Very pleasant staff. Very clean Nice immediate surroundings Breakfast was superb

The noice from Stanstead particularly early morning. Rooms not available until 2 pm when the wedding we were attending was at 12.30 so therefore no where to change after a journey.

Nice hotel Excellent restaurant Good surroundings Convenient distance to airport

Air craft very noisy (obviously next to flight path) People up and banging around at different hours thought the night I did not find the beds very comfortable, very hard! (Personal preference)

My toddler loved the planes going over- a constant source of amazement, noise not a problem at night. Staff and facilities were great, beautiful location, very friendly and relaxed. Our room was spacious which was a surprise as we had a x2 double.

very hot weather = very hot rooms. Not a problem very often I imagine!

Lovely peaceful setting. Friendly and efficient staff. Good sized room and bed. Food was tasty and reasonably priced. We only had dinner as we were out early.

It was really warm and there was no airconditioning in the room. Although the staff did find us a fan. The bathroom only had a shower, no bath. It's nice to have the option.

    - extremely friendly staff - very pretty surrounding - nice 1 hour walking path through forest - goes from the hotel to the next village. - delicious ice cream, beautifully presented on ice. - tasty grilled salmon Ceasar salad - great water filtered and bottled in the hotel - nice bathroom - lovely gardens - good value for money

    - doors to the rooms are nice, solid wood, but it is impossible to open and close them quietly - planes taking off over the property, not for people that have difficulties with sleeping - place is in the middle of nowhere, if you don't have a car you spend a lot of money on taxis

Nothing - although I suspect the staff tried their best

There is not enough space to list the dislikes, starting with the impossibility of access to the hotel (they had closed the road) except via a 10 mile unmarked detour along lanes and the main street of a town. prior to departure. I thought that I had booked a hotel only 3 minutes drive from the airport, but it took more than 30 minutes to get there (no signs or directions given of course). When I eventually did find my way there (the SatNav was not much use) it appeared that the hotel had closed the road to start major work on the land opposite, presumable to modify or to build another annex. The manager seemed more concerned that the equipment and materials had arrived before the road was closed and that he had the cost of an additional day without any work being done. Naturally the original (modern) annex was closed and being used to store building plant and materials and I was informed that my reservation had been “upgraded” from the annex to an “executive room” in the hotel. It was of course a downgrade - the only executives that could have used that room were from Lilliput thanks to the sloping ceilings. Worse still was the small window at floor level that gave virtually no natural light and a skylight that not only gave little light but exacerbated the already steam bath conditions in the room. The light was so bad (both natural such as it was and the ill-designed artificial versions together) that it was impossible even to read a book. And so it went on – the bar was closed for the evening and an attempt to divert customers to the huge formal (and expensive) dining room. Being a converted old house, the usual problems were present – no air conditioning, floorboards that creaked alarmingly if even a fly landed on them, no soundproofing (despite being on the airport fly path) and plumbing that could produce only a bare trickle of water (making the shower useless) and a maximum temperature of tepid.

Second room after being changed was good. Service was good staff pleasant.

Initial room not ready when we arrived at 2 PM as had been indicated as booking in time. When room eventually ready floors were wet , it smelt and there was damp/mildew growing on bathroom walls. We complained and our goods were transferred to another very acceptable room for when we returned later in the day. If the room had been checked this would not have been necessary indicating poor quality control.

Very nice would definitely go again but need to book the evening meals at the same time as the room

The only thing wrong was they were turning residents away for evening meals because they had entertainment on in the restaurant.

Very convienient for London Stansted airport (we had a very early flight).

No air conditioning in the rooms - extremely uncomfortable (unable to have windows open due to aircraft noise). Didn't make for a comfortable sleep :-( I wouldn't say the hotel is bad, but I wouldn't personally stay here again.
