Noisy plumbing from next room
The location, the food, the accommodation, the friendliness, in fact everything.
The food is excellent, the decor is fabulous and the en-suites are a pleasure to stay in
a fantastic room, beautifully furnished with an amazing huge wet room. The owners were so friendly and hospitable and we had a lovely evening meal. Absolutely top notch and in a lovely village with incredible views. We'll definitely be back!
size of the room and bathroom (stayed in oddfellows room). Shower amazing, bed comfortable and large. Jane the owner, polite friendly and helpful
Rooms were excellent?
We were led to believe we were going to a hotel where we would be able to sit and enjoy a drink. Unfortunately there was no lounge and no bar available throughout our stay and the restaurant was only open Thurs to Sat.
Friendly staff. Clean and comfortable stylish rooms. Enjoyed this stay very much.
comfort of bed, quiet peaceful location, 6 miles from Richmond.
The staff are so friendly, the rooms are so comfortable and clean. We would highly recommend the hack and spade to everyone we no.
We chose the Hack and Spade after reading the reviews and were not disappointed. It was a pit stop stay on our drive back to Sussex after our holiday in Scotland and our only regret was it wasn't for longer! Shall certainly be returning.
Spacious new bedroom and large wet room decorated tastefully with attention to detail. Real coffee and refine teas! Very comfy bed and quiet location set in beautiful countryside. Very helpful personal owner, nothing seemed to be too much trouble.
Nothing, but perhaps could suggest music in the dining room.
Beautifully decorated room, huge bathroom and very peaceful. Owner was very friendly and helpful. Didn't eat in the evening but breakfast was lovely, and the black pudding is every bit as good as other reviewers said!
Nothing! Location may be an issue for some people though.
The friendly staff and general atmosphere, the outstanding food and beautifully decorated rooms.
We received a warm welcome and it was very interesting talking to Andy and Jane. The rooms were excellent
Nothing to report.
From the initial contact to the waving goodbye, Jane made us feel very welcome .We booked the hotel for a long weekend birthday / anniversary celebration to follow the Tour de France. Jane got up very early Saturday to make our breakfast and to make us a packed lunch to take for the day. Her menus include an excellent selection of locally sourced food. The black pudding is to die for !!! Our room was just superb , the views are breath taking and very quiet and relaxing.
That I didn't take my slippers !!!
Unashamed luxury, very well appointed room, lots of nice touches such as quality toiletries and fluffy bathrobes. Excellent food, both dinner and breakfast were memorable meals with excellent cooking and ingredients.
Nothing, this is a small and perfectly formed "restaurant with rooms".
A lovely welcome from Jane and Andy - great food, comfy room - big bed. Lovely bathroom. Will go again.
