Rooms very clean and new. Good choice of sky channels, fantastic shower. Plenty of free parking spaces, lovely underfloor heating, very close to Stansted airport without being a typical airport stopover hotel. Good price. There was a nasty drainlike smell from the shower and we changed rooms, the smell was still there but much less apparant. There was a function on in the hotel and the staff were stressed and bickering with each other in front of guests. Menu was very expensive. Bar menu was very limted. Even though the barn conversion was new with double glazing the noise from the overhead planes was very evident. |

We missed our flight at Stansted and booked this hotel on a 10 minute drive from the airport for the night. It was fabulous. The room was enourmous and the bathroom one of the nicest ones I've ever seen. Would definately stay again if I'd miss my flight again. Apparently, it's also popular for weddings. People who sleep lightly might have a problem with the planes flying over, they can be a bit loud. |

Excellent welcome, friendly staff, fine food and a surprisingly fine wine list This hotel suffers from the venner of excellence spoilt by poor build quality and interior fit out. Bathrooms in particular were really bad. To achieve the greatness hinted at by the food, these details need addressing. |

Not much The staff seemed aloof. Service was slow, from check-in to breakfast. Strange smell in room on arrival. So near airport, (single glazing) one hears each plane, not a restful experience. |

Great staff, great value, great room design, fantastic setting and location It has the benefit of being near to Stansted and all the benefits that brings however the hotel is right under flight path, I found the aviation noise annoying and a bit intrusive, In fairness they were taking off that day under full power but landing planes may be me quieter. |

The location was perfect and the staff were very friendly, professional and keen to please the guests. The showers were excellent too. The breakfast was very disappointing - a lack of yoghurts and cereals and only basic sliced white or brown bread to choose from. |

We had an excellent experience at the Great Hallingbury Manor Hotel. The room was good size. The bathroom was very nice. The service at the front desk was amazing. We had a great chat with the attendant as we waited for our cab to the airport. I would certainly recommend it. If we are in the area again we will be staying at the Great Hallingbury. Superb!! As is the case for most hotels in the London area, there is no central air so we opened our window to let in a little cool area. With the window open you can hear the planes overhead flying to nearby Stansted Airport. It was not really a problem for us and with the windows closed you really couldn't notice. If I had one complaint it would be that, but it really wasn't a problem for my wife and I. |

Its efficiency and quality. We were very pleased that the wifi worked without a hitch and were grateful for the prompt taxi service to the airport and the convenient method of parking our car prior to going abroad. |

Me and my boyfriend stayed in one of the Deluxe rooms located in the Stables, a modernised building housing a small number of rooms slightly away from the main reception/restaurant, it was absolutely gorgeous and in immaculate condition. Alot of care and attention has clearly been taken to ensure a high standard has been met and it did. The location is in the path of planes departing from Stansted Airport but me and my partner are both plane spotters so didn't mind that. The noise was kept to a minimum. It didn't disrupt our time there. The staff were very helpful and our expectations were met. It has a very personal touch which indicates the care and dedication the staff have towards their guests and the hotel itself. |

Excellent Hotel. Sympathetically restored. Still a little way to go to completion I suspect. Perfect for a short business stay. Aircraft noise. Directly on the Stansted flight path and deafening at times. Breakfast service a little sloppy. |

It was a gastranomic feast. Exceptionally good, if a little short, wine list. Attention to detail in the room could be improved. Internet not working, no clothes hangers, one bath robe. |

The staff were excellent, moving us to a different room at our request due to a rather nasty drain smell which we thought was coming from the bathroom, but turned out to be coming in from outside. The club sandwich from the room service menu was delicious. The room we moved to was clean and comfortable, but the 'underfloor cooling system' was not doing its job and the room was sweltering. We could not open the windows due to the nasty drain smell outside |
