Whitford
This 14th-century Welsh manor is on a hillside on Snowdonia, with fabulous views of the mountains and coast. The on-site restaurant serves local produce from its kitchen-garden. Some bedrooms at Gwesty Maes Y Neuadd Hotel have antiques, 16th-century beams and high ceilings. There are 2 historic 14th-century rooms. In summer, morning coffee and afternoon tea can be served on the terrace with views of Mount Snowdon and the sea. The hotel is a good base for exploring Snowdonia, the North Wales coast and historic castles. Hotel Rooms: 15 The most recent booking for this hotel was made on 19 May at 16:44 from United Kingdom.

Location. Grounds Young receptionist was friendly Room décor and furniture were tasteful Older manageress was snooty Room only one window so initial feeling was 'pokey'. There were cobwebs in the bathroom and bedroom. Very dusty around fire bell. Fire doors were Spartan as you would expect, but more to the point chipped and in need of paint. Light switches looked worn and dirty, which was a pity as the room was fine. It was a last minute booking at a reduced rate so we expected a lower value room in an out house, which is exactly what we got, The breakfast at £17.50 per head was overpriced and as it was a room only for £59 plus £2 booking I feel it was overpriced when compared to similar options. We had to wait nearly 10 minutes to pay the bar bill. I have travelled extensively as a photographer, my friend is a business consultant in Qatar. We understand value, service and quality. Resting on former glories would be the phrase that comes to mind.

Great food, friendly staff. Lovely period features. Lovely scenery. Wifi never worked, wonder if it ever does! Not really suitable for young children as the other guests behave like they shouldn't be there. No real choice other than hotel for dinner as the country lanes are narrow for night driving to nearest place. Expensive breakfast. One morning had to have a cold shower as no hot water.

The staff were great and the location beautiful. Rooms could probably do with some modernisation but they were spotless. Will certainly stay again!

The hotel and surrounding countryside is beautiful.I thought that growing their own vegetables was an excellent idea as it is good to have natural food, which by the way was delicious. It was wonderful to see Mount Snowdow from our bedroom window.A perfect place for a few days stay.

The location was not quite as expected. Asked for Port Madoc when booking on the internet and found the access routes quite restrictive. The bar area lacked atmosphere could do with a little music playing in the background.

The staff were very good, the food was excellent, my wife has a gluten allergy and the hotel chef and staff ensure she was catered for at every meal. Many thanks. The room was nice, however it needed to be cleaned to the correct standard for this type of hotel. Some basic diy would not go a miss.

The surroundings of the hotel were beautiful, ideally situated with a 10 minute drive to the local beach. We went for this hotel solely on the basis that they allowed dogs, unfortunately what they failed to mention or highlight clearly is that you must firstly ring them up and check availability of a pet friendly room before booking anything (they only have two pet friendly rooms available). Unfortunately as this was not made clear to us we booked a non refundable room (all rooms are non refundable no matter what the circumstances it seems). It was only on ringing ahead that we found our pets were not allowed to stay and so they were effectively stranded, luckily we found a solution to this - not through any assistance from the hotel may I add. In addition we paid £100.00 for our room, which I feel is well over priced for what was on offer - the room smelt of damp much like the rest of the hotel did and you are made to sleep in a blanket, for this amount of money I expect a duvet! And be prepared to spend a hefty amount on breakfast and dinner, it may be home grown food but I cant seem to justify £17.95 for a welsh breakfast ESP when you can go 10 minutes down the road and get a lovely breakfast for £7.00 Also be prepared to hear everything through the paper thin walls!
