Being an old school this hotel took me back to my childhood!! It has a quirky layout but is the more interesting for it. I had the best steak in a long time when I dined in the bar. Perfect hotel for the business traveller

This hotel is a converted school and so was a bit different to the run of the mill layout to most hotels. It is all on ground floor level. It was convenient to where I was doing business but is handy for the Lake District and the West Coast of Cumbria. The Breakfasat was excellent and food was available in the bar at night.

Close proximity to my workplace and good food and service. Friendly staff Poorly maintained, could do with an investment in maintenance and some minor refurbishment works. My electric shower wasn't connected, the water pressure was poor, the bath panel was hanging loose. And the shower screen would not stay closed when using the shower it needed wedging with a bath mat to keep it in place! Not good as the hotel does not charge budget prices!

Food was excellent quality, quantity and value. Rooms are spacious and light Showers are good Staff are freindly and welcoming but happy to leave you in peace if that's what you want. Plenty of parking safe and secure pleasant grounds/surroundings A very small point, but the only thing I can find id that the towells sometimes have too much fabric conditioner

The staff were very helpful and friendly.Value for money when we had lunch one day.We liked the fact that there were bar and restaurant facilities.Good breakfast. As we are non -drivers,we felt that the hotel was a little bit out of the way but this is not a fault of the hotel.

Location. Large rooms. Friendly service. It was very near where I was working. Quiet location. The pub over the road does fantastic food Large rooms but very basic accommodation. Cheap furnishings, the toilet seat fell off and the lino needed replacing in the bathroom as they'd obviously changed the bath at some point and it didn't fit any more. The bar and food was OK, and the service was good, but very 80s style (Pies with puff pastry tops? No thanks) and rather expensive for what you got: £3 for a pint of coke!!!

The staff were most welcoming and were keen to see that you enjoyed your stay. The room was clean and was spacious enough for 2 people(even though I was by myself). I thought it was reasonable value for the money, but was certainly not in the luxury end of the market. If I came back to the Western side of the Lake District, I would certainly consider going back there, especially after hearing the poor service and condition of the Ennerdale from others who were up there for the same purpose. Paying £3 for a pint of Lemonade.

Lovely welcome from Anette, and all the other staff were very pleasant and accomodating. Breakfasts seved both days was fresh and hot except mushrooms that were greasyThe.evening meals in the bar were nice. Our room was very spacious. A nasty "burnt grease" smell when we arrived, the bathroom needed a good deep clean and shaving mirror light was broken. The shaving mirror was on another wall and not over the washbasin, which was difficult to have a wet shave. The bedroom needs a good clean ie light fittings dirty, and cobwebs in corners.Decor needs updating.

A friendly hotel, everything done to make stay as comfortable as possible. Clean and tidy, bedrooms good layout especially for watching television in the evening. The food was very good, nice to get the choice of fish for breakfast, most places just provide the usual egg and bacon. The catering side was well organised if you are local or visiting. Altogether an enjoyable visit and we will be contacting them again when we next visit our relatives in the Lake District.

The staff are excellent just need to take care of cleanliness especially the flies in the lights out side the room, and if something is broke replace it or fit new, not hold it together with cable ties and gaffa tape

The room was incredibly spacious & comfortable There was an ants nest in the bathroom, it was quite a distance to any main areas in the lake district & the breakfast was ridiculously greasy to the point I was mopping grease up with my tissue. Finally the evening meal was severely over priced
