The location is perfect for us. The hotel had great floor to ceiling windows and had real milk in the fridge. Bottled water was complimentary and the showers were powerful too. Bar area was cosy.
Cost of breakfast was extortionate!
Room was very nice, clean and comfortable. Cocktail bar was excellent :)
Breakfast was poor value for money
This was our first visit to Edinburgh and the g&v made it a most pleasant stay. Beautiful looking hotel, really helpful staff. Would definitely re visit
Would have been an added bonus to have a spa. And it appeared breakfast was only available on weekend mornings.
Everything, the location, the staff and the rooms were amazing! Wish we could have stayed longer and will stay again if we get the chance.
Only thing is the noise from the street of a night
A great hotel with friendly and helpful staff. Everything about the hotel was perfect.
Style, service, amenities, ambience, location
nothing, zero, zilch - 'twas all very splendid
Staff were super friendly and did everything to make guests comfortable. Location excellent, rooms comfy. Would always go again...
One of our rooms was quite nous during the night (street/car), the standard room does not have lots of room to store clothes... Just some hangers. But no issue if you're there for a weekend.
Only that we were told the hotel would be refurbished and therefore lose the stunning interior design
Car not washed with valet costing £35
The staff in the reception, especially the "the doorman" who take car of luggage and our car.
Poor breakfast service. Wrong disch served withlow quality
couldn't get on the Wi-Fi didn't give me a option to put in the code to use it when using my phone
Everything from the decor, great reception staff, sweety jars at reception. Bathroom was amazing really comfy bed. Proper little bottle of milk not those UHT pots for tea/coffee
The style of the hotel makes it feel such a special pleasure to treat urself. The room was big and comfortable and although it looked out onto the Royal Mile, I didn't have sleep interupted with noise. The location was excellent.
Really pushed to say but....ran out of breakfast tea bags and they weren't replaced! That's really pushing it to find something I didn't like!!
The staff are very helpful and friendly and the Italian restaurant remarkable, such a delicious meal, so fresh and tasty. A great place from which to explore Edinburgh.

The room was gorgeous. It was large with a beautiful bathroom. It was also tastefully decorated. It was such a surprise b/c the size of the room is not common in Europe or the UK. I would absolutely stay here again.
reception people were wonderful, especially Henna!!!!
Good breakfast ( a lot of eggs choices) big bed, nice and helpfull staff (polish lady Karolina) , very late open drink bar (big choice , many beers ). good location. Relative low price for such quality
Nothing, everything was ok
Location. Helpful staff Comfy bed
lack of clothes storage in rooms. Only a few hangers. Minimal drawer space. Not suitable for more than a night or two.
Position for seeing historic old Edinburgh and also shopping and sightseeing in the New Town. Beautiful city.
My daughter and I stayed at the G & V for 5-days before she began studies at the University of Edinburgh. The location on the Royal Mile was within walking distance of shopping, old town historical attractions, fine dining and the University. (Although, we opted for a taxi on move-in day after spending several days shopping and with large suitcases in tow.) We were appreciative of the hotel staff, who greeted us warmly, were efficient with concierge requests and helpful with suggestions for locating specific shopping items and venues. The wait staff in the Missoni Bar were also professional and personable even during weekend evenings when business was brisk. Our room was tastefully decorated and beautifully maintained. We had a quiet interior room with a courtyard view that was charming and quaint. We did have to ask for instructions to access the free wi-fi, but once on, it was reliable and fast. We enjoyed the Nespresso machine, comfy robes and thought the television had a nice selection of stations and a few movie channels. We will certainly be back at the G & V on our next trip to Edinburgh.
Had a delicious pasta dish .
Booked afternoon tea 50birthday surprise disaster ! No booking no cake and candle as requested felt very let down for my friend ..and bit embarrassed .
Great location for the castle as my husband has walking difficulties. Staff friendly and helpful. Hotel very clean. Would stay in the hotel again.
I think for the price of the hotel breakfast should be included and not have to pay as an addition charge.
