The location was convenient. The room was nicely decorated and clean. The facilities available were excellent The room service was efficient and the food was great.
It was just far to hot to be able to get a good nights sleep and as the room I had was on the ground floor I did not feel comfortable having the windows open.
The staff were so very nice and helpful. Reception was very welcoming as were the staff in the bar. The staff in the spa were very good and happy with their approach to me, a great place to stay after a stressful day at work. I look forward to have the opportunity to stay there again, even the cleaner was helpful.
The menu if I was to stay for a week would be a problem as the menu was quite small as to choice. In saying that the food I had was very good.
On checking in, we were given a twin bedded room instead of a double. This was rectified immediately and the Reception team were efficient and professional, as were the bar staff who responded to a couple of requests promptly and efficiently.
The steam room wasn't working and there was no signage or mention of this. Even after we reported it, the next day was exactly the same. This was a big disappointment for us. There was also a problem with the water, no pressure and the cold water was turned off. I almost scalded myself when trying to shower and was unable to wahs my hair. I waited at the Spa Reception, to return my gown, for more than 7 minutes without a sign of anyone. I was just about to return my items upstairs when two staff members emerged from the therapy room but there was no apology for leaving it completely unmanned or for keeping me waiting. I found this extremely unprofessional as I manage a Reception team myself, in a Corporate gym. They said they would put a sign on the showers as there was some emergency work being carried out due to the water problem. I was told it just affected the spa and not the whole building but I discovered there was no cold water anywhere when returning to my room. I checked out with unwashed hair in the end.
The rooms are luxurious.
Staff vacuuming and banging doors at 5:30 in the morning.
Couldn't have a bath has plug didnt fit!!
All staff were friendly and efficient
The hairdryer in the room was weedy but the ones in the changing rooms were good

Good staff, egar to please
Dead flys on bedroom window ledge , some lights didnt work in bedroom, bath peeling.Would expect more from 4 star hotel at £240 per night.I've paid same price for hilton at tower bridge!
My daughter purchased some toiletries for my birthday! she was very disappointed with them! Only 3 items should be 4 the hamper she wanted was now discontinued! Sleeping very noisy air con unit outside!
Free parking Friendly bar staff Gym Swimming pool sauna and steam room were excellent.
Receptionist was slow and couldn't find my booking at first. Then she couldn't provide me a receipt as I'd booked through booking.com?! I needed this to claim back expenses. No carpet on stairs gave the hotel the feel it was a work in progress don't get me wrong still a good hotel.
Being such a beautiful place, it is so sad that the concept of hospitality, politeness and general know how of how to run a hotel is not understood I'll start with the positives. The hotel is beautiful. The interior designer has done a fab job (other than the restaurant). The gardeners should be patted on the back for doing such a beautiful job. But unfortunately any good points stop there My initial interactions with the hotel did not put me in a good frame of mind before I arrived I have to say I originally emailed the hotel to check availability and price and asking for a room with a balcony or terrace. Two days later they came back with a price of £155 for the night, making much of the fact that included spa access (which I later found out every room price does). No answer to my query relating to a balcony or terrace. Two days after after asking again I got a reply. Only one room has facility. Available for my dates. Good I then go on to booking.com to check the price. £100 per night !!!!! How can a hotel offer a higher price when booking direct and when there are no commissions to be paid I therefore booked via booking.com with free cancellation within seven days. I then realised I had booked the wrong date and cancelled it within seven days, supposedly free of charge. The an email came in to say that I was being charged. I contacted booking.com who were as efficient as possible, They agreed that the cancellation should be free and noticed that there was a disparity with the booking conditions they had and those being imposed by the hotel booking.com sorted it out but wasn't over pleased on this after the hotel had tried to charge me an additional £55 I rebooked for the correct night and included the request for the terrace/balcony room and asked the hotel to let me know if that wasn't possible. I heard nothing. So assumed all ok Turned up at the hotel. A most pretty receptionist but one who has yet to learn how to smile.

I heard nothing. So assumed all ok Turned up at the hotel. A most pretty receptionist but one who has yet to learn how to smile. Or at least be polite. Check in was perfunctory. I asked about the terrace/balcony. Not available. I referred her to my booking note. Nothing to do with her unfortunately but she would check with reservations. Heard nothing. She informed me that the room I wanted had been booked for a long time. I told her that wasn't true as I had checked on the day of booking that it was still available.
Two single beds unconnected to one another does not equate to a doubled bed.
No air conditioning in rooms but noise from air conditioning too loud to leave windows open. Asked for a fan and they produced a fan heater. Poor value for money. Barhrooms very tired and showers not good.
The setting for this hotel is just perfect, the hotel itself is lovely, clean, comfortable and I will definitely go back. Worth every penny.
Everything was great, I can not moan
Great location for our business, set in a nice village with easy access to Brentwood and Chelmsford Food was excellent
Terrible nights sleep! Fire alarm going off throughout the day and night (at least 15 times during my 1-night stay) with the siren directly above the bed. No wi-fi A lot of items in the room poorly positioned and fitted. (toilet seat, showerhead, window hardware, sockets) I booked at a greatly reduced rate but still feel I overpaid.
Great facilities with spa and nice rooms
using spa facilities was long winded. ..getting robes etc...very expensive breakfast...wifi did not work.
The rooms are dated. This hotel is not worth £100 a night never mind the £220 that I paid. No pen and paper in the room, no bottled water. The fixtures are all rusty on the bathroom. Very dated and well over rated and priced!
Surroundings beautiful aetting
Mentioned 2 staff members that bath plug area was blocked stayed 3 nights still blocked when we left mentioned it again on departure would thing twice about staying again
That they have taken away the ice machine in the spa, this cooled us down in the sauna, also at that fact that once we checked out at 11 we wasn't able to use the spa, which before we could, the pillows wasn't nice either apart from that was lovely :)
The spa looked nice although we didn't have time to use them. The restaurant was empty but the food was nice and the waiting staff were good.
Small room. Small bed which was also very uncomfortable. Noise from workmen at 8am. When I went to the bathroom (with very few clothes on), there was a workman directly outside my window! I was not amused and was only offered an apology from the hotel for my distress.
Dinner was fantastic. very good food. Bedroom overlooking pond. No noise with the exception of a very noisy room next door. A policy should be enforced ' no loud music in the rooms' All in all. A pleasant stay and I will be back.
Noisy room next door
Staff and facilities. Evening meal was very good
Breakfast was very basic and well below the standards set overall.
Firstly had a double bed where the matress was two singles joined into a double. Was very uncomfortable! Secondly out side orders for dinner were forgot about and given to us after we had eaten the main course, very poor organisation Lastly our room was not clean to a good standard before arrival. Overall seemed like a very rushed and sloppy service and spoiled out stay which was very disappointing.
The location,food and the spa.
We was in room 27 and I pointed out to the staff on reception that the fire door right outside my room seemed to be very loud when self closing. They assured me no one else had complained about it before. Trust me you hear the door slam all the time in the room, so unless you like to be kept awake by the last person going to bed and woken up by the first one getting up for breakfast, choose another room!!
pool was great. Staff were friendly and welcoming
wi-fi needed a new code ever day so previous days code didn't work first thing
