Very comfortable, great breakfast and central location makes this a crackin' B&B. Staff were very friendly and accomodating.
Green Gables is a small guesthouse, but has a very big welcome. The staff were very helpful and accommodating. It enjoys a good location in the heart of Windermere with good access to the town centre. Great breakfast, all freshly cooked!
The room was small and now a little dated, but comfortable enough.
Everything, other than the stairs.
We will in future request ground floor room, but we managed, and would come again for sure.
Location Breakfast Clean, compact room
Early breakfast times and check out for a Sunday
Very comfortable accommodation with friendly hosts.
The breakfast is served at a well-fit dining room in a typical English manner with marvelous tastes. Great that Green Cables can make that happen in two days of my stay.
The guest house is close to the train station (5 minutes walk) but somewhat far from the lake (25 minutes walk).
Great location by locks Lovely breakfast Spacious bedroom and bathroom. Alan from NZ
Nothing we didn't like
Staffs are quiet passional and friendly! Breakfast is nice!
The staff were excellent, gave a warm welcome and breakfast was lovely.
it's near the station. the breakfast is pretty well.
the wifi is bad. the place is a bit far from the Bowness Pier,it takes about half an hour walking.
Location was excellent. Breakfast was excellent. Clean. Staff friendly and helpful. Our bed was comfortable. My brother's was a bit soft.
Just a bit difficult having to use a key to access ensuite accross corridor in the middle of night
Good location, 25 minute walk to the lake and close to bars and restaurants. Friendly staff. Clean and comfortable. Good breakfast.
we were warmly welcomed by the hostess. Windermere train station is 5 minutes' walk away. Tranquil surroundings
floor 2 room 7 was a bit small. the kettle and TV doesn't work well. shower room doesn't leak well
Every single thing! Really nice room, TV, private bathroom (separated from room but just in front), very close to the train station, literally less than 10 min walk. 3 min walk from town centre, shops and restaurants. The owner are very friendly and the breakfast amazing. Also you can take this buses going anywhere in Lake D from the train station (£8/day/ unlimited).
Check in time
Location is good. Not too far from station and lake side. Breakfast is nice. The owners are kind, friendly and helpful. Room is Awesome!
Friendly staff Good breakfast Clean rooms Value for money
welcoming staff who met my need for gluten free breakfasts
Although I knew before hand that there was no onsite parking. It is a drawback.
It is a lovely town. I liked the fact that there was wifi. They are located close to the station.
I will not go into detail, but I have to say I got the distinct feeling that the owner really does not like being in the hospitality industry. We were not impressed with the welcome we received upon arrival from the owner and the cleaning staff threatening us with charges if we dare break something. I would like to also suggest to the staff to ask people what they would like for breakfast before serving a full English breakfast on a plate. As I believe there are many people like me who cannot eat everything and it can lead to spoiling the entire breakfast. To cut a long story short, I wanted to cancel our booking a night earlier due to our travelling arrangements changing. I went to ask the manager Claire about this, who responded with "absolutely no problem, we will sort it all out for you". To me, this means I can cancel without payment. Well the next morning we were handed a bill for the full period. When I questioned her, I got a very aggressive, defensive, patronising and downright rude attitude from her, telling me that her saying she will "sort it out" in no way means I will not have to pay. I realise my mistake in not reading the terms and conditions thoroughly enough, but in my defence, where I come from, one can usually assume that management will inform you of their terms when for that exact reason you ask them about it specifically and in advance. The couple that owns this place, proceeded to treat us so badly, shouting at us, that I had to leave the room as not to upset my baby. And this is something I paid for?! I believe that we are reasonable people and that this situation could have been resolved so much more amiably. If they had just been able to find it in themselves to offer a simple apology and a little bit of kindness, we would have been happy to pay for the misunderstanding. However, after such an attack, suffice it to say, I will never stay here again, and wouldn’t wish the ‘hospitality’ of these people on anyone...
people were friendly very welcoming, food excellent. bed very comfy lovely location easy access to amenities. Would visit again.
Great breakfast, very friendly staff who couldn't do more for you. Very comfortable bed
Couldn't connect to wifi on the too floor where our room was
The staff were very kind and friendly.
Old furnitures and shower facilities.
I especially loved the friendliness of the people in the hotel, and the atmosphere, as well as the location, so close to the town centre and railway station.
