Best breakfasts in the world, and if you eat in excellent dinners as well plus a very nice bar. The landlord is a splendid chap and very attentive. Despite our rooms facing the road the double glazed windows meant we didn't hear a thing and you're not too far from Dolgellau if you want a bit of night life
The breakfasts were so good that I didn't feel like climbing any hills afterwards- my phone couldn't get a signal but that was probably a good thing if I'm being honest
This is a very good place to go to get away from it all! (see the negatives!). The food is lovely!
No TV, the hotel is too low in the valley so there is no signal. Limited or no mobile phone signal for the same reason. The WiFi is unreliable and stopped working one evening.
Stunning location Comfortable clean rooms Comfortable and welcoming lounge/bar area Fantastic Breakfast
Nothing we did not like
The breakfast was good.
The hotel is locked at midnight, which was a problem as some of our party wanted to stay out later for night fishing. The proprietor said he had only one key to the front door, which seemed odd.
Clean, good car park, good location if you like remote, meals and breakfast was good, room partly upgraded.
No tv anywhere to check weather, no wi-fi or signal, food quite expensive, cheaper and better accommodation within 10mins if you can book early.
enjoyable stay, good meals evening and breakfast, friendly and clean. would recommend. Many thanks
Fabulous location, especially for tackling Cadair Idris. Breakfast was very good.
Damp-smelling room No television No wifi Dated furnishings Constant power cuts Owner 'entertains' you with a constant stream of depressing anecdotes about how poor the services to the area are.
Location really couldn't have been much better.
Bit quiet, bar looked closed up for the night before 10pm but maybe that's just the license.
Location. Interesting old building. Clean and well maintained. Excellent food- very well cooked and just the right amount. Breakfast too. Attractive well decorated bedroom and bathroom. Friendly service. All in all a good visit.
The bed was a bit past it. Duvet seemed to be of felt. Shower head needs servicing. Unfortunately the tinned/stewed fruit for breakfast on that morning, had begun to ferment. Nothing else.
Lots of character, neat and tidy, great hot food, particularly breakfast.
Some may find single room cosy.
Food was excellent. We tried the evening meal on the first night, mainly to avoid going out searching for an alternative. It was so good we didn't bother looking any further for the remainder of our stay. Although I have put location as good, if you are planning to walk Cadair Idris, as we were, the location is excellent. The bar has a very good stock of bottled beers, in addition to draft keg. Plenty of space to socialise.
Nothing at all I could say we didn't like. The nearest I could find to a criticism is that the host could sometimes be a little over-attentive, but it is difficult to really complain about that!
Location, evening meals, good bed.
velux window needed a blind.
Lovely friendly welcome and service - nothing too much trouble - great for a quiet slump after a busy day cycling on the Mawwdach trail.
Single room above restaurant is noisy - but lovely!
very good food and friendly attentive service
Peaceful location quiet and beautiful
Attention: payment in advance right after booking! Refound after cancellation strictly impossible! Landlord is restistent on negotiations about refound, even the cancelled room was occupied with other guest again. We found in the room some leftovers of the previous guests, like used tissue in the drawer and a re-wraped cup with stains inside the cup.
comfortable bed, quiet, the longe
muddy car park,
Fabulous location for the start of Minffordd path, surrounded by the welsh mountains...lovely olde worldy place if you like that kind of thing, Best cooked breakfast I've ever eaten!!
Sorry have nothing negative to say about this place and owners :)
Beautiful location.Amazing hills and valleys.Peaceful - a good place to unwind. The rooms were comfortable and our host was attentive and entertaining. The food was delicious and you can have an evening meal as well as breakfast. Books and games are provided.
Accepted that there was no television. On the whole happy with this hotel.
Top location and a Hotel with character yet friendly and comfortable
Landlord hovered while we were in the Bar
Hotel food was good and well situated.
No Internet No tv No radio Food Staff Room
Cooked breakfast was wonderful - huge and tasty. Friendly atmosphere. Enjoyed having no TV. Wonderful location. Generally comfortable and cozy, both the room and the rest of the hotel. Good for digital detox. Owner was very helpful.
The room could have been aired for longer before I arrived. Road outside is busier than might be expected for such a remote location, and traffic starts quite early in the morning. Wi-fi was down while I was there. Signal on mobile phone unobtainable.
Continual talking to at breakfast. Really hot room. No television.
Hotel very nice Amazing environment Excellent gastronomy Very nice room
