Macdonald Gisborough Hall  

The hotel is very comfortable and welcoming. Decor is excellent. Staff are very friendly and accommodating.

Strength of coffee is rather erratic!

Friendly and helpful staff at reception and bistro areas.

Electronic card readers not working so when I went to room about 300m away with 3 bags then had to return to reception it was very annoying; but staff were helpful.

Room was spavious, big comfy bed, a home from home.

Room temperature too warm over night.

Impressive Hotel with caring and friendly staff. Everything about Gisborough Hall was excellent and I would certainly recommend it to friends and family.

bathroom which had wonderful hot water ,really relaxing The staff could not be faulted, it was lovely to see so many young staff being given the opportunity to experience a first class hotel.

The ambiance and feel of hotel was superb. The food especially the breakfast was the. Best I have ever eaten

Honestly nothing at all, perhaps a few more magazines in lounge area and books about the Area would be informative and helpful

Room was very disappointing, shabby furniture,smelly,a filthy,stained cover on the bed. I asked for twin beds for my daughter and myself and was given a double bed. We were cold at night as the bedding was too light. The bathroom was dirty. We had to wait an hour and a half for a table in the brasserie for dinner which is not very accommodating for a hungry child.

Location was very nice and impressive building. Comfortable, spacious bedroom. Quiet.

Food was average and over-priced. Breakfast service slow. Decor was a bit tired.

Room was spacious and clean for a classic room.

Breakfast was £17.50 each which is very expensive. We were then charged a further £2.50 for smoked salmon which considering the cost of breakfast we felt was a bit greedy. I emailed the hotel 4 days before our arrival to see if it was possible to upgrade our room and I still haven't had a reply.

Yet again a wonderful stay in a great hotle in a superb location.

With access to so much fresh vegatables and choices of game/fish/ meat, the menu is limited and has not changed much since my last visit last year.

Not much to grumble about other than the young children attached to wedding or anniversary stopovers racing unchecked round tables at breakfast.

Personal preference is for a bar area rather than the spacious though comfortable lounge.This lacked atmosphere and it was a bit like having a drink in "Downton Abbey" No swimming pool is a bit of a drawback in this type of hotel.

We have stayed at Gisborough Hall many times and like it very much. We prefer rooms in the Old House, but the new wing is also very nice - it just doesn't have as much character. The meals in the restaurant are second to none.

Location and the rooms - lovely as ever

Nightmare checking in - one lady on reception, very slow. Couldn't find my booking for ages, then said it was because I had booked in my full name rather than just my surname, (Eh??) We had paid £98 up front weeks ago for room only, and on booking in she assured us we could just drop the key cards in reception upon leaving, no need to check out as we hadn't set up to charge to our room etc. Next morning, same lady, in middle of huge argument with a guy who had reams of bills being charged to his room, he was arguing about most of the bill, she refused to accept our cards to enable us to leave (as promised) made us wait 15 mins, whilst pressing her case with the other guest. Why can't hotels do that in private instead of in front of everyone?? Dinner as part of the function we were attending was horrid, roast beef, more like roast (very)old boots. Won't eat here again. But adore the building and the setting/area, just don't eat or plan to get in or out of hotel in a reasonable time!!

Location is great, near to A19 but on the whitby road so very close to moors etc

Slightly slow service at night but worth waiting for.

we visit gisborough hall every year and it was up to its usual high standard . The room and food was excellent ,staff where wonderful and helpful when needed. we will return again for sure.

Lovely room and beautiful gardens to stroll in. Liked the touch of bringing fresh milk to the room for tea etc.

Bacon a bit soggy but the rest of breakfast was very good.

The staff were very attentive food fantastic ! spa massage just divine to top it all off .
