My stay was for business and the location suite well for my stay. The room was suitable to wash and sleep in, the bed was very low to floor level with a poor mattress, any one with difficulties in get up and down would have found this very difficult to use due to being so low. The breakfast was very good with a wide selection to choose from. I did not use the restaurant as Harrogate has lots of places to go and eat, I did hear one guest complainig about the cost of the meal he and his wife had. The staff seemed to be good and the basics of the hotel are clean and tidy.Would I stay here again, for an overnight business trip yes as it fills my needs and budget, to come for a weekend away with the family, possible not as it lacks that something extra I would be looking for.

Very helpful and friendly staff who could not do enough to make your stay comfortable. The grill served nice food but was a little restrictive in terms of menu options - a steakhouse in an hotel makes life hard for vegetarians and vegans! Good location and parking. Initially I was given a room in the basement which was terrible and poor value for money; the heating was switched off but it was extremely warm; it overlooked a carpark where there were 3 water pipes/drains which ran and splurted water all night very loudly; the shower was poorly designed as it would drench the bathroom; and the room was quite battered with chipped paint. I asked to be moved the next morning and the staff were extremely obliging and even moved my belongings. The new room on the 1st floor was lovely.

Disapointed that the Dining Room has been replaced with a steakhouse and therefore limited menu Steak was excellent but Even steak is boring after 1 night. New Decor bright and shiny but not comfortable. Room decor was a bit tired but the bed was very comfortable Draughty windows, no double glazing made the room cold although radiator was on max. The hotel was not up to the standard I remember from a few years ago.

Very friendly and attentive staff, good location near town. Unfortunately there were a few mistakes, such as booking a double room and having two twin beds pushed together with a double sheet over the top this did not make for comftable nights sleep. Then there was mould in the kettle however this was replaced quickly when staff were informed. And finally on last nights stay while showering the shower head flew off an almost hit me, we did not complain as we were leaving in the morning and my partner could re attach it quite easily. The hotel has the potential to be a lovely plave to stay but these problems need to retactfied by possibly an update of the facilities.

The only decent thing about the hotel was the breakfast in the morning, The room was sub-standard, dirty, uncomfortable and noisy. The room was right next to the lounge (rrom 53), outside the room was an external air conditioning unit that made noise through the night. The bathroom was disgusting, the bedroom wasnt much better. I have taken photo's of the bathroom and bedroom to write a formal complaint about the room. We should have been able able to check into the room at 2pm but we were told it wasnt ready and to come back at 3pm at the earliest. The worst hotel room we have stayed in.

I liked the modern, clean, unfussy interior in a prime location. The room was spacious and furnished to a good modern standard. Good facilities in the room and lots of local info available in the hotel lounge. The restaurant was small and intimate with a good menu. The extra large portions were well presented and equally delicious. Service in the restaurant and indeed throughout the hotel was excellent, nothing was too much trouble for the staff. The room was on the lower level, day light was restricted by a wall immediately in front of the window,.Situated underneath the restaurant it was very noisy, especially when staff were moving tables and chairs, this did not cease until midnight.

The staff were extremely helpful when we kept changing our booking. In spite of being an old building the communal areas are tastefully designed and furnished. The breakfast is excellent if you want to pay for it. I would expect a hotel of this calibre to have tea making facilities in every bedroom, not just in some of them.

The possibility to make use of the gym at academy I was not aware that, at saturdays, breakfast starts at 08.00. Weekdays at 07.00. Because I had to leave at 07.30 I was not able to hav breakfast. They did offer to bring something at my room, but that was not what I hoped, and already paid, for.

To being made comfortable as an older single guest ,feeling secure and having a very comfortable double room Having twice been given room 53 it is usually very quiet except when it rains! The heavy drips from the roof outside the fire exit door can be very disturbing.
