Some staff were helpful, others were almost hostile The kitchen was filthy and very old, it was meant to be b & b but there was food left from previous days every morning I went to have breakfast and the general look of the eating area was really bad so I ate out. The butter was left on the tables for god knows how long, the food dispensers were extremely old plastic and looked very dirty. The internet access never worked and I had used this as a criteria for booking. My room was left wide open by the cleaner and the staff didn't appear to care less. I would never recommend this place to anyone and I would have felt safer in a backpackers. Nearly every time I went to reception there was someone else complaining. Rotten experience.

The only good thing about the hotel was its location (and the sheets were clean). The room was tiny and the "bathroom" even tinier (a glorified shower cubicle). The pillows were extremely uncomfortable. Bedding was adequate but not brilliant. Corridors all very narrow and steep stairs - I didn't have large suitcase, but that would have been very difficult. Breakfast was not good - very basic - cheap tea and coffee, and sliced white bread. Service at breakfast was very poor - staff did not say a word, not even good morning, just dumped toast on table, and the room very small and cramped. Any one of these things on its own might have been just about ok, but taken as a whole, the experience was very poor.

Friendly and efficient. All you expect for a short break in the city. Wi-fi service not effective - I couldn't connect. Really should be available in all rooms these days.

Access to underground not far to walk and nice area to visit Cleaniness was absent in all areas of the room, mattress was stained using blankets from world war 1 no duvets. Cleaning is not on a professional level. I suggest the management team check out Travell Lodge and Premire lodge for cost and cleaniness. When I pointed out to part of the management team the dirt/ wrappers also the tea/coffe baskets with used sachets he just looked indifferent. Dust on the floor and on the window ledge where some one had been sick he did not react at all. Built up dust every where. If your stuck to find anywhere else close to the Area you need to get to then its ok for survival for the night. At least its not on the Street. Its visited by a lot of europeans who properly dont know any better, as the manager put it " Its not a 4* Hotel and I'm not bothered anyway I can fill these rooms.

I liked nothing about it and I am surprised how the hotel has permission to run a dirty and miserable hotel as Grenville. As for breakfast, not only we had to wait our turn to enter the small, dining room, which was also dirty, but were served only 2 slices of toast as soon as we sat down, which got cold by the time we had our cereal. My room was never cleaned, only the bed was made with no care. As for the floor, it must have been without hoovering for months. What I should do is report the unsuitability of your hotel to the relevant authorities. The nearby well established big hotels were cheaper, with a luxury entrance and many facilities, rich breakfast, beautiful, clean rooms, etc. I liked nothing about it and I am sorry I didn;t book at the well established nearby hotels which were descent places to stay. The single room I was given had hardly space for me to move and I had to ask for a double bedroom and pay extra.

The location is very good. It's within 20 min walking distance from the main squares of the city (Leicester, Picadilly Circus). The shower has good water pressure. The rooms are extremely small. Also, one person can barely fit in the shower/toilet room. The canteen is also very small, so the breakfast can be very crowded.

Hello. Thank you very much for giving this opportuinity in order to express my feeling about Grenville House Hotel. The Grenville is the worst House Hotel I have ever seen. Rubbish breakfast in the morning. While doing your breakfast the cleaner cleans the place where you are doing breakfast, it was horrible. Room was horrible. No soap in the bathroom. I paid 148 pound for 2 nights. A lot of dirty duvet and other bed room stuff in the corridor. As if they are doing good cleaning. In the second day I did not stay there. I went to 4 stars hotel, which is Grange Blooms Hotel - Russell Square, and I stayed there. I paid 65 pound for this Hotel which was amazing, clean, high service and etc. I will never recommend this hotel to anyone else

Just the location, was fine It was not clean, the wall of the room was letting in water. A portable heater in the room wa stacked on a phonebook wrapped in plastic turned on full when I came in (fire hazzard). The door didn't lock from the inside so I had to put the only chair in front of it in order to feel safe at night.

None of the above words describe this hotel. I was very disappointed to say the least. I was travelling with a group of learning disabled adults and from the pictures and description on your website the hotel looked to be basic but clean. It was anything but clean the blankets on the beds were dirty and badly stained. There were cobwebs on the walls downstairs and flies in the basement room. The basement room was really cold and the attic room was too hot and difficult to access. There were no facilities in the rooms that we could actually use, the cups were unclean and there was no coffee. The shower was extremely small and inadequate and there were no public areas that we could comfortably use to prepare for our meeting. There was nothing about this hotel that we liked.

The hotel receptionist kindly carried our cases up to our room at the top and carried them down again at the end of our stay. Couldn't adjust the radiator in our room.

Very accommodating and friendly staff. Accessible area. Within walking distance. There was an effort to make the room clean. Although we booked for Grenville House Hotel, we were housed at the Guildford Hotel, so I am treating these two entities as one. What I experienced at Guildford Hotel may not be the same as in Grenville. Very narrow hallway and stairs making it hard for large luggage to mobilize but staff are there to help apparently. I think the place has not been upgraded for years now because the window of the room we stayed was broken, it was hard to close (pull down). The stairs can be fixed to cater to the safety of patrons, one can easily fall because the planks are beat up in the middle part. Other that that, generally the place was ok.

A sad run down place that clearly has no money spent on it for years. At that price I would have expected much better. I cringe at the impression places like this have on visitors to our great city.

Do not stay at this hotel at any cost. Pay the few pound more and get somewhere half decent. Nothing good to say about it This is not a hotel its a b&b and one I would never stay in again. Staff were rude the place smelled rotten there was loose wires and electric sockets hanging off walls. The place is a death trap. How they can advertise on this site is a joke. Do not stay at this hotel it is a disgrace.

Location was really good: about 5mins away from Russell Square tube station. There were 13 of us staying in the hotel ( double rooms, family room, triple room, twin room) and none of us had any problems. After reading all the negative comments, I had my doubts but we all were pleasantly surprised. I have stayed in worse places and this hotel gives to what you pay for. No one should expect much from any hotel in London if you pay this little. Our rooms were clean, no mold or anything in bathrooms. There were some occasions that some of the rooms had no hot water.
