A lovely hotel in a perfect position in Stowe.
The location was excellent. Staff were very friendly. Breakfast was very very good.
The dining room lacked the character of the rest of the hotel. The communal areas could do with updating.
The staff were very good. The room was clean. Good parking. Reasonable price. Best shower we have ever used.
The bed was uncomfortable. The room was too near the restaurant which had music on (not loud but the speaker was on our wall and wasn't turned off until late). Our room was too near the main staircase. I would say that if you don't mind going to bed after twelve then this is fine.
Friendly olde worldly place
Although the weather was cold , the grapevine gave us a very warm feeling . Very hospitable helpful staff and a fine breakfast.......
The location in town. Cosy feel of the rooms.
Generally the decoration of hotel was in need of attention.
Room very suitable Staff willing to please
Waiting after 3pm for room to be cleaned. Mirror light in bathroom was not working
Well located within the town. Very comfortable 4 poster bed, nice big shower and jacuzzi bath. We were in the Garden rooms but there was a covered walkway to the restaurant for breakfast. Very nice cooked breakfast. The whole of Stow seems dog friendly!
Everything looked a bit tired and in need of some TLC. The bedroom was clean but the outside did not give a good impression as the windows and doors all needed painting. Beautiful vine in the restaurant which would be great in the summer as the leaves would cover up the conservatory roof which was in desperate need of a good clean. Lots of little maintenance issues such as the mirror light in the bathroom and the light in the cupboard not working and a tear in the bedside lampshade. Not worth £189 a night.
Staff were very helpful and hotel extremely comfortable
Friendly staff. Power shower Mirror in bathroom mist free. Large bed Upgraded room Food portions big ( maybe too big) Overall enjoyed the stay
Took far too long to check as receptionist was busy helping in the restaurant , however she was very polite and nothing against her. Lighting on evening meal too low. After starter which was nice we were not given cutlery to eat the main having to take off a neighbouring table. Woken by the next room at 7:30am as not great sound proofing.
Great location, friendly hotel, great choice of shops and eateries!
Location and friendly staff
Stow offers a great festive feeling this time of year & the location was perfect for enjoying the local shops bars and restaurants. The Grapevine Hotel served us a delightful evening meal (staff were very attentive) and breakfast was perfect on a clear, crisp winter morning in the conservatory. The Hotel has alot of potential.
We felt disappointed that upon arrival and after settling in to our room, the downstairs facilities (bar and lounging areas) seemed uninviting. Fires did not appear to be lit, the bar could be mistaken for not being open (no backlighting) although we did get served. After our evening meal the same ambiance prevailed with staff seemingly quite keen to curtail activities for the end of a shift. The trip was our Christmas treat and in our opinion, a warm and welcoming ambiance could have made our stay perfect. Such a lovely old property should be shouting 'come on in and enjoy!'
The serviceand the staff were first class, made you feel very special.
The car parks was'nt adequate.
Helpful staff. A very clean and comfortable hotel. Central location with car park. Able to leave car and luggage at hotel after check out. Free wifi in room.
Can't think of anything.
Central location, friendly & helpful staff, good choice for breakfast & freshly cooked. Would use Hotel again but only on B&B basis
Poor choice of Evening Meals & Drinks selection. Generally lacked atmosphere in evening, no roaring open fires as advertised
Food reasonable, car parking good, hotel clean & tidy.
Hotel was cold (no fires), the staff had hooked the doors open because they were warm (outside temp was about 6 Celsius), our bedroom heating went off about 4-30pm just as people were starting to return to their rooms with luck I managed to switch the boiler back on again. Not a warm hotel for the time of the year and temperature.
Staff friendly and helpful. Excellent food. This is complemented by the location
Everything about our stay was excellent from the postcode given for the car park to the well wishes at our departure. Check-in easy and quick, escorted to a our room and facilities explained. Room was bright and airy, warm, clean with a pleasant aroma. Plenty of tea, coffee etc. Very good sized Jacuzzi bathroom with decent shower. Restaurant for dinner very nice (3 courses with drinks £90) for two - we didn't scrimp; breakfast selection also very good every morning. All staff always pleasant to you.
lounge area/bar area bathroom was clean and bright lovely and warm/radiators on breakfast menu was excellent bed was comfortable parking was excellent - a big plus point for the area lots of tea/coffee/biscuits in room
room was too small - no area for the suitcase.
Location staff bath
No heating in the morning
Very nice breakfasts . Lovely room . Great bath/shower
We expected real fires lit -we were disappointed that they were not lit . Had there been a real fire we would have enjoyed relaxing and chatting in the downstairs areas .
An excellent room, very comfortable.
Evening menu was poor, limited choice, only one vegetarian option, and the bar lacked atmosphere.
We were looking for a comfortable and friendly stop-over on our way home from visiting relatives. The Grapevine was a great choice with friendly and helpful staff, a comfortable room and great food.
Friendly welcome, large comfortable very clean room and excellent breakfast
Dining room did not appear very welcoming so we ate our evening meal elsewhere.
