The morning I was due to travel up to Denbigh I had a phonecall to inform me that there wasnt a room available for me even though I'd booked 10 days earlier. I had to find another hotel en route. However after arriving in Denbigh I saw that the Guildhall had vacancies signs on display and when I enquired I was informed that there were rooms available.

This is located in the centre of Denbigh. It has a wonderful old world feel. The staff were very pleasant and helpful, although they were clearly run off their feet at certain times during the day (it took a while to find anyone in order to check in). The dining rooms were full of character. The beds and bed linen are really fantastic. Parking. We had to get up before 8am to feed the meter. There is parking for only about four cars at this establishment. The bar here is pretty pricey, but again, spotless.

Overnight stay at budget rates made it affordable for the three of us. We all liked the en suite bedrooms we were given despite confusion when we arrived (only one room had been prepared despite an online booking for two doubles) and having them on two floors, but both were clean and very comfortable. Staff were friendly and helpful at all times. Disappointed that the hotel no longer served an evening meal on Sundays despite having asked via email for a table for four. Not told this until we arrived so had to make arrangements to eat out. Helpful staff and a friend with transport made this possible. Surprised when taking bath and tap came off in my hand. Reception staff able to fix it but decided safer to have bath in my daughter's bathroom instead! Breakfast a little disappointing. Poached eggs not really up to standard but the one member of staff on duty was very nice and helpful so did not complain. We enjoyed our stay but were glad not to be paying full price for it.

Location was central and bar/pub good. Staff friendly and helpful Uncomfortable bed, bathroom not very clean. Although cooked breakfast was enormous it was of average quality and Dining room was grubby. Chipped teapot, breakfast bowls had 'dishwasher' problem where food not been washed off properly so feel crusty. Generally not value for money either drop prices but preferably up their game and improve cleanliness and get new mattreses!
