Usually the staff are excellent. This is my 3rd stay and I'm afraid the worst.Room 23 has a partition wall behind the headboard and everytime anyone walks along the passageway.in the next room or above the bed moves with the floorboards. The wall is so thin you can actually hear conversations not just voices. My daughter and I managed to sleep between 2am and 7am and then it all started again. On checking out the receptionist said I should have contacted her(at 11pm)and she would have moved us to a different room.I said I thought about that but didn't want to pack+ unpack again so she said she would've moved us in our nightclothes for us to return to our room in the morning to get ready!!!I paid and left my contact details as she said the manager would be in touch. He has not! |

A very nice place to stay. Staff are polite, friendly and helpful. There is free carparking and they let me leave the car for the day after I'd checked out.I will stay there again. Breakfast buffet looked a little tired. |

The upgrade and the feel and decor of the main reception areas Not getting access to the new annex from the car park, having to go through the hotel every time was tedious. |

Very little, over rated, over priced and staff customer service skills not evident. I checked into this hotel at 1930 hrs on a Sunday evening. I could not park the car in the minute hotel car park and parked outside on the street. Then when I enquired about a meal in the hotel restaurant I was informed it was fully booked. Eventually they told me they could fit me in after 2115 hrs. After looking at the overpriced menu I decided to eat elsewhere. I will not stay at this hotel again! |

Staff were very pleasent and helpful. Rooms were comfortable and clean. Restaurant food was first class, though expensive. No lift, so my wife had to walk up two flights of stairs, she has a bad knee and we had not anticipated access to rooms would be difficult. I would also like some information on gratuities on the restaurant menu, perhaps this is an improvement suggestion. |

Thought the dining room should have had tablecloths for the evening; and there were no xmas crackers on the table! Or at all!! |

Our first impressions were very favourable as we were given a free upgrade and on a cold day there was a roaring fire in the residents' lounge. The breakfast area was well staffed and there was plenty of choice. The free car park right behind the hotel was a real benefit. |

We liked the location The table at lunch was dirty, staff should have noticed this and cleaned it without being asked. Service at lunchtime and at breakfast was extremely slow, we waited more than half an hour before our breakfast was served. We paid £138 for a deluxe twin bedded room, in the new annex - the most costly room on the web site. We were initially allocated room 6 which appeared to be a standard double-bedded room. On querying this with reception, we were told that all rooms were the same price, but we were then allocated room 38. Again, this was a double bedded room, with no bathrobes or trouser press, as indicated on the web site. |

The staff at the hotel were very friendly and helpful. The hotel had a great atmosphere and the decor was very nice. Location was excellent - just a short walk away from the city. The negative comments about parking are a little unfair - yes there isn't an equal number of spaces to hotel rooms but if you leave your keys with reception they will happily let you double park. Breakfast also delicious. As you can see would highly recommend to anyone!! |

I liked the fact that it was within walking distance of the city centre and was a luxurious venue to come back to after a hard day's shopping at the Christmas Market |

The breakfast the next day was fab As a family we didnt like the fact that there was no lift and had to Strugle to the top with travel cot and our luggage. We felt that the room was rather pocky and could do with a ''Lick'' of paint to freshin up. We also felt that the price we paid was rather expensive for what it was, also the car park area was a joke. |

Location perfect & within easy reach of main sites in York. Room was excellent. Service was not consistent throughout our stay. Problems with plumbing on 2 occassions & no real explanation given. Waited 30 minutes for tea at breakfast & was not given details of the delay until prompted. |
