This Victorian school has been transformed into a chic town house with roof garden. It is next to Granada Studios and close to the shopping and theatre districts. Great John Street Hotel has stylish bedrooms with special features. Some rooms have twin baths, a mezzanine level or views of the Coronation Street set. Manchester Opera House is 300 metres away, and Manchester Central is about 10 minutes' walk away. Escape to the rooftop garden with its large hot tub, city views and heated veranda with loungers. The elegant Oyster Bar opens till late and is a cosy space for afternoon tea, drinks and relaxing. The bright Kitchen is open for a tasty Irish breakfast or private dining. One of the friendliest, most personable hotels I have stayed in (and have been to a lot). We had a big PR event to do and stayed aswell and nothing was a problem! From the reception to the restaurant everyone here made you feel so welcome! I want to move in... didnt stay long enough!

Lovely setting and a nice relaxed atmosphere. The staff were great and very accommodating and the Baby Grand room was ideal for one nights stay in the city. The breakfast was lovely but a little overpriced. Overall a fantastic hotel. A few issues with cleanliness but nothing major.

The staff were excellent, it was my wifes birthday and they upgraded our room and had some hand made chocolates waiting for us,a brilliant experience in a great central location,i will be back must admit there is nothing i didnt like

The room was very nice and the bed was very confortable. We were very dissapointed that we could not access any of the bars due to private functions and it spoilt the night completeley. We coomplained when checking out as we were only told of this on ou arrival, however we were told when we checked out that a message had been left on my phone but I did not receive this message. Very upset about this!!!! Also the room was very hot during the night.

All the staff were very helpful, knowledgeable and friendly. The hotel design, especially the room was excellent and its adaptation from its original function as a school was very well done. Location was great.

The staff were pleasant and courteous and the food was decent The hotel is impractical( wardrobe in the lounge and bedroom upstairs!!) most of all the hotel is uncomfortably hot!! The air con was noisy and will not go under 20degrees. A very uncomfortable night. I expected a lot more from a hotel chargeing over £250 for bed and breakfast

We had our wedding ceremony at the hotel followed by our wedding breakfast and evening reception. Every single person that attended the day said it was one of the best weddings they had ever been to!!! Every member of staff gave impeccable service nothing was to much trouble and they looked after each and every one of us. This is one of the best hotels we have ever stayed in, and would not hesitate to stay here again and again. Fantastic!!!!!!!!

The hotel itself was splendid and has been sympathetically refurbished to a high standard. The room was small, but good use was made of the limited space by the mezzanine floor containing the bathroom/shower/toilet. The staff were extremely accommodating and polite and the overall experience pleasing. The prices at the bar were outrageous. I was charged £26.70 for a double gin and tonic and a large glass of wine. No wonder the bar was empty! Also, £16.50 for breakfast seems rather expensive. Accordingly, we declined and ate elsewhere

Design Hotel, Nice and Big Rooms, Old and Historical British School converted to a design hotel perfectly, you feel that times everywhere in the hotel.Good and Helpfull hotel staff. They charge everthing bfast, newspapers to your room etc.. you should check if they charge car park also. I couldnt find free bottled waters in the room.
