Dating back to 1438, the historic Cathedral Gate is in the heart of Canterbury.
Score from 617 reviews Very good
Within Canterbury’s historic city walls, Abode Canterbury is just 300 metres from Canterbury Cathedral.
Score from 660 reviews Very good
Just metres from Canterbury’s medieval West Gate, this charming building dates back to 1403. A former coaching inn, it offers free Wi-Fi and free parking, 2 minutes’ walk from the city centre.
Score from 971 reviews Very good
A delightful old pub close to the city centre and its many tourist attractions. The ruins of the ancient water mill (hence Miller's Arms) on the River Stour remain alongside the pub.
Score from 288 reviews Fabulous
The location is fantastic. Staff were excellent. Good breakfast. Bed was comfortable. Would stay again.
Shower a bit small. Decoration generally a bit tired.
The staff went out of their way to make us feel welcomed. Laundry service was amazing and breakfast was exceptional. Great comfy place.
Very friendly staff! Hotel in short walking distance from sites of interest, shops and restaurants. Greyfriar hotel and gardens are really worth a visit!
All staff was welcoming and friendly, made my stay feel like home, definately stay again, thank you
the location was excellent. The bed was comfortable. Breakfast was good. The staff was very friendly and very helpful.
Parking was a bit far away, but that is to be expected with the location of the inn.
Location, location, location. Staff were always extremely helpful and go above and beyond to ensure you have a wonderful stay. Lovely continental breakfast set you off to a good day.
Hotel is situated in the Old Town zone, close to all possible tourist attractions and shopping facilities.
the clients of the local pubs can be too noisy
Very central location. Pleasant room. The girl who was on duty was extremely helpful, including giving us directions street by street on the mobile when we couldn't find the place. The DIY breakfast had lots of choice including fresh fruit, yoghurt, danish pastries etc.
Difficult to find, especially after dark, in a narrow dead-end street. Parking was a 5-minute walk away (but we were provided with a parking permit by the hotel).
The staff were friendly and helpful. The location great location.
Noisy room. The water pressure was very slow, and no shower only a bath. The water was either extremely hot or freezing. The bed had that plastic underneath the sheets so not comfortable. The hotel is situated across from a pub/ bar and it was very noisy.
Staff was friendly and helpful. Room was adequately clean. Breakfast was fine.
Room was poorly organized for 2, e.g. only one chair, and no space for baggage etc.. Several faults that should have been repaired were not, e.g. shelve in bath room at an angle, latch on door broken, etc. Also, local bar noise prevented sleep till 1am
Excellent location. Very comfortable beds. It's not a fancy hotel but it is great value for clean comfortable and friendly accommodation in a central location with a continental breakfast and wi fi included.
Being in the centre it can be noisy. This didn't worry us as we are not light sleepers and would expect noise as a result of its location.
Being allowed to walk in the "Secret" Monastery garden. The nearness to the High Street and general friendliness of the staff. Thank you Kathy
Absolutely nothing to dislike.
Noisy due to fresher week and foreign students
The room and bathroom were clean and very nice. Also, the breakfast was great!
The hotel is located opposite a club, our room was situated at the front of the hotel. The music from the club was audible in our room until two in the morning. This, and the people leaving the club, make it difficult to get some sleep.
The location was close to all the tourist sites. The breakfast was advertised as continental and was actually ok - it would have been nice if there had been some fresh fruit salad.
The property is very tired and dated - they should not use the fact that it is a listed building. There looks as though there has been no money invested in this place for years. None of the furniture matches - the bathroom and shower was awful - water was either cold or scalding hot.
location. the garden nearby.
Only one key for three of us (in a triple room). No real space anywhere, ex., the "reception" was in the breakfast room, no person "on duty" strictly to help guests. Only way to find a staff person was to ring the outside bell. It just doesn't have a welcoming, l pleasant feeling.
Good location in the centre of Canterbury. Very clean and friendly.
I had a small, very noisy room but I had been told that it was the last one available. The sink in the bathroom was more of a toilet hand sink, far too small if you did not want to shower. I would have preferred a cooked breakfast (and been prepared to pay a little extra for it)
The welcome by the staff
a. Only continental breakfast offered. This should be advertised - not "breakfast included" b. Ground floor room on the road almost opposite a pub - noise woke me up c. Very dated rooms. The external photograph looks better than the decor inside d. Very small chairs at the breakfast table
The very friendly staff. The homely athmosphere. The breakfast. The quiet area behind the hotel. In the middle of the city.
The steep stairs to 2nd floor. But I couldn´t expect anything else.
Excellent accomodation, Friendly and efficient staff,
It was so convenient to everything we wanted to see.
The room was rather gloomy.
The position close to the town is great and very freindly stall
Ideally located, staff super
cramped room, very noisy although I did request a quiet room.
Average accommodation at a fair price. Good location but noisy
Limited choice for breakfast.
