Lismore Guest House, hotel in Whitehaven

Boasting sea views, Lismore Guest House features accommodation with terrace, around 29 km from Wasdale.

In principle everything was above my expectations. Location, friendliness of host and staff, cleanliness etc. There are also many pubs in town and walking the coast path from St Bees to Whitehaven (or the other way round) was really stunning.

The Mansion, hotel in Whitehaven

The Mansion features accommodation in Whitehaven. Among the facilities at this property are a swimming pool, along with free WiFi throughout the property.

Our room was spacious enough for my partner and our dog. It was also nice and clean. Unfortunately we forgot our swimwear so we missed out on using the pool, which looked great. Ian and Nav were very friendly, cooked a lovely breakfast and provided helpful information on places to eat in the evening. It was a good location to visit the quieter side of the lakes, we went to Ennerdale water for the first time, and it had picnic benches and a good stone track along the side of the lake which would be good to walk along in all weathers. We also enjoyed visiting the harbour in Whitehaven and the sandy beach at St. Bees.

The Corner House Bed & Breakfast, hotel in Whitehaven

This charming B&B is set in an 1863 Victorian villa with original features including high ceilings and sash windows. It offers attractive rooms with free Wi-Fi, 5 minutes’ walk from Whitehaven.

The property is a little way out of the main town, less than a 5 minute drive, which was nice as it was very quiet and it had enough parking outside the property to accommodate the guests staying. Very well kept, clean and tidy with modern decor around traditional features. The hosts were very friendly and welcoming, and had offered some recommendations for places to eat in their information book, which we tried and were suitably impressed by. Breakfast was delicious, we had the full English with toast, tea and juice and that set us up for the day. We stayed in large room which was clean and tidy, with plenty of storage space, good facilities including a hair dryer, hot and cold drinks and some biscuits, which were replenished for our second night, and also shampoos, etc in the ensuite bathroom. The beds were really comfy and we both slept very well. We would definitely stay here again if visiting the area and we are very happy to recommend the Corner House to anyone wanting a super place to stay in Whitehaven.

Beautiful harbour. Beacon museum very interesting.

Beautiful harbour. Beacon museum very interesting. Easy access by road to places of interest with fantastic mountain scenery, valleys and lakes.Take a boat trip on Lake Windermere, return journey only £17. Avoid driving up to Surprise View - it's not for the faint hearted or inexperienced driver, especially if you have an approaching vehicle, with inches to pass and a long drop!! Ravenglass 15 gauge steam train ride not worth the money as not much to look at.

Places to eat are plentiful and excellent cooking, the Beacon museum definitely worth a visit. Parking plentiful but some can be expensive. Roads take a bit of getting acquainted with as streets are a bit twisty turny and some are one way so best to drive with care and know where you going, Whitehaven is a lovely town with plenty to do and see with an amazing amount of history. Definitely worth a visit, but our long weekend not long enough

Whitehaven is a lovely Georgian and Victorian coastal town with views across the Solway Firth to Scotland, and across the Irish Sea to the Isle of Man. Although, in common with many provincial towns after Covid, there are quite a lot of empty shops, there are still plenty of nice cafes and coffee bars around the town, and it has two large supermarkets and a leisure centre. The harbour is lovely, and even has its own resident seal right now (June 2023) - Stella. It's easy to get into the heart of the Lake District on the good main roads, so if you fancy a stay in a friendly coastal town away from the main tourist rip-off spots, I'd recommend it. And try the Jefferson's Rum Story on Lowther street, really worth a visit!

    The harbour area is lovely.

The harbour area is lovely. There is a real sense of faded grandeur about Whitehaven: it's easy to imagine what it must have been like in its Georgian heyday. Our first time in the area: if it wasn't so far from home, we'd be back. St James' church is a gem, with lovely people who were welcoming and happy to chat. You need to be mobile and ready to walk up hills in Whitehaven. A nice place in sunny weather.

Whitehaven is a historic town with port.

Whitehaven is a historic town with port. We were wary of potential crime and evidence was around (triple padlocks, grills ,police patrols and many pubs etc but nearly everyone we engaged with were jolly and friendly . The Tivoli is set in the heart of an historic road that has been revamped but getting a bit tatty (as many towns) over time. Really nice heritage , sports and cultural areas and harbour with some good town/coastal walks and sea air. Overall positive vibes from our stay.

Has the standard of a Premier Inn with extra touches like breakfast included, daily room clean, friendly local staff, really well stocked room refreshments. Very good cooked breakfast. Excellent evening meals. I had the roast, so welcome after walking in the mountains nearby. Very pretty, well maintained garden too. Chase Hotel reminds me of a proudly well-run family hotel from years ago combined with all the modern standards we have become accustomed to with good holiday chain brands.

A well appointed B&B , with a lovely welcoming host and her three lovely dogs. We stayed for 2 nights and found Glenfield House to be very comfortable and welcoming . Nothing is too much trouble for the proprietor , Cathy. she made our stay even more special . she took the time to chat to us and could recommend places in the locality to visit . Just out of Whitehaven town centre , which suited us just fine as we didn’t go looking for the nightlife .

The house is so lovely and it is close to town centre. Only 5 minutes to walk and see the lovely panorama. The property does not have a car parking area but you can find car parking areas close to the property using the maps app. We were welcomed by Brian, who is a friendly lad and explains everything so well. This accomodation deserves 5 stars+. You will not regret staying here as you'll enjoy it! 💙 The breakfast it is so delicious😉.

This is an old building and has an authentic feel. The rooms are big and my room had a kitchen, not sure it that is for the disabled rooms. The location of the hotel is good but Whitehaven town centre is what I was hoping for, that said if my wife wasn’t suffering with arthritis we be doing the amazing walks the surround the location. I was also able to charge my car for free, cool
