Location Breakfast Cleanliness Comfort Hosts
Room a little small
Free breakfast, which was delicious.
Cord for electric kettle not long enough, we had to place it on the floor.
Friendly hospitality, good quality and choice of breakfast, clean room and very comfortable bed. Only 10-15 minutes easy walk from station and centre of York.
Double bed in room 7 made it rather cramped but this was acceptable on account of being en-suite with single occupancy at a reasonable rate.
The breakfast was excellent and the staff delightful.
There was nothing to dislike. If I had to nitpick then our room was a bit on the small side but it was fit for purpose.
I like breakfast. It's great.
excellent location less than 10 mins walk to the minster. hearty breakfast good start for a days sightseeing. fab shower although a bit small. room and bed were comfy it was a small double which was fine for me as i was travelling alone.
if there were two people sharing this room i would not be very happy. it was far too small. the shelf over the sink got in the way when cleaning my teeth as the basin is very small. need to remove shelf.
Have stayed here before lovely guesthouse and lovely people who own it, very helpful to
Room was a little on the small side compared to the room we had before but still a very pleasant stay.
Flexibility of proprietor re arrival and departure times. Flexibility over time of breakfast. Welcome and friendliness.
The single room was too small. Quality and signal reception of TV.
Breakfast was lovely, it was cooked according to how I like it. The owners were very friendly, as well as their dog :)
Proximity to the town centre was excellent and road was quiet Deliciious breakfast served daily with specials. We received a very friendly and helpful welcome with info on our room to help us settle in. There is no lift and the hallways are narrow so don;t bring big cases but its an excellent and very classical B&B. The bed was very comfortable and the shower excellent. decent hair dryer provided
room is quite small but it was what we expected.
Location, Staff helpfulness, breakfast, able to open a window rather than using air conditioning.
50 steps to reach our room
Location Ambience Meeting the soppy dog on arrival :O) Great breakfast
Single room was a little cramped, although efficient
York is a history saturated town that is very walkable and full of good pubs. This b&b is close enough to walk to the town and has friendly owners. The breakfast has choices and offers a full English breakfast cooked to order. Our room was small but bright and Clean.
décor very old fashioned
friendly,welcoming owners..great breakfast...very helpful information.
They made us feel very welcome. Bed was very comfortable, room clean, and breakfast was freshly prepared to your order with plenty of choice. Nothing was any trouble for them. Only a quiet ten minute walk into the centre of historical York and close to transport.
Tasty breakfast, friendly staff, peace and quite place, highly reconmanded.
location good staff friendly food was good
good value for money
The owners are nice, friendly and chatty. The walk to the town center is short (15 min). The breakfast is very good. The place is clean and tidy, the room nicely furnished.
The room we ended in was cozy and very clean but very very small. The sink in the bathroom is so small that basically cannot be used properly. The tv is super tiny (not that we used it anyway).
Close to town, owvers were very nice.
The room was too small for a double bed and there was no place to put my computer. The sink in the bathroom was to small and there was a shelf over the small sink which made it very hard to spit into the sink when brushing your teeth without wacking your head on the glass.
The breadfast is very nice with special black puddings. The quilts are very soft and nice which made by very nice cotton cloth . It likes a home not a hotel.
The speedy kettle was too old.
The location was great, not right near all the traffic in the very centre but very close to the art gallery and theatre- just a short walk. The hosts were kind and helpful, not overly chatty but friendly. My room was near the top of the building, and I had an ensuite double room. It was very cosy and nicely decorated. I was impressed by the decoratively folded towels, the nice wooden furniture and the pretty, soft-tone furnishings. The bed was heaven to sleep in- so, so comfortable. The breakfast was in the equally cosy dining room downstairs where I had juice, cafetière coffee, cereal, fruit and a cooked veggie breakfast. There were also yohurts if you wanted them. Lovely brek and simple check out. Would definitely stay again.
These are only small things. The wardrobe in my room had a door which was very hard to open and close and I felt I was making rather a noise clattering about with it. Also, although it was mostly quiet, there was some noise from what I presume were drunken revellers in the middle of the night- I could've shut the window but wanted a light breeze. Also, I personally prefer to have a bath in the en-suite, although the shower was perfectly nice and clean.
Really good location as just a 10 min stroll to the edge of York centre shops and the open-top bus tours. The street is quiet and there was plenty of space to park (even on a bank holiday weekend!)We were given a free parking permit on arrival for the duration of our stay which was a big bonus. Nick and Sarah, the owners, were so friendly and helpful. They gave lots of great advice as to where to go/what to do/where to eat in and around the city. Also the cooked breakfast is excellent!
We had a fantastic time so it is hard to think of anything without being really picky! (eg, bed linen and bedroom décor in our room were old designs/dated) The only thing people might want to be aware of is there isn't a communal area to socialise/have a drink in the evening, but this didn't matter to us as we were so close to York city centre with countless pubs/inns if we wanted to have a social drink.
Short distance to york and quite location, plenty places to park outside residents, clean lodge with really comfy beds, breakfast was great and they offered me extra toast, staff where very welcoming and helpful.
I had to hunt a staff member for the welcome sheet of A4 paper that had the WiFi password on it. I'm sure it was a isolated issue. Also the coffee, tea and milk for the room was not restoked on arrival. Only small gripes!
We liked the location, the jovial owner, the free parking, and the excellent breakfast. Clean, good shower.
We didn't like both broken bed lights, which made it impossible to read or work. They were replaced after our complaints, but I find it strange that it wasn't noticed by the guest house keeping allready when the first light broke. Also the bathroom light didn't work. Beds were old and springy. The room (nr 1) looked very old fashioned. We saw some more modern rooms, so we assume that this one will be redecorated as well.
