The room I ended up getting moved to at half past midnight Well where do I start..... On arrival at the hotel it took us 30min before the recepstionist got to us then to be told that they had giving my room away even tho I booked it a week before..they then said they had 1 room left but it had not been made up so they said that they where going to do it so I followed them up to the room to drop my bags off and they then told me that the room is being used by a member of staff it was stinking so after getting dinner I went back up to the room and it was disgusting the bed had yellow staines in it no duvet cover the toilet had lots of pubic hair lying everywhere the bin had not been emptied....so I went downstairs and complained they then said the room was 39pound a night but they charged me 50 pound for the first room I was meant to get and never got refunded..so they then said that they had a suite left but wanted me to pay a futher 100pound no way I said and all they kept on saying was the manager will go mad I had to laugh at that...the result was I got the suite for no extra charge but I will never step foot in that hotel again

The Breakfast was fantastic, and for an overnight stay I was pleased with the rate. Unfortunately the stay was marred by a depressingly small room accessed by a maze of corridors. If all you want to do is sleep and shower.... Fine

The hotel was ideal for us as we were meeting friends in the Great Barr area of Birmingham. Things were fairly quiet on the Friday but that suited us fine. The bar and restaurant looked inviting but we didn't make use of them on this occasion, however the breakfast was excellent. The hotel is close to junction 7 on the M6 and is ideal for an overnight stop-off. It's a fairly large hotel with plenty of parking and has entertainment on some evenings which is popular. Prices are very reasonable compared to similar hotels and we would certainly use the Great Barr again in the future.

Nice staff. Made you feel welcome when you arrived. The room was quite nice. There was two big funtions going on with quite a bit of loud music but I couldn,t hear it from my room as the bedrooms are away from that area so I had a really good sleep.

The bar area The only thing I didn't like about the hotel was the room, extremely tired looking, door handles missing, trouser press broken, unattractive bathroom.

The staff were very polite and helpful, particularly in the breakfast room. The room was supposed to be a superior single but it was shabby and smelt damp. There was no extractor in the bathroom and the window was difficult to open. The decoration was very tired and dated; it would definitely benefit from a complete refurbishment.

Convenient position in relation to our destinations. Good car parking facillities Good breakfast Stayed in room 223 the extraction fan in the next room was very noisy and was left on for over an hour at around midnight We were unlucky to have a familly with a young baby who kept us awake until 2.30 AM crying

If you know or are happy to find your way around without using the motorways it is a brilliant location for the West Midlands. Good bar and restaurant with fair prices. My room was a little cramped and the corridors / stairs needed decorating and better signage this aspect gave the wrong impresion of a reasonable quality hotel. I would be selective as to whom among friends and aquaintences I suggested might like to stay at this hotel thought I would use it again myself.

Pricing, Enough parking space, and Breakfast was good. The ladies who "served" breakfast were very friendly. Restaurant: very poor and unprofessional service. Menu was very restricted (room service menu looked much better)

The staff were friendly. The room was tatty and in the bathroom the toilet was difficult to flush, the sink plug was not attached to the chain, and there were traces of mould on the walls.

It was in a great location for what we needed. The staff were all friendly. Parking was easy and plenty of it and we will go back again in the future as it is about 500 yards from our daughters new apartment.

“We really liked the design and feel of the hotel and the wet room was excellent, although I am glad there is at least a little privacy provided by the frosted glass. It was an easy walk to the city centre whilst there were numerous pubs and restaurants on the hotels doorstep.” Mark, Oxford |
