Nice hotel, food, staff and room and attention to detail
Friendly staff and good welcome. Relaxed homely feel and comfy bed. Breakfast very good too.
A little dated bit clean and a nice feel. Shower was either scalding hot or cold but managed a quick wash.
Lovely comfortable hotel Staff absolutely first class Room always spotless and well serviced each day. Breakfast:- good variety Restaurant:- menu and food varied (compliments to the excellent chef)
Found beds hard
The bed was comfortable and it was nice and clean. The towels were huge.
The room was small and the T.V was small. There was only a shower no bath. I was disapointed with the breakfast I asked for poached egg toast and beans, I got one piece of toast one egg no beans thought that was poor. Staff very forgetful. Forgot our milk for the tea and the beans. I did not feel this was a 4 star.
Happened to be very convenient for the particular address we were visiting. Friendly staff. Fine breakfast.
Parking in the hotel grounds was limited. We eventually parked in the car park at the local pub. The roads were busy and the noise in our front facing room was distracting until late in the evening. The hotel, although functional, is in need of modernising.
Friendly staff good rooms
Nice room and very helpfull staff
shower cubicle was a lttle small
This is a lovely old building in lovely garden with great food & staff but it stopped there
your site said the hotel had views over the valley we paid for the best room "Cromwell" & got views over the car park . The room had little or no maintenance clock radio did not work , curtains were torn , bed was HARD , the lovely bathroom ?? Taps faulty , toilet roll ran across floor when paper used because the holder leaned downhill but worst was the toilet seat which was very loose & quite dangerous , ceiling light came on/off as it liked
Friendly staff nice room with a comfortable bed and a good shower. Very good breakfast and restaurant menu all cooked very well and a well stocked bar if a little pricey.
The windows could do with updating as they didn't keep the traffic noise out from the busy main road, there was no hot water from the basin in the ensuit and on our last morning they shut the kitchen before the specified time and we missed out on our full English which we were looking forward to.
Very friendly staff. Very comfortable clean rooms. Free fast Wi-Fi. Good meals and bar. Good value for money. Convienient for the ring road and shops.
Road can be noisy first thing in the morning depending on room location.
Very clean room with everything you needed. Comfortable bed. Lovely helpful staff, even let our children put their baggage in the room before normal check in time as we were going to a wedding. Wonderful full English breakfast freshly cooked with lots of choices. Would definitely stay again.
Could just do with a magnifying mirror in the bathroom for blind old ladies like me and maybe a couple of hooks on the bathroom door for dressing gowns.
Breakfast was OK
No facilities open, excuse was Bank Holiday, not indicated in on line info but still charged full price. No bar or food options open. Chairs in room were upright, not the most comfortable to use, couldn't use lounge chairs as everything was locked shut. Outside contractor collected empty bottles at some time before 6.00 am outside window didn't help matters.
The room was light, spacious, clean & well appointed.
There was internal noise throughout the night that made sleeping difficult.
The cleanliness. Comfottable bed. Good sheets. Good breakfast.
The shower took some working out
we were attending a wedding in Bath at 2.30 and the booking in time for the hotel was 2.30, but they very kindly allowed us to book in at 11.00 at no extra charge and all the staff were so pleasant and looked after us so well
nothing to dislike
We liked it all
Nothing that we didn't like
Bathroom immaculate towels fine Bed comfortable Fan- a necessity due to heat wave My cooked breakfast was fine apart from only getting one mushroom my husband asked for poached eggs and got one poached egg on toast.
Noise-intrusive from room alongside us. doors noisy creaking floor Went down for breakfast at 8am after reading complaints about slow service. We were fine first ones there but very quickly people were waiting as only one poor girl serving, no one to tell people where to sit so a bit chaotic Staff presence very limited had to wait each time went to reception did not have to resort to mobile as some others have said . Did not live up to its rating, those things like disposable plastic cups in the bathroom and bedroom why no glasses or at least solid plastic cups.no offer of fresh milk for tea/coffee in room for late/early cuppa Bedroom space restricted access to wardrobe very challenging had to move a chair and it was still awkward- better if it faced into the room. Room 14 was at the back of hotel not a problem normally except the cooking smells come into the room even more noticeable as had to have windows wide open because of the hot weather. Ironing board and iron on landing throughout weekend not something that would happen at home and odd in a supposed 3-4 star accommodation. Parking restricted to 6-7 cars so had to park in Chandag road some way up when returning late as residents also have to park , Had high expectations but was disappointed.
That it had a bus stop outside the hotel which enabled two very mature ladies to get to Bath and Wells and enjoy our holiday.
Can't think of anything atall really!
reception general layout of guest house layout of bed room
how small the tv was towel holder was broken 8inch black hair on tile in bathroom noise from the road outside
Staff we're extremely pleasant and helpful. Building although old was well maintained and clean. Meals were also excellent and plentiful. Cannot fault our stay there and we would well recommend it to anyone.
We had nothing to fault.
We got mugs for our tea a cafetiere for making coffee. Decaff as well as cafinated coffee and biscuits. We got a small bottle of water that we could fill up from the water fountain. Fresh fruit at breakfast rxcellent choices and accommodating flexibility to be commended. Short walk from high street and a nice park. short drive to Bath. Great shower. We stayedb there in order to attend a family celebration. Will go back in the future.
Cannot think of anything!
Good location and lovely big bathroom. Breakfast was good and staff accommodating to any requests.
Bed and pillows uncomfortable and the room didn't match the same quality as some of the others and yet was the same price. Bit hot and noisy at night. Our room felt like like it was rarely used with numerous additional bedside tables stacked everywhere. Hotel is not manned at night which is not ideal when your room is near reception.
I got a really friendly welcome from the lady on reception. I loved being able to order my dinner in the bar while I enjoyed my wine. The restaurant was lovely and the service was very good. My room was comfortable and spacious.
The only thing I can find fault with is that it possibly needs a bit of a facelift in the rooms. Though comfortable, mine had a few flaws. The desk was missing a drawer front and the room just looked a bit tired. The bathroom looked newly decorated, however. But the room was clean and comfortable so not an issue.
Location Good breakfast
Bed far too soft - like a water-bed. When one person moved so did the other leading to disturbed sleep for both We were given the smallest double bedroom which was tiny for the price especially given that the hotel was pretty much empty and the doors open on other rooms. I have stayed there before and been very satisfied but not this time.
Very attractive room which was very comfortable. Breakfast was excellent, one of the best we've had.
No electrical socket near to the kettle but otherwise everything we wanted.
