I loved the interior decoration and the attention to details in the room (lovely coffee, large selection of teas, nice soaps). Very silent at night. Perfect location. Very friendly staff, sparkling clean, all new.
Pleasant staff, comfortable bed, nicely decorated themed rooms , pick and mix in reception, nice coffee and tea cakes in room. Well located in old town. Highly recommended.
One of tea cups had a crack.
Rooms were a bit small
We loved the location of the hotel, close enough to the attractions but far enough away if you want a quiet night. Staff were extremely welcoming. We also loved the decor of our room quirky but very appealing.
everything was amazing couldn't of looked after us better
only thing didn't like was the wifi we were in 209 and really hard to pick up wifi luckily got 4g so not to bad
The location is superb, the air conditioning in the room could be regulated, comfy bed, tea and coffee making facilities in the room, fast wifi, next door pub with live music every night. Taxi from Waverley station (Airlink bus stop) cost me only £ 4,5.
Excellent hotel for little money. The Shower was great. Wifi connection was patchy at times, but not too bad. I will use it again.
Hotel was crackin'. Staff not stuffy and really friendly and helpful. We loved the funky, albeit bijou room. Toiletries gorgeous. Tunnock Tea cake - the icing on the cake. Mega central. Food in Biddies lovely, as were staff and drinks of course. Promo on offer fab!!Recommend room on 3rd floor so undisturbed by pub. Happily return again :-)
Corridors a bit warren-like so suspect that after a few 'beverages' it could be easy to get a tad lost. Apart from that we have no complaints or criticisms.
loved the complimentary tea cakes and the whole atmosphere of the hotel. Breakfast was also fantastic.
Superb room - spacious and clean Friendly staff Excellent bar adjacent Close to city centre
Windows didn't open

Loved the hotel decor and atmosphere, great big comfy bed and shower room. The staff were always incredibly helpful with any questions. The location was perfect, everything was within walking distance. And we loved the little touches that were included in the room - the Tunnocks teacakes
Thoroughly enjoyed our 2 night stay here. Close to many pubs/restaurants and the Royal Mile. Staff were extremely helpful and attended to all our needs. Would recommend this to anyone going to Edinburgh for a short trip.
Shower didn't work both mornings. On the first morning, staff suggested turning on the tap to release air bubbles which worked but unfortunately this didn't on the second morning. However, we were given a key to a different room to use the shower and staff were very apologetic.
excellent room facilities, love the ipod dock and big flat screen TV. Good sized kettle and mug, and plenty of sockets really handy. The bathroom is excellent and extremely clean!
The hotel Wifi was extremely slow and didn't connect half the time. It was impossible to stream media or even to browse webpages as it could drop off any second. The room ceiling is also very low which makes it cozy but also could get claustrophobic at times.
Safe in room, ipod docking playing simultaneously in bathroom and bedroom, lovely bathroom, nice hospitality and festive touches, unique and interesting accommodation. Amazingly quiet in spite of being in pub district and city centre. Wish I'd booked breakfast!
Noticed intermittent electronic/buzz noise during the night - don't know if this was air-con or if a neighbouring room or lift.
Great location for walking around the city, good bar located next door to start your night off, live band when we were there. Short walk from the castle.
Rooms felt a bit small but that's being picky, would stay again. Nothing to do with hotel but taxis in Edinburgh are nightmare, book in advance!
It would have been helpful to have a small bar fridge in the room. Even tho i booked some time ago we were put on a different floor to our children. This was odd as the double room right next door to our children was cleaned everyday we were there so I don't understand why this was not allocated to us
This is our fourth time staying at the grassmarket hotel and it definately won't be our last. We come here for the quirky decor, the laid back atmosphere, the informed and passionate staff and the fabulous location. The grassmarket hotel ticks all boxes for us and will be returning in the near future.
breakfast was superb value for money. would definately use this hotel again. small and compact, but warm and friendly.
Location is great. Stayed in a single room. It was lovely, a nice size. Very clean and comfy. Quiet. Loved the interior- very funky! Will go back anytime.
Everything was the perfect base for the perfect holiday
Everything is right on this hotel's doorstep, couldn't get a better location.
The room and toilet was very clean. The theme of the hotel is very modern.
The receptionist when we arrived was a bit rude, we understand that we arrived at least 20 mins before check-in but she only said with a very bad attitude: its too early to check-in come back at 2pm... in other hotels the staff at least check if the room is available or not; or tell you in a polite way that you need to wait. Also, the double room is very small and there is practically no space to move around if you are two people.
Welcome from staff, room decor, tea and coffee choices.
Corridors a little tired, walls marked.
Only thing I can critique is that there was a hole in the wall in our room 203. Apart from that it was excellent
