The main hotel building is great, with ancient beams and a lot of character. The annexe is more like a holiday inn express, but not so well built. You can hear people in the next room farting...

Nice hotel set in very nice grounds. My wife was attending an event at Wembley Arena and this was a pleasant, comfortable place to stay. Pity it was so wet as I didn't get a chance to explore the lovely grounds.

I liked the location: within sight of the smoke but not too close. Good connections with the motorway and local amenities such as the golf course. My son and I enjoyed walking around the grounds and our breakfast the following morning. The staff were welcoming and efficient and the room well appointed. Best of all was the hotel building itself and the elegant grounds adjoining. Will recommend to friends without reservation. Thank you.

It was friendly, welcoming and clean. I would love to have had the opportunity to walk the grounds and area. It is an attractive historic building. The restaurant was excellent, the food delicious and the staff friendly and professional. Car parking easy and plentiful. I enjoyed my stay and would love to return. Good value for money. I specifically requested twin beds but as usual with any hotel booking, I got a double bed. Due to a recent operation, I was nervous of injury. I didn't bother to push my request. The sink in the bathroom had a bad crack and the plug was unuseable. There was no lever or chain to pull it up or down. The receptionist made a note of this and apologised admitting the problem had been recently logged and the sink was to be replaced shortly.

I attended a Gaa Concert and dinner which was superb. The hotel went all out to make everyone welcome. The food was excellent and the hotel were generous towards the charity. I had a comfortable bedroom and an excellent breakfast as well.

The location suited as we had family in Harrow. We loved the mature gardens, although it was still early spring and didn't get the full experience of their beauty as it was too early. The lake was beautiful with the swans, and we liked the mix of manicured grounds and wild walkways through the gardens. The stone walls surrounding the gardens were also beautiful and very well maintained. The bedrooms in the main house were lovely and comfortable and warm, as was the bathroom. It was good to have tea making facility. The breakfast was very good and a great choice, and I would recommend the pancakes. The dinner menu was also very good with a big fish choice on the Friday. The architecture of the building was beautiful and the entire place was beautifully decorated in keeping with the building and very clean We found the attitude of the staff on arrival was anything but welcoming. The restaurant was not in the main house and we had to walk outside to get to it. The restaurant lacked some background music and it would be an ideal place to play some Gilbert & Sullivan pieces.

Steeped in History, lots of character. Cleanliness of the rooms, huge double bed, plump squishy pillows, lovely toilet paper (not the thin kind), complimentary toiletries. Beautiful grounds/gardens. Cheerful and helpful staff. My parents used to go to come here a lot, so was only fitting that we had the 'family/friends' get together after my Dad passed away two years ago, and Mum few days ago at the Grims Dyke. We are hoping to stay again ( a longer stay this time) in the summer to take advantage of the Restaurant and gardens. A lovely stay!

Being deeply involved with the g & s operas, Grims Dyke offered me a unique opportunity to experience and witness the home and locale of the great W.S. Gilbert. The house, especially, and the various ways in which the traditions of the times are kept alive, evoked a fairy tale atmosphere. Balancing preservation of things past with modern needs (such as internet and up to date plumbing) is thoughtfully done. The staff were sensitive to the special quality of this house and style and brought an air of quiet professional dignity to this hotel. Food delicious. Though picturesque and attractive, the rooms seemed a little cluttered. Perhaps the red pillows are excessive. The lighting is mostly evocative, but in the main house where I stayed my second night, was sometimes confusing. I would appreciate even more awareness of the g & s operas and historical significance of the place.

Nice location, mostly attentive staff, clean room. Porter very helpful and did his job well. Thin walls. I could hear at 3.45 am every word the amorous couple next door were saying, to the point I could tell they were East European. The waitress insisting that the red barbeque sauce she was giving me was actually brown sauce, which didn't help my opinion of the over priced "full" English breakfast. I was given a twin room where both mattresses were gone, sagged in the middle and made a racket every time I moved.

I was attending a family celebration at this hotel. We arrived the day before and enjoyed good food both at dinner and at breakfast. The staff were attentive and friendly. We enjoyed the ambience of the hotel and particularly the gardens in the autumn sunshine. The wedding reception was perfect and the attention to detail in preparing for this was impressive. I particularly liked the duty manager checking out before and after that everything was to our liking. My group also enjoyed proper martinis prepared by a very charming young man! Not really a complaint but when I checked in it coincided with a visit from the local fire service. One receptionist was left to deal with me, plus numerous phone calls and requests from other guests resulting in some delay in getting keys.

We have stayed there before and enjoyed our stay so we tend to use this hotel as our first choice. This time we upgraded room and were very pleased at the standard. The bed was so roomy and comfy that a good nights rest was had! The grounds of the hotel are beautiful too. We would recommend this hotel every time. No complaints at all

Very helpful staff. Spectacular Norman Shaw house in superb location. Unlike most hotel bars, this one actually sells Real Ale - a very pleasant surprise. Unfortunately, I had to leave by 07.45 and couldn't get breakfast as it did not commence until 08.00 on Saturdays, which was a minor let down.
