Location and parking
Recently renovated room was of poor standard (room smelt of paint although half finished and poor quality fixtures and fittings) and noisy plumbing, slamming of doors all night and windows that had massive gaps in made for a lousy nights sleep
Room was large and comfortable Bathroom very good especially shower. Breakfast very well cooked and presented by cheerful helpful young lady excellent value for money. Well presented hotel.
Television in room attached literally at top of the wall far too high for viewing comfort. Noise after 11pm men moving furniture into a van and talking loudly under our bedroom window. Heating not put on in rooms until 5pm and one night turned off at 8pm in October!!!FREEZING
Location and friendly helpful staff
Rooms still below par
I enjoyed my stay at the Gwydyr. It is a piece of history built back in the 1820s. Keep that in mind when staying there. Do not expect the best plumbing or floor plan. However the staff was friendly & helpful, the property is clean and the service is excellent.
Plumbing is out-dated. Mattress could be replaced.
The rooms were comfortable and quite. The staff were really friendly and helpful. The free WiFi was excellent. The restaurant was great - we ended up eating there all three nights because everything on the menu was delicious. We got a great room rate out of season. I definitely want to come back here!
Tiny suggestion: a light above the washbasin would have been nice.
Location, excellent lounge and bar area.
the staff the location people were friendly and helpful and would go again to the same place
the meals. they was of good quality and a fair pice. I was told that there will be a safe to store biles on the future...
for the price I would of liked a breakfast included
Fantastic location bedroom very large free WiFi nice staff great food very helpful free parking
food staff location
due to stairs not ideal for anyone with walking problems rooms need updating
the resturant and the rooms. good value for the money.
the bill never like the bill.
Staff and breakfast. Modern downstairs look and heaters at the front seating area. Excellent shower
Bedrooms need some decor updating
the staff were friendly and helpful and everything you needed within a few yards.
the only thing that I found a bit of a problem was the amount of traffic passing at such early hours in the morning so if your a light sleeper try not to get a room at the front
Stayed here for the last night of our tour of Wales. Plenty of secluded parking behind the hotel on flat tarmac. High standard of renovations have been carried out & are apparently continuing for some time. We had one of the newly renovated rooms at the front of the hotel which was stunning. Some noise from the road though as the windows are single glazed & old. We didn't consider it a problem though. Friendly staff. Food is available in the evening & was good quality normal unpretentious pub food at fair prices. We would stay there again
I was travelling solo and was given a nice double room at a reasonable price. The staff were all very professional, friendly and helpful. The evening meals were original, tasty and filling. Although lots of groups use the hotel, they do not adversely affect the service.
Breakfast was satisfactory, but nothing special.
Bed frame very noisy when turning thus waking up partner.Plumbing and Electrics need to be completely updated. 2 Lights sparked and blew whilst we were in our room.No on/off switch to where the lights where plugged in. Additional Sockets where supplied by a basic multi socket adapter screwed to the wall. The sink was in the room rather than in with the Bath/Shower and Loo - thus no privacy. The Boarding between rooms so thin that all activity could be clearly heard. On the second room The door had 2" gaps around which allowed for movement every time other doors were closed, Conversations could be clearly heard of the people walking by
Friendliness and helpfulness of the staff and the location.
Bedrooms were in desperate need of refurbishment. Smallest bathroom with plug that didn't come out as it was broken. Sink in the bedroom and not the bathroom which was quite inconvenient. Evening meal was poor. Three attempts at cooking a sirloin steak medium rare and still wasn't right.
made it very easy to stay with our dog and took the stress our of staying with him.
Good value, very comfortable, good breakfast.
Rooms very old fashioned and need upgrading, but I believe this is in hand over the next few months.
The staff at Gwydyr were friendly, welcoming and helpful. I did not eat dinner at the hotel, but the breakfasts were very good and certainly filled us up sufficiently for a day out walking. The hotel is in the middle of a refurbishment and the downstairs has been completed; it looks good and is comfortable. The location is great, being in the village itself.
As mentioned, the hotel is in the middle of a refurbishment and the bedrooms have not yet been done. The beds are soft, the décor is dated and we had a very old electric shower in the bathroom. However, everything was clean and once the refurbishment is complete this will be a lovely hotel all round.
Well priced accommodation in an excellent location.
How close it was to the amenities of the town Good car parking
Breakfast was not included in the price. Single room dark and stuffy as window was frosted glass that had not been cleaned on the outside for what looks like many years and I could not open it Only 2 working plug sockets, sign on other 2 not to use - electrician been called, this sign looked like it had been there a while. Cobwebs in the bathroom. Door to room rattled due to draught everytime door in corridor was opened
The Gwydwy Hotel is in a terrific central position of the beautiful town of Betws-y Coed. Gwydwy is clean and spacious, the food is simple but well presented and tasty.
Although the staff were polite and friendly it was quite hard to find them. The hotel was apparently full while we were there but seemed to run with a skeleton staff. The room we had was at the front and could benefit from thicker curtains or a blackout blind as a very bright street light spoilt our sleep, each time we woke up it looked like daylight and we wondered if we had overslept.
Very convenient location Good size room Breakfast Bar
room 20 should not be allocated to anybody moved to room 24 big room with big bed bathroom needs a lot of work
