It is a good location for me to get to work with clients in Wembley and Harrow. I liked being in a semi-countryside location and so close to London.

Great location, still close to London Town but nicely secluded on beautiful property. Restaurant food was quite good and wait staff were lovely, but quite expensive. The room was average at best. Definately not a 4 star, I'd say 2 to 3 at best. Very dated bathroom with bath tub and over hanging shower with a curtain that leaked everywhere, not to mention it was very small. The room in the lodge was also small and disappointing. Hotel reception was very abrupt and quite rude. I think you could defiantly find a better b&b somewhere close by with a lot more comfort and homely feel.

I am a G&S enthusiast, and had longed to walk on "sacred ground" at WSG's home. The setting was lovely, the building memorable. Staff were friendly and helpful. Arriving was not as difficult as I feared (metro from Paddington, taxi). Meals were excellent. Blackbirds seemed to sing from every tree, but never came out to be viewed. I had hoped more birds would visit the grounds. Perhaps a feeding station could be installed.

Being deeply involved with the g & s operas, Grims Dyke offered me a unique opportunity to experience and witness the home and locale of the great W.S. Gilbert. The house, especially, and the various ways in which the traditions of the times are kept alive, evoked a fairy tale atmosphere. Balancing preservation of things past with modern needs (such as internet and up to date plumbing) is thoughtfully done. The staff were sensitive to the special quality of this house and style and brought an air of quiet professional dignity to this hotel. Food delicious. Though picturesque and attractive, the rooms seemed a little cluttered. Perhaps the red pillows are excessive. The lighting is mostly evocative, but in the main house where I stayed my second night, was sometimes confusing. I would appreciate even more awareness of the g & s operas and historical significance of the place.

Nice location, mostly attentive staff, clean room. Porter very helpful and did his job well. Thin walls. I could hear at 3.45 am every word the amorous couple next door were saying, to the point I could tell they were East European. The waitress insisting that the red barbeque sauce she was giving me was actually brown sauce, which didn't help my opinion of the over priced "full" English breakfast. I was given a twin room where both mattresses were gone, sagged in the middle and made a racket every time I moved.

The main hotel building is great, with ancient beams and a lot of character. The annexe is more like a holiday inn express, but not so well built. You can hear people in the next room farting...

Nice location. Quiet and secluded. Rooms were clean and well kept. Restaurant staff friendly, food good with reasonable selection of wines. Reception staff not very welcoming, made one feel a little uncomfortable on both checking in and out. Getting to restaurant from lodge rooms on a cold wet night could be offputting as little in the way of lighting.

I was attending a family celebration at this hotel. We arrived the day before and enjoyed good food both at dinner and at breakfast. The staff were attentive and friendly. We enjoyed the ambience of the hotel and particularly the gardens in the autumn sunshine. The wedding reception was perfect and the attention to detail in preparing for this was impressive. I particularly liked the duty manager checking out before and after that everything was to our liking. My group also enjoyed proper martinis prepared by a very charming young man! Not really a complaint but when I checked in it coincided with a visit from the local fire service. One receptionist was left to deal with me, plus numerous phone calls and requests from other guests resulting in some delay in getting keys.

The country club ambience was pleasant, and the history re the gardens and the Gilbert connections were interesting. I only ate breakfast there, but it was good. Staff were pleasant and helpful, and ease of free wifi use was good. Available tv was a bit limited, but as I spent most of my days visiting a friend in hospital this did not matter too much.

Fantastic hotel, set in its own grounds. Great staff, very helpful, the hotel is well run and is an English 4 star, which is slightly different from an American or Irish 4 star. We had a nice stay, but for a four star they need to pay a little more attention to detail. Havin said that we would have no hesitation in going back. A few very small details need to be addressed in the Grim's Dyke, it is a little further from central London than it says on the website. A courtesy car to and from the nearest tube station (Stanmore) would have been welcome. It is after all, billed as 4 star.

Very helpful staff. Spectacular Norman Shaw house in superb location. Unlike most hotel bars, this one actually sells Real Ale - a very pleasant surprise. Unfortunately, I had to leave by 07.45 and couldn't get breakfast as it did not commence until 08.00 on Saturdays, which was a minor let down.

We were there for a funeral, and the manager and barstaff were most accommodating to us. The location is very charming. The reception staff were not at all friendly, and although the porter and bar staff were very helpful, the initial impression was not as good as it could be.

The traditional style of the hotel, gardens and the location. The rooms in the annex are very large and well appointed. The beds were uncomfortable and creaked every time you moved. The staff were unfriendly and gave priority to answering the phone rather than attending to waiting customers.
