Don't be put off by the area. A few bars for food and drink. It's a perfect base to stay, a short drive to the beautiful lake district and a short trip to the south lakes zoo. Secure parking and a lovely room to relax after your trips out

Lovely area would suit most people.

Lovely area would suit most people. There are hidden gems if you like to explore. Plenty of shopping facilities. Easy to eat out at reasonable prices. The roads are clearly signed and easy to navigate. A great base for either staying in Barrow-in=Furness or travelling around the lakes daily. A quiet holiday to extreme adventures, your choice is within the Lake District.

Hotel does not provide value for money, much better hotels available for cheaper price. Pockets of good/excellence from staff, but major improvements required in the hospitality food preparation particularly for breakfast, which was extremely dissappointing. Generally, grounds are okay but nothing particularly special, the description and photos, do not accurately reflect the experience. Would not take much to improve all round, as a number of staff were very nice and supportive.

This place has a really negative aura.

This place has a really negative aura. I can't even explain why but I was anxious while there. We should have booked a stay much closer to the Lakes or at least in Ulverston that is just a stone's throw away.

It was full of history didn't realise so much industrial work was done here from submarines to bricks and art also gateway to the lakes and stunning scenery well worth the journey and locals were very friendly and helpful. Easy to navigate around lots of tourist attractions and great for disabled travellers Lots of places to eat Hotel was well situated just out of town centre Very busy on a Saturday in the town centre rather loud so avoid if you don't like hen and stag nights overall a lovely break away

The Abbey House Hotel is a stylish character property on the outskirts of Barrow. The staff are attentive and courteous at all times. When we returned to our room for our second night, we discovered it had inexplicably been converted from a double into a twin, which was most perplexing and quite annoying. However, not only did the hotel send someone up to put it all back, they also stood us complimentary cocktails and supper. It isn't so much the mistakes you should rate a place on, but on what they do to make things right.

The hosts were lovely. Very friendly and nothing was too much trouble. Have us choice of two rooms. One bigger but across the hall for bathroom, one smallest but next to beautiful large bathroom. The decor and feel of this hotel was stunning. And just as we were leaving, we found out they have a swimming pool under renovation. It's a very deceiving property like a TARDIS, but without the Dr Who 😂 will definitely return. Such a wonderful relaxing time. There is even a fridge in the rooms too.

Efficient checking in process, the desk manned all the time by friendly staff, very clean and extra spacious comfortable room cleaned to an exceptional standard, lovely and quiet, tea/coffee in the room, brilliant location in the centre of town, spacious bar downstairs with plenty of tables and efficient staff. A great example of a Wetherspoons hotel. We found free on street parking 10 mins on foot up Hartington Street opposite the hotel.

very nice setting, remote and peaceful but still close enough to Barrow. Staff very extremely helpful and polite, could not do enough for me during my stay. food was very nice, varied menu and thoroughly enjoyed each meal I had, at a very decent price. room was large and spacious, with modern decor and a comfortable bed. Will use this hotel as my regular stay for work and cannot recommend highly enough.

Fantastic staff during the evening and in the morning. You don't want for anything, so very helpful. Room was immaculate, best sleep I have had in years. I can't believe some of the comments some people say here, It's Barrow and really quite cheap for what you get. So local and convenient and staff so helpful, good luck to them.

Free car park behind the hotel. Nice old style building with character. Breakfast had a good choice and was lovely. Eggs cooked perfectly for poached. Staff on checking in was really friendly and helpful. Room was lovely.. Single room on the top floor. Comfy bed. Cheaper last minute stay compared to travelodge or Premier Inn

Lovely quiet b&b with fabulous breakfast. I live in Barrow so wouldn't normally stay in hotels or b&bus in the town, but my boiler had broken and the house was freezing. Wasn't disappointed with the accommodation, owners got up early to do a breakfast for me before I went to work. Would certainly recommend to anyone.

There is a good consistent standard, the staff are always really friendly and the room is cleaned daily (unlike other hotel chains). When I'm in Barrow this my preferred location. Been attached to the bar and restaurant is helpful, the breakfasts and meal are not bank breaking like other hotels.

Really nice hotel, was upgraded upon arrival which was a nice bonus for our weekend away. Bar and restaurant was good, food was exceptional and reasonably priced. Would recommend staying here to anyone and was only 20mins from Windermere and a lot cheaper too.

It's cheap. It's not a luxury hotel, but a cheap one, so the problems were OK. Lack of hot water was ok for the 3 nights I stayed there. Staff friendly and helpful.
