It was ok for a weekend as we weren't in the hotel much, the pub next door was really good and it was handy to the shops The room was very small and quite claustraphobic, the shower took a while each morning to work and the walls were so thin that we could hear the other couples in the rooms next to us. The bed wasn't that big either as our feet hung off the bottom of it. |

Location very central, easy walking distance from main station, direct access to good pub and in the very heart of the city nightlife. The room cleanliness was excellent, in fact the whole place is spotless. Free wi-fi in lounge (but not in my room - might be in rooms at the front) was excellent. A room at the front might be a bit noisy on a Friday night - mine was at the back and completely quiet. Hey, don't expect to be in the very centre as the City parties, and then complain it gets noisy ! :o) |

It's location was excellent and the price was extremely reasonable. It is not fancy with lots of extras but we were not there for that and thus the price was very good. . Bathroom was a little small and tight. |

The location suited me well and the price did not seem too high. The people at the reception were friendly and helpful. There was a television, kettle and hairdryer and a reliable shower. I had no bedside light which meant getting up to switch off the light! The receptionist was not there when I arrived and there was a notice saying he/she would be back in ten minutes! The stairway seemed grubby and uncared for. This rather put me off. |

There was a fairly comfy bed in the third room I moved to. The hotel was open 24 hours per day. Most hings. The bed in the first room was broken, and the second room was directly above the bar. The third room was better, but very small and the extractor fan in the bathroom stayed on for ten mintues after I turned the lights out. Woken repeatedly during night by music and crashing outside. Poorly maintained stairwell and corridors. |

The room was nice and clean. The location was fantastic and couldn't be beat for the price. The staff was rude and were unavailable when I needed to check out. The hotel is also next to a pub, which is open and loud until quite late. |

Proximity to the Royal Mile & castle area. The room was clean, plumbing worked and shower was modern. Heat in the room was fine. I had a restful sleep.Bed was comfortable. Front desk staff was friendly and helpful. I would stay again at the Grassmarket for the price & location. No lift from the 1st to the 2nd floor, which would be hard for an older person with physical limitations to maneuver. However, I had no trouble, as my luggage was minimal and there was a lift from the ground floor to the 1st floor, which helped alot. |
