The Half Moon Hotel and Restaurant has been in the same family for nearly 40 years. A heritage listed building with a history going back some 400 years, the hotel is in a lively area. All of the recently refurbished hotel rooms are non-smoking and have private bathrooms. Some of the accommodations are on first floor level, with access for the disabled. The restaurant seats 50 people and is non-smoking. A cosmopolitan and varied menu suits all tastes including vegetarians. An extensive wine list compliments the menu and there is also a wide selection of real ales to suit all tastes. The Half Moon uses the best quality produce available. Excellant location, like going into yester-year. Only draw back about this village.. No Sky tv anywhere!!!! So if your getting away from it all but want to watch a game then you'll be very disappointed. Cost!! Hotel was great, but a little expensive at £45 per person for x1 night, but excellant standards as you would expect for this price!!!

Very pleasant room which also had free WiFi. Hotel staff were very friendly and pleasant. The location was great being in the town but with a lovely garden and ample parking facilities. Nice bar with pool table and there is a bar menu and a restaurant menu. Terrine starter and steak and guiness pie were very nice. My vegetarian rissotto was dry and stogey - not nice at all and couldnt eat it. However I wasnt charged for it and was offered a replacment.

The Half Moon is very quiet in a rural location. Parking is available and access to our room was via a private entrance. Breakfast was very good and plentiful. The staff at breakfast were extremely helpful. There was nothing to dislike

Friendly and attentive staff. Room was clean and well furnised, bathroom small but clean and a good shower. The noise - paper thin walls meant you could hear every sound from the bathroom of the next room, not good at 6am. The floor boards in the corridor were very creaky and door locks and doors were very noisey when being used.

We had a really good stay over the Christmas holiday and even had Christmas lunch there. A really enjoyable stay, though the choices of Hotel in Alford is somewhat limited! Some of the bar staff were grumpy! Not much Christmas ho ho ho!
