The Grange Hotel    

very nice, clean, comfortable, accommodating. Continental breakfast was excellent with many choices. Staff was pleasant. It was a fairly short stroll into "town".

There was a large wedding reception going on all day and into the evening which didn't interfere with us except that when we went down to have dinner, they had to turn us away as they were "too full and unable to accept any more diners that night". We then had to walk back into town to one of the pubs to eat.

Brasserie was not up to the same standard as the rest of the hotel. Food, poor pub grub. Music not appropriate for the surroundings and client.

Great location for central York. Very comfortable. Excellent Staff and service.

Dining room too dark in evening

Very stylish decor in beautiful old building, very clean. Excellent location - about 8 mins walk to centre of York.

I paid for a "standard" double room which was slightly more expensive than a "small" double, although its difficult to see how our room could have been smaller!

I had a fabulous stay at the Grange, the staff were extreamly helpful, as I had a leg injury before I arrived and was on crutches, I had to have all my meals in my room, the room service was excellent, and the facilties in the room were perfect, I would highly recommend this hotel and would definitly stay there again.

A hotel with a lot of character and very friendly and attentive staff. Beautifully dressed with fresh flowers and a great location for the centre of York.

The room was very pleasant but a little dark due to 'period' decoration. We found this cosy on a dismal cold day in April, but when the trees are in leaf in the summer directly in front of the window it could be a little drab for some travellers!

Really nice staff. Loved the sitting room with the log fire.Bed really comfortable with quality bedding. Nicely decorated room. Quiet but right in the city with parking. Delicous all hot cooked breakfast.

The room was too hot even with the radiators turned down. Made sleeping difficult.

i did not like anything about the room except the shower in the bathroom

was very dissapointed in the room we was given i know it was a small double but i would say it was a single there was only one side of the bed you could get in the drawers were only imatation they didnt open the room was dark with no lights the hairdryer in the wardrobe only reached to a mirror on the wardrobe door that you couldnt see in because it was so dark there was nowhere to put your case it was so small that two people just got in each others way

Friendly welcome, helpful staff, excellent food, comfortable and warm room, proximity to minster, clean and well presented hotel.

Food where excellent and require tablecloth table setting. In internet booking I told I choose the medium nice larger room by the site description and pictures, but when we arrive they told us we had the basic room; likely there where a problem with our bathroom so they upgrade us to a very nice room for free, which happen to be one of the room on the descriptions and pictures in the internet. Really thanks full for that I believe when you look under the room descriptions and pictures by category you will need to see the exact room you are choosing x the price. Front desk need to be improved, not as employee but as role.

the location was perfect and the staff really friendly and helpful. It just felt very comfortable from the minute we walked in the door.

The building itself was beautiful and welcoming

The room (13) was extremely small and the floorboards from the room above were so loose that every time the guest upstairs moved, there was an extremely loud creak. This woke me up throughout the night and early in the morning and prevented me from getting a good night's sleep.

I didn't even end up staying at the hotel. I booked the hotel for a cheap rate online. Only to be told, after being about 10 mins away from the hotel, that there was an error on the system and the wrong price was quoted when I booked. To appease me, they offered me a 'special rate' which turns out to be their standard price. Disgusting really. Would rather stay overnight in a tent then stay with a hotel willing to treat customers like this.

I loved the building (interior and exterior), all of the luxury decor and amenities and the food service. The staff were very friendly and helpful and made our stay even more pleasant. Value for money and location were fantastic.

The only downside was that our room description said that we would have luxury bathrobes in the room, but we didn'T. On saturday night we could hear a little bit of noise from our neighbors room, but thin walls are expected in an old hotel.

Absolutely everything it was`nt the first time we have been here and it won`t be the last,we received everything I asked for plus a lot more (even down to the birthday wine on our arrival) and to cap it all off we received an upgrade when we arrived there to make the break even more special and the meal we had in the New York Grill was superb,we will definately be back.

Our suite was situated near outside door so there was a bit of banging thats all.

Not well soundproofed - background noise from bar music system and massively creaky floorboards from corridor, rooms around you and above!

Beautifully furnished hotel , very comfortable and lovley atmosphere food very good and staff very helpful . very enjoyable stay . would recommend it to anyone . nice to see a hotel retaining period features and old world charm

Parking space available is extremely poor you will be very lucky to get a space.
