Staff very friendly. Rooms comfortable and spacious. Great location for going out at night and shopping , sightseeing through the day. Good price for central Newcastle. Air conditioning broken and couldn't get window open as sash window behind a safety window, so room very, very hot and stuffy. Our tea/coffee tray was very dusty and sticky although the general cleanliness was good.

Nice friendly helpful staff...full marks. Location, reasonable price. Booked twin wheelchair accessible room and was given two rooms with connecting door, excellent! I am a full time wheelchair user. The lobby lift didn't work properly, the lighting controls were a bit of a mystery and the bath was very difficult to access as it was behind the toilet and wash hand basin.

Nice decor and excellent location The aircon was broken has been for 2 weeks. We weren't told on check in and when we phone down to ask how to work it as the room was very hot the porter acted like it had just broken and gave us a fan ! The next morning reception informed me it had been broken a while and he should have told me. Tv remote was broken and it was stuck on a very loud volume. King size bed in a deluxe room was actually 2 singles pushed together ! Bedside lamp broken and when I took plug out the wall it fell apart in my hand which was quite dangerous as electrics were exposed. Deluxe room was very small.

Location, right in the centre of Newcastle too many things to say! This is NOT a 4* hotel. The heating/air con was broken and apparently has been for a while, totally unacceptable. The staff are disinterested. The whole place is shabby and in need of refurbishment. Parking is a joke, having to hope you can find a space in the local pay and display. The lack of WiFi and having to pay for internet access is not what you expect in a 4* hotel. The TV in the room was barely functional. I would advise anyone looking at this hotel to look elsewhere.

Nice, friendly staff, keen to please and address any issues without fuss. Great location, nice room. Air con broken and windows only able to be opened a crack so not very comfortable in otherwise nice room. Never any staff in the cellar bar so had to keep coming back up to ask reception to send someone down ! Maybe need a bell ! Served bottles of expired coke but staff quick to replace and strike from bill.

The table d'hôte breakfast was fantastic and at a tenner, good value for money. The waitress was brilliant. I don't know why other reviewers complained. The hotel manager did everything he could to help with noise and heat, offered a different room and gave us a discount so we left happy. The best thing about this hotel is its staff, they really look after their guests. This is not a four star hotel, their claim is without foundation. Hot room, the air conditioning was broken. Loud street noise until 3am, could not sleep. Hotel is surrounded by nightclubs (hence the noise) and would be absolutely perfect for partying people.

Great location. Comfortable. Staff helpful. Good value for central location. A little run-down and shabby. Air conditioning still broken a week after I first stayed here. Small tv with only a few channels. Internet very expensive at £8 per night

Bathroom didn't look like it had been cleaned of a long while. The room was extremely dusty. Staff only apologised. Items they had advertised to buy eg hairspray, toothpaste etc, were 'out of stock'. Corridor walls dirty. I'm really not the complaining type of person but I was disappointed in this hotel.

Great location and fairly well insulated from traffic and revellers outside. Comfortable bed. Room well equipped with real coffee, nice toiletries, iron and board. Staff very helpful and friendly, although this is a general characteristic of Newcastle where most people are helpful and friendly. Heating / airconditioning broken so room had to be heated by fan heater. Internet access expensive at £7.99 per 24 hours, and by cable (my grandad would remember this!). Room somehow not very welcoming, layout messy. The whole hotel needs a little tlc. A notice in reception advises that it is in Administration, so hopefully the new owners if they materialise will give it a tidy up and fix the heating system

Good looking rooms with smart decor. Great coffee tray. Comfortable bed. I would stay again but would be a bit more vocal about the things I wasn't so happy with. Everything needed a proper clean - there was dust, markings on the painted walls, and grot on the tiles in bathroom. Also no biscuits on coffee tray!! A beautiful hotel that needs someone to raise the standards.
