It was very easy to walk around and see the attractions. Staying in front of the minster is a great experience! If your room is at the front, you have a nice view, but there is noise sometimes during the night.... |

location of hotel thought it was overpriced & they did not have a card payment machine which meant paying cash for everything |

The food was lovely and well prepared. The Hotel location could not be any closer to the Minster - waking up to the awe-inspiring view in the glorious sunshine was a welcome treat. No internet connection (states Wi-Fi is available) also means they have no way of you paying by Card. The nearest Cash Machine is a few blocks round, which is very inconvenient. No parking anywhere near, and their 'secure parking' is just a local pay and display lot. Noisy downstairs in the morning. |

Location and old world charm, staff was great. Just the fact, after stating you did accept credit cards and to be told no upon ck out was very embarrsing. Thank God for the understanting staff and manager!! |

the four poster bed was brilliant, just what newlyweds need. loved the dark interior and how close we were to the minster. would have liked a bath instead of a shower. |

room was nice and large, bathroom was clean, the hotel was very nice and in keeping with the age by keeping all the original features. The reception area is very disorganised, just a little cupboard area at side of bar. Also you were not able to pay by card for your balance had to go out specifically to draw out the cash as we did not take our cheque book as we expected to be able to pay by the card that we booked the hotel with in the first place. Should be informed of this fact in advance. |

We stayed in one of the four poster bedrooms overlooking York Cathedral-it was very special and would definitely book there again. The breakfasts were very good as well. |

Ideal situation for sight seeing, right opposite York minster, the breakfast menu was excellent and it was nice to have a drink in the bar before retiring. The staff were helpful, polite and friendly. The room was clean and towels changed daily a lovely room. There wasn't one comfortable seat in the whole place, it was very noisy early in the mornings with deliveries and staff banging doors.Unfortunately we took our lap top with us as we were told wi-fi was available- it wasn't. |

The ambience of the place is superb. open fires, gas and candle light. A real welcome on a cold evening. The staff were really friendly and helpful, and the food served in the hotel was superb. |

The hotel is situated a stones throw (literally) from the Minster, which makes for a very imposing sight when you draw the curtains in the morning. The building has bags of character, and really looks the part for it's centuries old unique place in the city and country's history. Our room was small for the price (but perhaps to be expected for the age of the building). The one girl serving breakfast was forgetful of our requests at breakfast. |

The location was superb, the room was lovely and the hotel charming. I would stay again. We were not informed on arrival that we could not pay by visa, a problem with the machine! so we were left short of cash for our journey home, very inconvenient. |

Good breakfast. The key card machine was not working. Staff had to use master key to let us into our room. Which was not a problem until the master card failed to work. Meaning we could not retrieve our belongings from our room after breakfast. My daugter had an interview at the university. |

Location (near the event I was going to) Room was stark. Constant noise including what sound like furniture moving all night both nights, Breakfast service was poor. Didn't take credit cards. No food on Friday or Saturday night. No new shower gel/shampoo left for 2nd night when originals had been used first night. basically not value for money! |

The food is great. with friendly staff. They are busy but if you grab their attention they will be happy to help. The beer . They have ale of the week at a really good price. The warmth and atmosphere of this very old Inn which still uses gas light. Food great. Good central location. this hotel does not accept any form of credit/debit card. CASH ONLY.We had enough cash on us but some people may not. |

quaint room & 4 poster bed plus location right next to york minister is ideal.was nice to be woken by the sound of church bells. car parking facilities are poor, having to book in ,leave luggage then drive round a busy town centre trying to locate car spaces...also i did feel that the cost for 1 nights stay was excessive, even if it was valentines( i did feel ripped off as car park fee of £10 should be at least included in the £175 cost of room !!!!!!!!!!!! |

The hotel has lots of history around it and the rooms are beautiful and the bed was very comfy and clean, the view of York Minister is brilliant and the staff were friendly and helpful, i would recommend and i would stay again. The only fault with the hotel is the parking facility (which really isnt about the hotel) but you have to park about 5 mins away. |

Excellent central location, fantastic building and lovely decor, good beer and food (breakfast bacon sandwich really hit the spot !), staff were great, really friendly. Some noise outside at night. Road sweeper at 5am ! Not the hotel's fault ! |
