the only thing I can say that I did like was just the location What I didn't like was the food served there...It was the worst I have ever tried actually. However, the room that I was staying in was really dirty...the carpet was not just full of small rocks but also visible objects... i am pretty sure that they are not bothered to clean...

Location was were we wanted to be. I think that in all my 50 years this has to be the dirtiest hotel that I have ever stayed in. So bad infact that I was unable to eat any breakfast. The crockery was filthy and the lids of the pots were the breakfast was kept were thick with grime. The carpets were grim. We had to clean the toilet in our room, that did not even flush properly, the towl rail fell of the wall & the door handle came of in our hands each time we left the room........Was going to complain before we left but could not find a member of staff!!!! I think they must hide!

We loved the convenience of the railway station directly over the road. The door leading into the bathroom was very noisy and the door at the top of the stairs creaked. The keys for the entry were very hard to use.

The hotel is opposite the railway station which was very convenient for me as I had to travel into Brighton. Upon arrival I was worried about the noise from the station and the pub below, but by bed time this noise was at a minimum. I was travelling with 2 teenagers so needed a triple room which are not easy to find, but the room I was given was perfect for us.

I booked this particular hotel as it sounded good in the advert and it was near to the Assembly Hall for the show I was going to see. It is also next to the railway station for anyone travelling by rail and easy to find by car. The hotel is old, as I had seen from the photos but it is also in dire need of refurbishment and cleaning !! The room was clean but I didn't have time to inspect the bathroom properly until the morning (thankfully only a 1 night stay). The shower was fine apart from having to climb into an ancient steel bath to use it. The toilet was filthy - under the rim and the bowl itself hadn't been scrubbed since the last person used it, I lifted the seat and found more of the same. Breakfast was served in the conservatory off the bar area, the food was good but the seating was very old and very dirty. The bed was comfortable but the location must be next to a pub or club with late night loud music, it was pointless trying to sleep until after midnight. This wouldn't have mattered but for the fact that breakfast is served from 7 until 8.30am ! I stayed in a b & b the previous week at Gatwick which was cheaper and absolutely spotless.

The staff at the hotel were very welcoming and extremely helpful. The Full English breakfast was excellent. The bed (I had a four poster) was very comfortable and the sheets were beautifully laundered. The room was extremely spacious. Unfortunately the decor of the hotel is very tired. My room did not have a mirror in the bedroom, although there was a small mirror in the bathroom. The bathroom had a hairdryer but I wanted to use my own straightners and the lead was not long enough from the plug into the bathroom to use the mirror. In the room I only found two plugs, which meant if I wanted to charge my phone and camera I wasn't able to watch TV or make a cup of tea. The lighting, even with the curtains open was not great and the center light was obscurred by the canopy to the 4 poster bed, making the room rather dull looking.

I have stayed twice recently, once in their standard double room and the second in the supreme double with four poster bed, both times we have been more than happy with the room, clean and tidy, comfortable and relaxing. Interesting decor, obviously not to everyone's taste but I like it, it suits the hotel very well. It is directly next to a bar so on some nights you may find there is some noise mainly from horrific karaoke, but unless you are completely miserable and unable to find humour in anything, this will be more amusing than irritating. The room did seem a little hot as only one of the windows could be opened (for safety reasons), but the bathroom was cool. Simple solution, open the bathroom door and welcome yourself to a comfortable heat.
