breakfast clean local
bed as in 6 feet 4 the foot board not good
Comfortable big room and shower room. Excellent breakfast.
Room abit cold on arrival but soon sorted.
My stay was short but sweet. My room was better than expected clean and comfortable. With a good selection of hot drinks. Presentation excellent. Staff very helpful and friendly . Breakfast very enjoyable and relaxing with a good selection to cater for all dietary requirements. Would love to return and stay longer.
Locked out of room 12.15am until 3.00 am and unable to contact the owner on his out of hours number then told he had been out for a drink this not very good as is needed my heart medication
Room was immaculately clean and very modern decor. Had a lovely nights sleep, comfortable, tea and coffee facilities in room. We booked in same day after a 'quick pack a bag night away' took us for 1 night. Breakfast very nice and no push to leave asap in the morning. Would use again on our next whitby stay!
The shower smelt like it was about to blow up everytime it was used. The sky light leaked water all over the bed, the double bed broke, the wardrobe door fell off, the wifi signal was pretty much non existent and the signal on the tv was so poor we couldn't watch it
I cannot say enough good things about this place, after reading reviews I was a little unsure my stay would be satisfactory, but on arrival the staff were nothing but polite, friendly and welcoming and the hotel itself was a lovely old house, in a good location. The breakfast was nice and I will definitely be returning.
all of it
Good breakfast, pleasent staff
Room was a bit shabby, ester stains on ceiling, couple of hairs in bed, felt room needed a bit of a smarten up
Great location.owner very helpful and gave us his parking space outside the property.great selection for breakfast including fresh fruit and scones.weather was fab and 40's war weekend was on.loads of brilliant outfits.
Location was good to visiting the town of Whitby.
Grantley house was in desperate need of a deep cleaning and a complete overall by several tradesmen. In our bathroom the towel rack was held together with white tape, the shelf was coming away from the wall and the shower itself was dirty and quite a bit of mold. No one took our cups to clean them, in fact no one came into our room at all during our stay. We only saw the young men during breakfast. For what we paid the conditions were inadequate.
Good location, convenient parking and friendly place with a decent breakfast. Excellent value.
Minor but some switches (shower etc) not working properly and some towel rails and handles loose.
Room not cleaned on the first day.Contact mobile not correct.Bathroom disgusting room 9
had a great weekend ,friendly staff ,warm welcome, comfortable rooms and bed, excellent breakfast and service large selection would certainly book again
shower not very good in our room but managed for the weekend
Young lad serving breakfast was very efficient and friendly, owner of guest house very friendly and easy going , room was very spacious and clean
Room was on top room and having recently had knee surgery so was a struggle but next time I would just ask for a lower floor room x
Breakfast fantastic sets you for the whole day
Room was OK. Bathroom needed some attention
Very friendly good atmosphere fantastic food.
The bed wasn't very comfy had like dips in it
Great host in James, very welcoming nice room excellent breakfast.
Only thing was the mattress was lumpy, other than that everything was ok.
The breakfast was excellent and the staff was very friendly and helpfull
The room was a nice size with a good TV, BUT it was in need of some maintenance of the plumbing. The landlord was unavailable when needed and his hounds barked under our window when disturbed. There also was no room servicing during the day, ie, beds not made etc.
good location for town. Good breakfast at the start of our four day stay
The first room we were given had a very small bathroom containing a toilet and shower. There were plumbing issues which created lots of noise all night. We moved to a much nicer room on our third night with nice bathroom. Unfortunately it was the room next door to the first so we still had all the noise from the plumbing issues. Not good for sleeping. The breakfasts were really good at the start of the week but when you are still having the same fresh fruit on the fourth morning it was less than appetizing. Poor housekeeping as bins were never emptied. Returned to the room late afternoon to the unwashed cups we had used in the morning.
Had an excellent time, grantley house was lovely, very clean and the staff extremely friendly and helpful. Will be back very soon hopefully. Thanks for making our stay relaxing and comfortable.
Good location basic accommodation but good for the price. Breakfast was very good
Parking was a nightmare ended up in pay and display . Late checkin also not good had to phone up as no one was in; had to leave answer phone message. Keys left in envelope !
Good range of breakfast.
The shower had no pressure. It needs some sprucing up broken plug box under dining room window child could get fingers in. Rather large mould on ceiling wall in dining room. The rads sink no earth on. As i work in the industry and we have to work very hard to get 4Star in cumbria i am biased. We would use the place again tho have to say , would have to consider that shower tho !!!!!!! When my friend went to find someone to help with tv not working there appeared to be dogs in the kitchen don't think that is passing hygeine
Breakfast was very good. Staff were friendly
Shower was poor and partially broken door. The bedroom ceiling was falking paint onto the floor
Good position breakfast good
It needed a complete refurbish and certainly needed to be a lot cleaner
