Nothing, sorry ! It was one of the worst experiences I have ever had. ..The only worse thing could be sleeping on the streets for the night. The room was tiny, poorly equipped. The wash-basin light only just flickered. Not even a glass (for water) was provided in the room. The tv was an old dead box . The toilets were messy, flush worked only occasionally. No hot water supply to shower. On requesting an iron from the staff, they went into a state as if I had demanded their lives ! Of course it had 'gone missing' and they never had heard of an 'ironing board'. Please avoid !!

This was the single worst hotel I have ever been to. So bad in fact that I checked out at 12.30am without staying a single night. Having turned up to check in, dumped my bags and then gone out, upon my return I was refused entry into the annexe building until I paid the full amount for my stay there. Then had to walk up the six flights of stairs to my room. The smell from the room can only be described as raw sewage and when I got to using the bathroom in my room it was completely bare and didn't even have toilet roll. The walls were paper thin and the door didn't even go to the floor. The icing on top of the cake was when I looked down at my belongings on one of the rooms in the bed and saw brown life crawling over them. I was then refused a refund when I went to check out as frankly, I refused to stay in facilities like that. It felt unsafe and the staff were entirely unfriendly and in fact quite hostile, especially when you ask about their apparently non-existent refunds policy. Do not stay here.

One thing: location. 5 min to Oxford street / British museum. Everything but location. Horrible bed, shower, toilets, people at reception desk did not speak English. The only reason this hotel does not go bankrupt is its location. The beds are all full of bugs so you better be careful. Or simply pay a little more and stay somewhere else for god sake.

Hi All, the location was very good lots of activities around the area. The staff were friendly and very accommodating. The linen was changed every day and we got fresh towels. Hi All, the Hotel itself was very disappointing no lifts were available and we stayed on the top floor. Very basis accommodation with no breakfast but the staff were very friendly.

Location. I did read all of the bad reviews before I went to the hotel so I cant really say too much bad stuff thats already been said. Also, as i had read these reviews, I was mentally prepared...! Saying that though, like the reviews say, the hotel is in a bad way, the staff dont talk to you, the ground floor smells like a sewer, the shared toilets and showers are very basic, and the rooms are also very basic, and ours had many holes in the walls and my bed sheet also had a quite noticable blood stain on it. However, despite all of this (very) bad points... if you are going in a young group (like we did) wanting to see what london as to offer over a short period of time (like a weekend) then it isnt all bad. The location is great (a two min walk from Shaftesbury Theatre), and in these cases, you dont spend much time at the hotel anyway, so it isnt the end of the world. The one thing that did annoy me is that although it is meant to be a bed and breakfast, when I asked, they said they dont do breakfast, and there are no coffee/tea making facilities in the room or a toaster or anything... In conclusion, young, low maintainence groups after a cheap weekend away, go for it. Anyone else, it may be worth putting the trip off until you can afford somewhere much nicer.

Hello, We stayed for one night (Sat 30th Apr) in the Gresham Hotel Bloomsbury. I would like to express how disgusted I am with the hotel. Upon arrival the lady on the desk was very rude to us and made us pay upon arrival. (I do not have a problem with this but you usually pay when you check out). She originally tried to put us into Standard Rooms which only had a shared bathroom (this is the reason for us booking a Family Room). Once she had agreed to give us the family room we had booked we were thrown a key and pointed to a doorway to our room. Upon entering the room I could not believe my eyes - the filth and state of the room was nothing like what had been shown on the website. The room was dirty & dusty, there were stains and marks everywhere, and the bathroom was mouldy and just very unclean. We had little time after we checked in and agreed to simply get changed and head straight back out again as we did not have time to call you etc to change the hotel. We then decided to stay out of the hotel as long as possible as it just felt as though we were residing in a flea pit. We would not even use the Toilet or Bathroom in our room as it was that filthy. My friend was actually sick when she opened the bathroom door. We also had to leave the one and only room key with Reception when we were out and about, meaning that all of our posessions could be accessed whilst we were out - the receptionist also changed shifts so our belonging were very insecure. I understand that £90 for a family room in London could be classed as a reasonable price, but I did not sign up to something that resembled a squat when I made my reservation. Even for basic accomodation you at least expect basic levels of cleanliness and for the rooms to be maintained to a basic standard. Could you please come back to me with some kind of resoloution as I am not satisfied that I had to pay £90 to stay in a room that quite frankly I would not expect my worst enemy to stay in.

