Staff were friendly. Trying to get an early night I soon came to realise that I was sleeping in the noisiest room that I have ever stayed in in a hotel. By 11.30pm it had become unbearable. I phoned reception to no avail. Went to reception to no avail. I went back to my room and eventually got through to reception. I was told that the noise (which can only be described as trying to sleep in an extractor fan) come from the hot water boiler. They had problems and complaints about this before and to be fair I was moved straight away - though by this point it was 12.30am. What I don't understand is that if they had had problems before with that room and they had a quieter single room available why they didn't put me in that one in the first place.

The Hotel is beautiful. A truly traditional olde worlde type English Hotel. The food (steaks) were excellent. The gardens something to behold. Staff were very friendly and helpful - even when we could not get a taxi to the station, one of them offered to take us when he finished his breakfast shift. We were most impressed. I would recommend a car. We relied on taxis which were few and far between. The walk from the centre of Grange over Sands was practically vertical!!! But well worth it with an ample bar awaiting at the Hotel!

I was greeted with friendly efficiency. My room was well equipped and spotlessly clean. Staff went out of their way to cater for residents needs and all was conducted with friendlyness and a sense of humour without familiarity. The food was varied, well cooked with excellent presentation and plenty of it.The furnishings are on a par with a stately home except you can flop onto the chairs. The gardens are stunning!

It was a nice relaxing environment in which to chill out. It suited what we required after 3 busy days of activity prior to our stay. We felt that it was ideally located for our visit to Cartmel races. We weren't made to feel particularly welcome, however, we did feel that the young man who served us breakfast on the Monday morning made an excellent effort to get to know us and to find out the nature of our stay and previous days holiday experiences.

Great garden despite some of the trees overshadowing the sea views. Rooms comfortable, nice atmosphere in the hotel, cosy sitting rooms and bar. Antique furniture was fitting to the history of the building plus the wooden staircases and general oldy woldy creakiness, all very positive. Snack menu was sandwiches, little else to choose on the menu which did not involve a large, formal main meal in the dining room which was £20 minimum a head. The cooked breakfast was very good apart from the hash brown which was well overcooked. The driveway could do with smoothing out a little although I realise this would be quite expensive. I was not travelling as a solo guest but in a single room with my elderly father in the next room. However there is no box to tick to make this clear.

Our stay was extremely confortable and the staff were exceptionally professional and welcoming. The atmosphere was so tranquil and relaxed that we stayed an extra night! The grounds are beautiful and we had many walks in the grounds overlooking Morecambe Bay. I couldn't recommend it enough!

Beautiful gardens with nice glimpses of the estuary, lots of parking and very attentive staff in a peaceful location (at least outside). Room 15 (a single) is tired and well overdue a refurb (i.e. Stained carpets). Worst of all, it neighbours a plant room or the like, which generates a relentless mechanical hum. I travelled over 250 miles that day and just wanted a restful night's sleep before an early 7am departure next morning. Did not sleep a wink and left more tired than when I arrived. I could insist on not having room 15 on future bookings but with lager at £4 a pint and no breakfast till 8am it really doesn't cater to the business traveller. Such a shame it could be outstanding.

The grounds and gardens were magnificent, the building was old and most attractive and there was a range of very comfortable public rooms. The upkeep of the external fabric of the hotel is obviously proving a little expensive - the was an air of grand decay.

Good, quiet position with sea views. Beautiful gardens The place looked a little tired, as though it could do with an update. The drive up to the hotel was very rough and parking was very haphazard.

I knew of the Manor previously, and had already had lunch in the beautiful gardens. Though I usually stay with friends, on this occasion(funeral) I chose to stay in a hotel. I do like both the gardens and the very traditional feel of the place. Everone was very friendly, and on the day of the funeral I was able to have an early breakfast. I had an excellent deal, and though the room was cold, I did not have the nerve to complain!

The staff the gardens the interior public rooms and corrridors The room I stayed in could have done with an up date the shower was old fashioned and I didnt use it as you had to judge temperature through taps the wallpaer was peeling a bit in the bathroom and the bathroom curtain didnt fit the window I just felt that a lick of paint would have made a huge difference and a new carpet, shame as the hotel was otherwise perfect

All the staff were very friendly, efficient & helpful. The rooms we had, were good with great views. Breakfast was excellent, so were the evening meals we had in the restaurant. Nice lounges and bar area The gardens were lovely and well looked after. Our bathroom could of been a little more up to date and a bit cleaner.
