friendly helpful and cheerful staff Great location Quirky little room
Bar Location iPod dock in room
Fun rooms- liked the maps! Very friendly and helpful staff. Perfect position to explore edinburgh!!
The hotel is in a great location in the centre of Edinburgh which made it easy to get around and explore and very close to great bars and restaurants. The hotel is in an old building which adds to the quirkiness of it. The rooms are small but clean and comfy as well as being unique and fun! Perfect base for a few nights in the city. The staff were great- friendly and extremely helpful and accommodating.
Staff were friendly and so, so accommodating. If there was anything we needed, they got on it promptly - they were amazing. Clean, comfortable, not at all cramped, the location is amazing. We had a first floor, street facing room and we had no issue with outside noise at all though we did go Monday-Wednesday so maybe weekends would be different but I doubt it. The pub has live music 7 nights a week. We saw Matt Dunn and really loved him. If you see him billed anywhere, don't pass it up
The only complaint I could make is that our room was freezing but we brought it up with reception and within ten minutes we were warm again. Other than that, there's nothing bad to say about this place.
A fantastic change from the drab chain hotels, I'm so used to. Modern with funky decoration, a joy to stay in. And a free turnouts teacake every day!
WiFi reception was poor due to the thick walls.
Quirky but good hotel. fast and easy to access broadband. Good comfy rooms. Great value for money in the off season. What's not to like?
Did not like the idea of going into a pub for brekfast but it turned out good. great porridge served here. We hope to be back
Room and twin beds were very small for two male adults
Location and decoration!
iPod music player didnt work ....
Had a slight problem with shower not working. Would only work when sink tap was on.
Unusual and edgy hotel. Enjoyed the sudoku in room and so much to look at.
Toilet wasn't working properly so went to reception twice to try and get it sorted but nobody there. Also our room next to pub so but noisy but mainly as bin day and bins being put out.
I booked this hotel for my brother's family. We absolutely loved it. Spacious room, great location, quirky design. Would recommend.
the decor and clenliness
the staff were not forthcoming with information or facilities (tea, coffee, sweets on offer etc) ,,, the rooms are stupidly small! .. claustrophobic and stressful staying in these TINY rooms .... ok for 1 person but definately no room for 2 people to move about, 1 has to sit on the boxed in bed while one gets dressed .... toilets are even more cramped ... would not go back bcuz of room size
Changed room upon request Large bathroom (twin room 105) Great shower Comfortable bed Great view Quirky rooms
Staff on reception were ok and nice enough but felt like it was being run by students. BOOK A TWIN, ROOMS ARE BIGGER. Comes as two beds put together to make 1 big bed! Room 305 tiny. Room 105 much bigger. The doubles are sold as "snugs". I assumed a twin was two separate beds but clearly not. iPod system in room didn't work properly. Which was a shame because it was main feature we enjoyed the most last time. Went to reception for AUX cable which they provide. Only for the poor night man saying he didn't know what it was so couldn't help me.
Hotel was very clean, shower was excellent, bed was so comfy! Love the added extras in the room.
Not alot of room to get in one side of the bed and no reading lamp on that side of the bed due to restricted leg room.
breakfast, location friendly personnel small but nice room good coffee&tea facilities in the room
low water pressure in shower
Very small room- "cosy" is an understatement. Lots of noise from the Irish bar next door which kept us awake. Maze like layout of the hotel-the lift only goes to floor 1 despite there being 4 floors. It felt like a backpackers hostel not a hotel.
It's in a great location with bars and restaurants close as well as the Castle. The room was good with an excellent bathroom and interesting decor
Location, friendly reception, décor, and close to good places to eat.
Breakfast was a bit of a let down, a few tables in what felt like a public bar. Traveller (two l's) in Q1 above.
- perfect location for going out, sightseeing and eating - very friendly stuff - integrated pub - nice rooms
The funky room and a great bathroom nice details of real ground coffee and tea cakes
Terrible noise in room from live band in bar below until after 1am ok if you dont need to be up early for a flight. Should be made clear on booking.
Generally what was in the room was good. Bed very comfortable
Bedroom, for the money, was ridiculously small. Bed enclosed on three sides. Staff more interested in their mobile phones! More customer care at breakfast (for the price paid) would have been appreciated. Breakfast very basic. No toast/jam offered. We had to ask and even then no jam came.
decor, relaxed atmosphere, location
Location and facilities great
Double room well had bigger shoe boxes
Bed was very comfortable and pillows excellent decent coffee/teas provided in quality and quantity location was quiet-relief due to rugby weekend breakfast staff in pub extremely helpful good walking location to Princes Street various Museums etc would have been very useful if coming for the tourist bit rather than seeing relatives
overbright light in bathroom no good for make up poor light by door mirror no room to work if I had brought my laptop room either very loud fan or cold if fan turned off. Insufficient bedding -slept with coat over duvet and cardigan lack of anywhere comfortable to sit outside and including room encouraged to spend on breakfast in advance- actual cost of choice paid for separately 40% less than the encouraged pay in advance £10 so I am glad I did not pay in advance room very small and cramped -suitable only for very short stay without much luggage Wi-Fi in rooms rather than just uncomfortable reception area would encourage a repeat visit
