I was travelling solo and was given a nice double room at a reasonable price. The staff were all very professional, friendly and helpful. The evening meals were original, tasty and filling. Although lots of groups use the hotel, they do not adversely affect the service.
Breakfast was satisfactory, but nothing special.
Friendliness and helpfulness of the staff and the location.
Bedrooms were in desperate need of refurbishment. Smallest bathroom with plug that didn't come out as it was broken. Sink in the bedroom and not the bathroom which was quite inconvenient. Evening meal was poor. Three attempts at cooking a sirloin steak medium rare and still wasn't right.
Good value, very comfortable, good breakfast.
Rooms very old fashioned and need upgrading, but I believe this is in hand over the next few months.
Well priced accommodation in an excellent location.
The Gwydwy Hotel is in a terrific central position of the beautiful town of Betws-y Coed. Gwydwy is clean and spacious, the food is simple but well presented and tasty.
Although the staff were polite and friendly it was quite hard to find them. The hotel was apparently full while we were there but seemed to run with a skeleton staff. The room we had was at the front and could benefit from thicker curtains or a blackout blind as a very bright street light spoilt our sleep, each time we woke up it looked like daylight and we wondered if we had overslept.
Very convenient location Good size room Breakfast Bar
room 20 should not be allocated to anybody moved to room 24 big room with big bed bathroom needs a lot of work
Ground floor area nice and tidy after obvious refurbishment.
Bedrooms clean but obviously in need of modernising, however, on chatting to owner, she confirmed work will be starting soon.
Shabby chic without the chic
Staff Car parking facility Efficient Wi-Fi Cleanliness
Fried bread tasting of old oil, hence not eaten after the first bite.
Staff were pleasant!
Broken bed, poor sleep, additional cost for breakfast! Broken toilet seat, loose bed side light. No offer of reduction in price upon telling of room condition.
The price, booked online.
Felt that we were put in a small room at the top because we had booked online. Bed very lumpy and an empty chocolate wrapper down the back of the bedside cabinet. Menu for breakfast was in the bedroom but not in the restaurant and we weren't taken through the options for a cooked breakfast, which would have helped me with my choice as I don't eat fried bread. Felt short-changed on breakfast.
Location is great for Mt Snowdon, opposite a park area so good views, Easy to find on the main high street, Excellent food at reasonable prices, All in all a good place to stay over night or longer stay's.
some people complained that the rooms were in need of TLC agreed, But in respect our room was clean and tidy and very comfortable. A work in progress good luck to the new owners.
Beds and location and down stairs decor
Outdated bathroom so much so that we did not shower for the 2 days that we were there. Went to make a cup of coffee and the kettle was not very clean with a big hair over the top. Did not like the sink in the bedroom
Very helpful staff Great location
No towel or toilet roll holders . No telephone. No bathmat or handrail. No table/desk
Location, we could also take our little dog and the shops were good. We could park in the car-park and walk around the area at leisure.
Checked in and shown to our room before we were told that breakfast was £10.50 each, extra charge. The "beautiful view" was of the-park....complete with dog mess around where we parked. The bed was extremely uncomfortable, we had hardly any sleep at all during the two nights stay. We also had to keep asking for more milk, sugar and tea/coffee. I did mention the bed to the lady that checked us out, but she was disinterested, and told me that the room had had a new mattress. I explained that we were rolling into one another during the night, but she seemed as if she couldn`t care less. We ate there once and the meal was very small and served on cold plates. I still have a bad back from the bed. The two nights cost £130, without breakfast. The room was not very good, it needs bringing into the 21st century. Decent sized bath towels would be a plus too.
The room was nicely decorated & the view was great. Housekeeping staff were very pleasant & took the time to talk & take interest. The bar menu at the hotel needs to be updated & made a lot more interesting especially with all the competition around.
The staff when we arrived ignored us for a while & the bar man was easily confused he walked off to do another job still with our change in his hand. In the bar we did feel more of an inconvenience than a customer. Breakfast was fine but again staff didn't seem to care we were there & didn't explain about breakfast & there were no menus either.
While we were there my husband was taken ill. The staff were very helpful and caring. We also left things behind in a drawer! These were sent on the next day with no problem. Excellent service. Thanks.
Location was ideal, both for the village and for travel around North Wales. Parking on site, pleasant and helpful staff, nicely refurbished downstairs areas. Room very clean and well serviced. Beds comfortable. Easy to book.
Room in need of refurbishment but I gather this is on the cards. Breakfast ok but would have liked some filter coffee, or a cafetier would have been nice.
The price, location and cleanliness was great. Certain members of the staff couldn't do enough for you.
It needs updating, the water pipes shake when they are filling but the worst part is without doubt 1 member of the bar staff who thinks she is owner. I've never been told "haven't you got a home to go to?" at the 10,30 pm in a residents bar! Its open till 12am yet shuts at 11pm! This girl looks looks like "Charlotte from the inbetweeners" and she put us off spending any more money in this hotel. There were plenty of places that did want our trade though. She without doubt was the worst part. If she doesn't want to work late then she should find a new job. Remember residents are on holiday.
On arrival there was no record of our booking so therefore our expected rooms not available. Were given inferior rooms as told that was all that was available. Blamed booking .com
Standard of cleanliness Comfortable room Pleasant staff Relaxed atmosphere
I would have preferred a more substantial mattress on the bed.
