Nothing, sorry ! It was one of the worst experiences I have ever had. ..The only worse thing could be sleeping on the streets for the night. The room was tiny, poorly equipped. The wash-basin light only just flickered. Not even a glass (for water) was provided in the room. The tv was an old dead box . The toilets were messy, flush worked only occasionally. No hot water supply to shower. On requesting an iron from the staff, they went into a state as if I had demanded their lives ! Of course it had 'gone missing' and they never had heard of an 'ironing board'. Please avoid !!

Hello, We stayed for one night (Sat 30th Apr) in the Gresham Hotel Bloomsbury. I would like to express how disgusted I am with the hotel. Upon arrival the lady on the desk was very rude to us and made us pay upon arrival. (I do not have a problem with this but you usually pay when you check out). She originally tried to put us into Standard Rooms which only had a shared bathroom (this is the reason for us booking a Family Room). Once she had agreed to give us the family room we had booked we were thrown a key and pointed to a doorway to our room. Upon entering the room I could not believe my eyes - the filth and state of the room was nothing like what had been shown on the website. The room was dirty & dusty, there were stains and marks everywhere, and the bathroom was mouldy and just very unclean. We had little time after we checked in and agreed to simply get changed and head straight back out again as we did not have time to call you etc to change the hotel. We then decided to stay out of the hotel as long as possible as it just felt as though we were residing in a flea pit. We would not even use the Toilet or Bathroom in our room as it was that filthy. My friend was actually sick when she opened the bathroom door. We also had to leave the one and only room key with Reception when we were out and about, meaning that all of our posessions could be accessed whilst we were out - the receptionist also changed shifts so our belonging were very insecure. I understand that £90 for a family room in London could be classed as a reasonable price, but I did not sign up to something that resembled a squat when I made my reservation. Even for basic accomodation you at least expect basic levels of cleanliness and for the rooms to be maintained to a basic standard. Could you please come back to me with some kind of resoloution as I am not satisfied that I had to pay £90 to stay in a room that quite frankly I would not expect my worst enemy to stay in.

Excellent location, central London close to travel options The photos on Booking.com are outrageously misleading. The hotel was understaffed and underloved. The room and toilet facilities were bare, tiny, shabby, dirty and one wouldn't want to spend a moment in the room longer than was absolutely necessary. It was just simply a cold and uncomfortable bed for a night, marginally better than sleeping on someone's floor. The previous night for the same money I had stayed out at Stansted in a very large and comfortable room with full facilities. But, of course, this was central London and I was close to everything the moment I stepped outside of the hotel.

I chose this hotel because it was only twenty minutes away from my job interview, it had a 24 hour reception and so I could still check-in late at night when my flight had been delayed and the price was also okay for London without having to go for a noisy hostel. The room was functional for what I wanted - a bed and a lockable door. There was a wardrobe for me to hang up my suit and a wash basin. There was also a bedside table. The traffic outside was quite noisy and there was only one pain of glass, but I was so tired that I slept well anyway! I asked for extra blankets as I get very cold, but I was given a thin bed cover. I wasn't majorly cold though.

The location. This hotel is pitiful. It seems that some UK office should have shut it down for violations, both safety and standards. The room was tragically small and dirty, nothing worked, staff was absurdly unprofessional. Next time, Id rather pay more and get much more, i would not wish this hotel on you.

The location was perfect - nothing we wanted to see was more than a mile away and we walked most of the time. Staff were friendly and made us feel welcome. The lady seemed to be there at all times of the day and night but was consistently pleasant and smiled at us on each occasion we met her. There were clean sheets and the beds were made daily which was refreshing. The room was fairly basic which was ok and whereas it had been surface cleaned, it needed a deep clean - I dropped my soap which went behind the toilet and there was dust and grime which indicated it hadn't been cleaned recently. The room would also benefit from being decorated as the wardrobe and fittings were scratched and jaded and there were water marks on the ceiling. Someone was smoking in the next room to ours which made the stay extremely unpleasant as the smoke could be experienced in our room and the corridor stunk of it. As we were two asthmatics and a 10 year old I don't appreciate our being exposed to this in this day and age. The no smoking signs were blatnntly ignored and although we reported this I'm not convinced any action was taken. When we got there the room was extremely hot as the radiators were on and we couldn't turn them off which made sleeping difficult. We left the windows open but then the noise from the traffic was unbearable and I got numerous bites from something either in the room or which flew in the window, as I slept closest to it.

Absolutely everything. The room was filthy, it had beer wrappers stuck to the walls, inches of dust everywhere, stains and filth all over the windowsill, the carpet was all chewed off, I sat on the bed and went straight through it. The sink in the room was all cracked and filthy, the wall was dirty, it smells really bad of damp, there was creepy crawlies all over our bed sheets, plug sockets were open, dirty cables, dirty old curtains were hanging off and hinges of doors were all broken off and filthy. It is absolutely disgusting, we got a new room at 1am which wasn't even nice either, even that was filthy. Do not go here, seriously, pay the extra it is absolutely disgusting!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The reception area (first impression) was untidy, tasteless and useless. In general the building maintenance was miserable. We didn't feel welcome at all. There was only hand towels in the room and we repeatedly had to ask for shower towels. It would be more appropriate to call it a hostel, it not a hotel!

I booked 2 nights in the hotel for my weekend visit. Only after boking have I read the reviews about the place - all pretty much negative. I started to panic in a way as this was my first trip to London and I didn't want a crippy hotel to spoil the single day I was going to spend in the city. It turned out that the hotel is clean, water is always hot and running, it is very central and equally cheap. You just wouldn't choose it for a fancy holiday. The staircases are very narrow.

Leaving Our room was filthy. There was no toilet roll, shower gels, shampoo supplied. There was no kettle in the room, which i think is a very basic requirement, asked at reception for a kettle and it was supplied but with no cups, tried on many occasions to get a mug or coffee cup but to no avail. keys were left behind the reception desk unattended, did not feel safe in this "hotel" at all.

“The hotel as a cosy feel to it. The staff were very polite and accomodating. Although the rooms are small they served their purpose very well. Our room was clean and nicely decorated with a nice en suite bathroom. The hotel was warm and quiet. For a busy central London area this was an excellent choice. We were 2 minutes walk from the Dominion Theatre for our show and 5 minutes walk from the British Museum and Oxford St was just round the corner. Great value for money considering the location. Would definitely stay there again.” Lorraine, Norwich |
