window which we had to prop open with a towel to get some air ! Furniture was Art Deco ( nice) but handles broken. Decor could do with a lick of paint.
