The room was large, comfortable, clean, quiet and decorated in the very best of taste. Indeed, the decor throughout showed admirable attention to detail and elegance. The breakfast was excellent, and the proprietor friendly.

The owner and his wife, Peter and Simone, were most pleasnt and welcoming, and struck me as being very hard working and eager to please. Parking is available in front of the house. I had a single room which was on the third floor . The room was nicely decoratedand had en-suite facilities, a multi-channel tv and a comfortanle bed with a duvet, although I myself prefer sheets and blankets. Greystones is a Guest House and evening meals are not available. However, pub style meals may be obtained at the nearby pub, or at restaurants in Yeovil town centre, about 8 to 10 minutes walk or so I was told. The house is near the top of a long hill, which for me, having a poor heart, would have been an imposibility to climb. For the same reason, I found it somewhat difficult to climb the 40 or so stairs to my third-floor room. On reflectoin, a ground floor room would have suited mr better, but then this was a last-minute booking.

We had a good welcome from the manager on arrival. The room was large and the bed the best I have ever slept in (room 7) Nice room. The bed and breakfast house was more than adequate for a one night stay. Excellent breakfast. Would recommend this b & B. Nothing everything was fine

The stairs are quite difficult to negotiate. Our stay was extended due to personal circumstances and the proprietor moved us to the ground floor. The rest of our family are much fitter than my wife and myself and we coped much better.

Breakfast was very good and I was catered for as I did not want a full breakfast. Of note lots of good coffee available, plenty of cereals and some fruit. In the bedroom along with the tea, coffee and drinking chocolate there was a piece of shortbread which was very nice! I had a single room which was adequate but it felt a little "tired". Some wallpaper was coming away from the wall and the paint was badly scratched in places. Just in need of a renovation.

The location is very convenient for exploring Somerset. We were attending family events in Somerset and Dorset - very convenient. It was comfortable and clean and had a homely feel. The breakfast was good and the service just right. The car parking is a tight but manageable. The road outside is busy so care is needed with children and animals. It was clear that visiting families were enjoying their visit and the staff catered well for them. The price was preferable to other local establishments that we have used before which have become too pricey.

Friendly staff, Good full English breakfast breakfast. Mattresses were not as comfortable as we'd hoped. Toilet had not been cleaned properly but this was quickly rectified when we pointed it out. Walls quite thin so we were woken up earlier than we'd prefer by other guests.

Location was good for my purpose. Nice aspect from outside. I was not greeted in a very welcoming way. My room smelt very musty and damp - not alleviated by opening window. Facilities fairly basic E.g shower cubicle quite small. Although travelling alone I was surprised to be given a small single bed - there would have been room for something a little larger and more inviting. Tv didn't work properly. Wrong tea brought at breakfast.

“This was the second time that we have stayed at the Halfway House, the first time was in the hotel and the room was clean and comfortable. This time we stayed in one of the chalets, what a surprise. It was great. I would recommend this hotel to anyone. The hotel staff are friendly, the rooms are clean and comfortable and the breakfast is great.” Sian, Pontypridd |

Very good, 8.4

“The setting in charming Montacute was exactly what we were looking for. The inn has a sense of history and at the same time concern for contemporary traveler's needs. Our dinner was excellent and the traditional English Breakfast was updated just enough. I also enjoyed exploring the churchyard next door and hiking St Michael's Hill.” Nancy, Freeland |