The linen was clean. The cleanliness of the bathroom facilities was poor. It was in a poor state of repair in that the tv didn't work, the clothes rail was falling to bits. The peg in the shower room had fallen to the floor and was just left there. There was rubbish on the stairs for the duration of our stay which was not moved.

I liked the location - very convenient. The room was warm. I didnt like the mould on the ceiling. Also the sheets were too short for the bed. The blanket and carpet were stained. The TV reception received only 2 channels.

Cheaper than most London hotels, good if only staying for one night. Also very close to most of the city's attractions. Very bad security, locks on doors are quite flimsy, and the front entrance is never locked. Also after going out, you hand in your room key to reception, when returning to the hotel and asking for your key back no identification or proof of staying in the hotel was asked for, meaning anyone could walk in through the unlocked front entrance, take your key and waltz into your room. En suite was very small, i'm an average sized person, but could not shut the door when using the facility, as I was too big, it was not worth the extra money, would have been better off using the shared bathroom.

The most important thing about the hotel is that its position is very central, just one minute walk to the British Museum; afterwards even the relation between price and quality is not bad at all if you want to slay in the heart of Bloomsbury. As usual, having a shared bathroom always represents a distasteful limit for those travellers used to the European standards in terms of cleanliness/hygene and room comfort, but after all in England this appears to be the most common way to offer accomodation.

That it was close to where I stayed and even though I turned up an hour early for check in the staff went out of their way to ready my room so I didn't have to wait too long - thank you. The heat in the tiny room - I had to open the window at 5am and then the traffic was pretty loud.

Convenient, cheap, clean, friendly. This hotel is on an incredible location backing onto the British Museum and within walking distance of Oxford Street, Soho, Bloomsbury, Trafalgar Square and Coventry Garden. I always stay in one of the back rooms and there you can also say it's very quiet too. The staff are friendly and helpful and the place is quite private too. If you're looking for any kind of luxury then don't go to the Gresham, but it's clean and functional. The room has only a small TV, with just the 5 basic channels. Wi-fi would be a great addition, but having said that I would not want to pay a higher rate for those luxuries, a budget hotel is a budget hotel and that's what I want.

Staff excellent and VERY helpful.Bus stop outside door to central London so very easy to access British Museum,National Gallery,Trafalgar Square and Charing Cross Station. No food facilities on site but lots within walking distance and would recommend the Museum pub just around the corner.Wonderful atmosphere, a really traditional London pub and good food. Thanks to the Gresham for a good night Slept very well..

The hotel was in a fantastic location and was reasonably priced for this. The receptionist gave us an upgrade to private bathroom which was kind of her. I would say that the rooms could definitely do with a lick of paint and a good clean. Bed linen was ripped, bathroom light did not have a cover, shower door was broken, very little room to move in the bathroom and no pillow cases for any of the spare pillows.

Hi, Do not understand where all the hate comes from in other reviews, this is the second time I have stayed there and it's a perfectly fine budget hotel. Room was fine and clean for the money, as were the other facilities (although my room was missing a glass or cup) Staff in particular were helpful and friendly Perhaps a kettle in the room. It at least needed a glass or cup so I could have a glass of tap water

The staff were lovely & gave us a choice of room on arrival. It was also only a few minutes walk from the theatre we were going to which made it nice & easy to get back. We expected it to be a budget room due to the price but the bed was very uncomfortable and the bed spread stained. There was a sink in the room but the hot water was only a trickle and the wall lights didnt work. The thing we were most disappointed in was that there was no kettle in the room to make a hot drink & no facilities in the hotel to get one from.

The location is excellent, the rooms very basic but clean (including clean linnen and towels every day). Value for money if you are not concerned with luxurious accommodation. We had a shared bathroom but plenty of hot water. The staff was not over enthusiastic yet they provided all necessary service and information. The toilets could have been cleaner - and the room provided with more than one set of sheets (However, the staff provided us with an additional one).

“The hotel as a cosy feel to it. The staff were very polite and accomodating. Although the rooms are small they served their purpose very well. Our room was clean and nicely decorated with a nice en suite bathroom. The hotel was warm and quiet. For a busy central London area this was an excellent choice. We were 2 minutes walk from the Dominion Theatre for our show and 5 minutes walk from the British Museum and Oxford St was just round the corner. Great value for money considering the location. Would definitely stay there again.” Lorraine, Norwich |
