Loved the fact we got a complimentary upgrade from the hotel, that was a lovely treat! I did not like the fact that there was very little in 'welcoming' you to Great John Street hotel and not enough explanation from front desk, regards to what they were doing with your bank card i.e the first hold or payment they charge you and then again on the departure of the hotel, why they then take another swipe of your card.

When it was time to leave....all the power cuts,Brown cold tap, shower & bath water, abusive members of staff!!!!!!!!!! Staff unhelpful, rude & arrogant. That I could walk away laughing instead of crying apart from my girlfriend who was crying due to the rude unhelpful staff when recieving upto 4 powercuts and no water...... if you want to abused made to feel like a child & have the worst night of your life then please book...but it wont be a nice experience!!!!! The feeling of sadness, wasted travel, wasted day....depression,trauma & the feeling of being violated....& too see my girlfriend i was due to propose to so sad, hurt & upset by the treatment of the rude senior manager that was no help at all but very aggressive when asking to be re-located or refunded due to five powercuts which lasted up to 6 hours, told not to shower or change to get ready for a romantic evening due to the hotels terrible water system that gave us cold brown mucky water my dog would never bathe in!!!!! offered a complimentry drink due to the situation then charged which was a complete joke of the matter & a kick in the teeth.....

Good location on a quiet street near to Spinneyfield with a number of new bars and trendy shops . a personal boutique hotel, very comfortable and relaxing. Great use of space in the room with the sitting area downstairs it almost felt like a city apartment rather than a hotel room. Upstair on the mezzanine was a large comfy bed and a bathroom with everything you need. All made for a very pleasant stay. The only thing to comment on was the poor sound proofing of the room. Either that or we were very unlucky to have noisy neighbours on both sides !!!

Great atmospher, make it very easy with the valet parking and the bedroom suite was devine . The quality of the food was first class The time it took from ordering the cooked breakfast to receiving it The fact it didnt have formal dining in evening - had to make alternative plans to eat out

A really beautifully designed hotel using the building of the Old School House to maximum effect.Very welcoming and helpful staff who made you feel like a treasured guest in a private house. Our room was lovely and had a fantastic roll top bath on the mezzanine level and one of the most comfortable beds I have ever slept in!Lovely big squashy sofas to chill out in at the Oyster Bar and a most attentive bar staff, breakfast was upstairs and was absolutely delicious. We are definely coming back!

The hotel is unique in design within an old school. The rooms are unusual in design, on two floors. In a good location, close to shops and restaurants. Staff are friendly and helpful The roof bar is a nice aspect of the hotel Bar prices are expensive which is typical of so many hotels. Breakfast is very expensive, we ate out, which is a shame when rooms are not cheap.

Unfortunately charged £6.50 service charge for them bringing a bottle of champagne to our room even though we went to the bar to order. Small thing, but things like that should be free!

This hotel is one of our favorite hotels in the Uk, the other been the soho in London, and it never fails to deliver we had a lovely weekend in Manchester. And can not wait to go back. However I do feel there standards are slipping There was a hotel on whilst we were there, so there was a lack of a bar and facilities, which when you are paying £200 for a room you would expect. The wedding was also noisy at night with music, which could be heard on the second floor of the hotel. The window had also been left open in the room, which we could not see as they are massive windows, so we also got the noise from the outside. And old soap was found in the shower. We love this hotel and it is still amazing to go and stay I just hope they are not letting there standards slip...

This was the first time my partner and I had stayed at the Great John Street Hotel. We had heard excellent reviews about the place and we weren't disappointed! The hotel is quite intimate with only 30 rooms and during our stay we were made to feel like VIPs. We had a fabulous time and wouldn't hesitate in recommending it. We will look forward to our next visit which we hope won't be too far away!

Very nice and quirky room, comfy bed and bedding. Very noisy. Walls paper thin, and could hear conversations and more from rooms on either side and above (Room 37) Air conditioning didn't manage to make the room comfortable, which had been pointed out by others on trip advisor. Receptionist didn't appear interested that I wasn't happy with room. 2 glasses of Pinot Grigio wine £17.00, car parking £25

Great John Street Hotel is a very nice hotel and we really enjoyed our stay here. Things I liked; friendly and helpful staff, very comfy bed and a great shower. The only thing I would say is the carpets let the presentation of the hotel down (they are stained and dirty) and quite a few of the fixtures were damaged within the room. However it didn't ruin our stay but in future I would more likely book the Radisson or the Midland.

From the initial welcome through to the bar staff and the house keepers, every member of staff was courteous, friendly and helpful. A real credit to the management team. Room was a little noisy in the morning but this was the smallest inconvenience.
