Room and evening meals were good value for money
We had breakfast at 9am on Sunday and the hot food was past its best.
Nice spacious room, big bed, clean room, fabulous black rock steaks in restaurant.
Felt like I was doing them a favour when I checked in. Receptionist did not crack a smile once (blonde woman). Having to walk out of the hotel and accross the car park in the cold and rain to get to the restaurant is not good. Again, restaurant staff gave the impression of just not being that bothered. It was like I had gate crashed a gentlemens club that I was not a member of, despite there not being much that would attract me as a member anyway. Room was nice but bathroom fan did not work and consequently when showering, condensation had nowhere to go and water ran down the walls and all over the floor. Reported faulty bathroom fan to reception and was told "they come on on a timer". Person I spoke to seemed unsure of when that was and frankly it seems quite bizarre. Do I sit and wait for the fan to start up before I can shower? What happens if you want a shower in the evening? I showered at three different times and the fan did not come on once. Tiny TV but could not even watch a movie on my laptop as the internet signal was awful every day. Could not download anything without it crashing, so could not even complete my work in the evenings (or at any other time I tried). Could be a nice hotel if staff tried a bit harder, and gave the impression that they gave a toss. I have further business to conduct in January nearby, but I will not be going back to this hotel. I will stay somewhere where I feel welcome and where my custom is valued.
Stunning location. Helpful & courteous staff. Spacious & well equipped room. Quiet nights sleep Delicious, well cooked food.
Only one gripe - lumpy pillows!
Good, peaceful location. Large comfortable bedroom with good bathroom.
Room had not been very well cleaned and had to ask twice to get this rectified.
We liked the large double bed and the spacious room. The views over the course were lovely and a very good breakfast for the price. Staff very friendly and helpful.
Would have liked a room with a view over the course not the car park but it didn't spoil our stay.
position view cleanliness
bit noisy from car park and fellow guests
An oasis of calm just minutes away from the busy A1
A quite and peaceful place. Great for those of you that seek for a break from the hectic lifestyle. The view from the room is great (beautiful golf grounds). The staff is pleasant. The breakfast is very good. We also had dinner at the restaurant - we especially liked the steak served on a hot black rock - it was great!
Location View from Window Breakfast Buffet
Wrong room on arrival Wait to check out
Beautiful spot, helpful team, good food
the location, the views from the room the quality of the room and fittings the bar/restaraunt area and the steak served on a red hot slab was unique and a brilliant idea
Breakfast was a bit chaotic (there had been a large wedding to be fair) did not like the sausages!
Conveniently easy to get to from the A1. Lovely surroundings to wander around. Good location in that it is near to Oakham & Stamford. Clean, comfortable, decent sized room.
I felt very exposed as people parking looked right into our room. On the other hand it meant we could keep an eye on our car! Next time I would ask to be on the upper floor as am not particularly keen to put on a floor show for car park. I can understand why we did not get a room with a view for 1 night but net curtains would be useful. There was a blind but it meant we couldn't see out if we used it. Otherwise no complaints.
Nice and clean, comfy beds, good food. Some very helpful staff. Beautiful views over the golf course from the communal rooms.
They had no record of our booking when we got there and had to wait while it was sorted out. Not too bad but no real apology. We were allocated a room as far as it was possible from reception with a view of a grass bank and the carpark. Some rather over zealous plate removal in the restaurant. I hate having plates taken away when some of the group is still eating!
Quiet and peaceful in lovely surroundings.
No negatives apart from the gym is quite small although the equipment is very good. The number of guests using it is closely monitored by reception staff so it is never over crowded.
Pleasant staff, nice big room with a lovely view of the golf club. Drinks and food at sensible prices.
Although there was an excellent choice we would prefer to have it fresh cooked and served. Didn't bring my golf clubs as I did not think I would have time. Wont make that mistake again.
Attractive location, with good views from bar, restaurant and outside seating. Very good, reasonably priced food. Very good breakfast. Helpful friendly staff. It was a Saturday night and a disco was in full swing but we borrowed the electric fan from Reception; this deadened the noise and we slept well. Highly recommend this accommodation and we shall certainly be using it again when in the area.
Could find no fault.
Friendliness Cleanliness Room was very comfortable
Nothing to dislike at all
The rooms have a lovely view of the golf course. There was a wedding on but no noise in the room which I was very pleased with. Room nice and big and breakfast was great, well worth the cost. Lots of lovely villages nearby with great pubs.
Staff in clubhouse during day were inattentive. Room not ready for check in at 2.30pm which was disappointing. The benefits outweighed the negatives thou.
_Very comfortable mattresses _Quiet rooms _Location _Big spacious rooms _Lots of storage
_Some rude staff _Huge spiders in the room that the cleaners had not got rid of _Coffee machine in conference room not working _Poor Internet coverage in our room and very slow Internet everywhere else _Restaurant food: not much choice for non-meat eaters and the dishes we chose for dinner were not very good.
The room was very comfortable. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Our evening meal was very good and quite reasonable.
Our bottle of wine, although very nice, was a little expensive. We went down for breakfast at 9.15 but the food was dried up.
Everything was excellent

inefficient reception and not welcoming, also had us as booking in at 6a,m.! breakfast pretty poor, I suppose o.k.for the golfers but not what we like
