Location is excellent in middle of village. Breakfast is very good. Staff all very helpful and pleasant. We are returning guests so shows it is pretty good. Has a nice looking pool which i would have liked to have used, maybe next time. There are other restaurants cafes all close by so good choice of eating places.
Lamb Inn, adjoining hotel is not up to much, we ate there first night but would not do so again. Food not great. Hotel needs updating a bit as public areas are tired with some threadbare carpets. Wifi did not work most of time
The htel was so warm and comfortable and being Christmas was decorated accordingly.. I would recomend this hotel to family and friends.
Swimming pool, large bedroom was ideal for us, excellent breakfast, helpful staff, relaxing atmosphere, beautiful location.
We couldn't fault the Red Lion we enjoyed excellent facilities the room was extremely clean and comfortable with top quality furnishings, gorgeous big tiled bathroom with bath and shower and plenty of hot water. The views from the bedroom windows was magnificent. The staff were all courteous, helpful, pleasant and polite. There was plenty of choice at breakfast and the full English breakfast was delicious. We ate in the Lamb Inn which is the pub adjoining the Red Lion for our evening meals which was also delicious. It was pretty quiet in the hotel when we were there in the run up to Christmas but the atmosphere was very festive with log fires and Christmas decorations. We stayed for two nights bed and breakfast and thoroughly enjoyed our stay and can't wait to return.
Comfort and quietness were key to peaceful relaxation.
Specific pets question suggests pets are commonplace and encouraged. Witnessed walking a dog on lead through reception and other areas, and in close proximity to food preparation / serving. Likely to be opposed by many guests even a great majority.
Good quality pub food in pub bar attached to hotel. Warm cosy and relaxing environment.
Parking can be problematic. Limited spaces for guests at the hotel and parking restrictions in Grasmere village need regular consideration.
the room was spotless. the bed was very comfy. beautiful view from the room. great facilities really enjoyed using the swimming pool, sauna, jacuzzi. food was great. cant wait to book again.
Location and facilities excellent. Staff efficient and friendly. Real ale bar and good bar meal. Restaurant menu looks enterprising and will be tried next time.
Was made welcome from start to finish. Room was a bit warm but it was above pool. They had a fan in room, so worked well for us. Lovely hotel and very christmasy.
Just missed snow by a day. Mabe next time we go we will be lucky.

Understaffed breakfast room and mattress springs being felt when in bed
Good location, very clean and all areas were well heated, beds very comfortable.Good brewing facilities in bedroom.
Pillows were too hard and uncomfortable.the bathroom was to tiny,to small to swing a mouse around let alone a cat. Hee Hee
NO SKY TV
The very warm welcome from all the staff.
The dripping tap!
The bedrooms were well equipped and comfortable with great view from the window. The staff were friendly and helpful and the food was very good with a lot of choice on the evening meal. The hotel is perfectly situated.
They were short staffed at breakfast and some staff were new and in their first week of training so there were longish waits for tables to be re set and for orders to be taken. People from the bar had to come in and help. This is not really good enough . however the food was good. Also the main complaint from most guests was finding parking pace due to the popularity of the hotel
Lovely welcoming hotel with fires and a pleasant bar
As a business traveler, at 8am breakfast starts too late.
Great location in village and hotel was well furnished and looked lovely with Christmas decor. Breakfast in conservatory was nice and airy with good views. Staff were welcoming and polite and friendly.
Bed was only a regular double, we expected maybe a king size as we were in upgrade room. Also our room was on 2nd floor so lots of overhead noise from guests above us flushing toilets late and early mornings.
We have been to Grasmere many times but this was our first visit to the Ted Lion. We really loved the friendly atmosphere and homeliness of the place, it was so cosy and welcoming.
The only downside for us was the breakfast was very slow (although saying that it was a very busy weekend). When breakfast did arrive it was freshly cooked and nice and warm. Just pity about the long wait.
Location Good food Friendly helpful staff
Bed mattress had seen better days Bathroom dated and worn Hotel too hot
location in the centre of the village and fantastic views.
we asked to change room as original was a little tired and bed much too hard second room was much better.
Arrived at 8pm to see Hotel beautifully decorated ready for Christmas-what a lovely welcome. Booked a last minute stay and already working out when we can go again. Benefits from being away from the bustle of nearby Ambleside and Windermere. A perfect place to stay-Wordsworths cottage a short walk away and fells on the doorstep. Room small but we had the lovely suprise of our own lounge adjoining.Stayed in a few places with just a shower-the availability of the spa and a lovely bath after a days walking is welcome! An absolutely lovely hotel-staff really helpful, welcoming and work hard to make your stay a good one. The large lounge downstairs is perfect for relaxing after dinner and the resturant and pub adjoining means you dont even have to go out in the evening to eat. Cant praise this place enough-had a wonderful 4 days and want to return ASAP. Thankyou to everyone for all your hard work
Situation excellent right in centre of Grasmere. Food in the pub very good as was the atmosphere.
Bedrooms too hot, no means of turning heating down. Breakfast not very good. Service not good staff seem to be concentrating on dining room rather than conservatory. No condiments or sugar on tables.
Friendly staff, good food and dining environment. Comfortable lounge. Warm.
Shortage of free parking. Was told to go to pay town park if couldn't find space. This was quite a distance from hotel and charge started from 8am each day. Not a relaxing option.
