Friendliness of staff, wonderful food and log fires! Excellent value for money on both food and room rate

Not exactly disliked as it added to the charm, but hotel could do with a bit of updating in some parts

The location was good, close to Looe and the coast (although their suggestion you could do the drive in a few minutes was misleading); approached through an attractive (if rather run down) driveway.

The rooms were dirty - in particular the bathroom and the kitchen. There were previous occupants hair left in the sink and shower. The shower equipment was broken. There seemed to have been rapid and ineffective repainting, so that there were patches all over the walls, creating a run down air. The wardrobe in one of the rooms had mould and smelt - you could not advisdedly put clothes in it. The approach to the front door was past over-spilling rubbish bins. The car parking spaces were occupied by derelict furniture and equipment. And the gardens in front of the rooms were entirely untended. All in all it was a very depressing experience, so much so we had booked for three days and decided to go home after two.

Lovely surroundings, comfortable bed and friendly staff.

Very thin walls between bedrooms. Cooked breakfast seemed reheated instead of freshly cooked.

The dining facilities was excellant & beds comfortable

The bedroom could be updated ie decor / carpet, tv was not working properly & no radio either.

A lovely hotel in beautiful grounds. The staff were very welcoming and the food excellent.

Although the room was lovely, a few extra touches like a full length mirror, tissues, a shelf and hook in the bathroom would have finished it off nicely. Also there was no phone in the room to contact reception.
