Very large King sized bedroom Location Food Lovely bath with hot water Local shops and takeaways View
Location. Staff. The food available was excellent. Mountain views.
Minor maintenance issues. Availability of steaks on steak night
Peace and quiet :) Nice views. Comfortable for good money.
Good location, beautiful surroundings which speak nothing for the inside of the hotel.
Staff were poorly mannered and unhelpful. Got charged twice because the staff had no idea. Staff were not around when we needed assistance.
The setting is beautiful, apart from the town itself which seems to be full of drinking youths and drug addicts making noise in the small hours of the morning.
Upon arrival we had to go hunting for a member of staff in the bar as no one was available to greet us. When we finally found someone we were checked in but had to find the room on our own instead of being shown in person. The room was spacious but was in poor condition. It was cold and seemed to have had no face lift since the 80's. The mirror light in the bathroom wasn't working, there were cracks in the sink that hadn't been repaired and the wallpaper was coming away from the wall. We had checked out the menu on line before arriving and it looked so good we booked a table for the evening of our stay. That evening we found the restaurant was empty and no one around. We went to the bar and mentioned our booking, but the bar girl simply said the service was in the bar tonight as there were only two staff members available. Surrounded by scruffy drinkers and noisy music we lost our appetite. She showed us the bar menu, quite different from the restaurant menu we had seen on line. I asked where was the menu I'd seen on their site, but she replied that was the only menu they had. Confused, I loaded their menu on my phone and showed it to her, but she replied nonchalantly that that was the "old menu" and walked off without any offer of apology. We went out for a curry in the end. During the night we were awoken by the noise from the drinkers outside the hotel, a brawl at about 2 a.m. and the arrival of the police. The single glazed windows offered no protection from that racket or from the cold. On the morning of our departure, when handing in the keys, the hotel tried to overcharge us by £80! I explained we had booked the room for £50, not £130! They made some adjustments on their old laptop (which didn't inspire any confidence) and said that was fine. Why the huge error, I wondered? Overall, a bad experience and one that I would severely recommend to others to AVOID.
Staff were friendly and welcoming, but not available all the time when needed!
There was a mix up with the staff rota one morning, there were no staff available at 7.50am until just before 9am and breakfast was extremely late!!
Close to town and slate tavern for visitors. Some staff were friendly and helpful. Bed was comfortable. Room was quiet. l.
Hotel a bit run down and needs refurbishment - carpet is old and not clean, heating not working well, poor lighting in corridor and some lights were not working. Bath room was too cold for a shower. No one manning the reception counter when you check in and check out - we had to look for them. Cold breakfast and hardly anyone there to top up food.
This hotel would be perfectly fine if you just wanted a bed for the night. Although they are a little dated the rooms were comfortable and well equipped.
Although some of the staff were plesant and helpful the majority seemed inconvenienced by our presence. This was especially true in the restaurant where the waiting staff audibly sighed at any request (things such as asking for the bill!) and showed no enthusiasm or pride in their job. The same was true at breakfast where we had to go looking through the hotel to find a member of staff to provide plates for the breakfast buffet as they hadn't accounted for more than the one family which was in the restaurant when we got there. I would also mention that the road outside the hotel stayed busy with drinkers until the early hours of the morning so would not be idea if traveling with children.
Young local bar waitress was very welcoming and assisted with all our needs. Room was cleam and tidy to a good standard, bathroom could be slightly updated.
Restraunt was not open the evening of arrival, although we had a phonecall that day to make a reservation. Therefore did not eat on the way up due to the assumption we would eat there, only loval option then was a takeaway. In addition according to the waitress at breackfast the chef had not turned up for his shift, therefore food took a little while, but quality of food was effected as a result. Alot of youmg children in the bar at evening time, and strong smell of canabis at front door at one point
Staff very pleasant and helpful. Prices reasonable. Good breakfast. Evening meals substantial- good plain food and good value.
Bar decor and furnishings rather tired. No car parking.
We found a lot of things to like such as the helpfulness and cheerfulness of staff, a good standard of breakfast and the grandeur of the breakfast room. The food was rather good, and the Welsh beer too. And the views!
Minor details of maintenance would enhance the property
location Friendliness of staff Breakfast being self service room was very spacious
breakfast was late opening Breakfast was just warm Took a long time to check in as no staff around Advertised snowdonia view from the room but very restricted and could see hardly anything other than the car park.
Friendly staff, good location and nice facilities. Clean and comfortable hotel with bar and restaurant. Rooms were light and airy. Staff very helpful and accommodating
Being very picky, too much noise from the room above were we were staying.
The hotel is in a good location and the price was great
The wifi didn't reach our room and the food in the restaurant wasn't good.
Bar and restaurant as part of the hotel. Great food, lovely breakfast with a range of options. Convenience shops nearby. Comfy bed. Good room facilties. Close by slate caverns and atttractions
Shower was a little lacking in power. Had to pay for parking (although was only a few pounds).
Scenery was breathtaking
Lack of bars and restaurants in the location. Hotel food wasn't that great.
bed and shower very comfy!
The table by the bedside lamp was quite dusty.
Hotel is around half hour drive from Snowdon. Super King Room was large and spacious. Close to shop and takeaway. Overall good stay :)
Wifi only really worked in reception and immediate bar area. One radiator not working can imagine room getting very cold during the middle of winter. No hot water on the morning of climbing Snowdon.
Not a lot!
Where to start!! thilthy out side, seemed to be run by young girls, not welcoming, bed springs sticking out, hour and a half wait for dinner, no apology or reason, terrible service, reception/bar filthy from previous day, breakfast discussing, dog barking in above room, shouting and screaming from main enter acne, youngsters (I think work there) very loud and swearing in bar. Felt like a youth hostel! Place needs some TLC and staff that should know how to run a hotel. A family at dinner waited over an hour for meals only half arrived still hadnt had their meals when the others had finished thiers staff didn't give a damn. Rooms not hoovered after previous guests, no blind in bathroom but broken rail! Wardrobe smelt could put clothes in there. Shame, nice building just needs to be tidied up and have people in the hotel trade running it!
Free upgrade to King Room, plenty of space, good bar meals, good breakfasts, proximity to railway stations and not too far from Slate Caverns.
Minimal lighting, towels changed unnecessarily, soap, toilet paper and biscuits not topped up. A table (for the laptop) would have been nice.
The location to the railway station.
Dead flies on the carpet when we arrived , still there when we left three days later . Towel under toilet with excretment stain on it . The toilet blocked the next day , causing spillage on floor from around base and when i reported it the cleaner said oh no not again ! The breakfast overall was poor , and one lady with long hair only had it tied back one in three mornings . We felt we were putting the staff out by being a guest there . Not even hope you had a nice stay when we checked out . We left totally disheartened .
The staff were friendly and helpful. The food in the restaurant was very good along with the service. Good value hotel
Noice from the bar below distrubed sleep several times till 1 AM
proximity to station Staff friendliness great breakfast cosy accommodation
For the price we had a very nice room and overall the staff were nice and the food was very tasty indeed ..we will no doubt use the gwesty hotel again
If we are being honest there is nothing that we did not find to be of any reason not to like
