Food options are varied, good old English, Italian, fine dining and tapas. The village is beautiful with many old properties that are well maintained. Pubs are oldy worldly and very busy at weekends. Plenty of good coffee shops. Paid Parking is available at either end of the village if staying over 1 hour so no problem parking. Village parking is restricted. Walking options are all around and many locals are happy to oblige if you need directions.

The peaceful environment gave us a great and relaxing feel albeit our stay was a bit too short. The town is filled with great culture and atmosphere and the people were kind and friendly. A place worth to visit for a good break !

Absolutely stunning, beautiful place full of character.
Absolutely stunning, beautiful place full of character. We visited slightly out of season so was not too busy. Smiths is an amazing restaurant, specialising in gourmet burgers, you will not be disappointed! Lots of other independent shops selling a range of crafts, antiques and much more.

Beautiful village but extremely popular.
Beautiful village but extremely popular. Try and avoid visiting over a weekend if you can. We arrived on a Saturday afternoon and there were so many people everywhere! And this was in October. Monday was much quieter but still people wandering around.
Much quieter in the evening once all the day trippers had left. Sunset was a great time to photograph the village with our the crowds.
Lots of eateries. Found the Wellington pub not as busy as the fancier looking places, but they did a very cheap and delicious Sunday roast lunch.
Bourton was a good base for us to see many other villages in the Cotswold area.

Far and away the best Cotwolds town we visited.
Far and away the best Cotwolds town we visited. There was a whole town centre to explore, around the small river and the five (?) old bridges over it. Around them are a whole lot of interesting shops, and a low speed limit so you felt safe doing just that. Also, if you or your kids enjoyed the TV show "Brum", you can see him/it in the motor museum (7.50 pounds).

Great central location in the Cotswolds. Made it easy to get to Stratford-Upon-Avon, Oxford and Bath. Lovely in town hotel with very friendly and helpful staff! Room was very clean and a good size. We booked the King comfy room. Breakfast was terrific and had a variety of offerings...full English breakfast, smoked salmon, fruit, delicious fresh pastries, etc. We missed eating in the attached Italian restaurant but it was packed every night of our 4 night stay.
Great pub in a gorgeous village in the Cotswolds. Room was comfy and had a nice bathroom with a good shower (always important to us). We ate dinner in the pub, which was good, it's not cheap but you pay for the location. Breakfast good, my husband enjoyed the Cotswolds Breakfast. Very convenient for visiting Cotswolds, we would have hated very busy Bourton on the Water, here you are close enough but far enough away to escape throngs of tourists.
The Inn is charming and the staff are very friendly and helpful. Alex and Honey went above and beyond by delivering our luggage to us at our next hotel since the Mousetrap Inn was booked so we couldn't extend our stay, and we didn't have a car. Our room was clean and comfortable. Breakfast was very good and served with a smile and a chat. It felt like home away from home because they were so friendly.
The hotel was aesthetically pleasing and had lots of luxury touches in the room (dyson hairdryer, nice bath salts etc). The staff couldn’t have been more helpful and friendly - they really helped us out when we had a problem with our room on the first night and rectified the issue brilliantly. The bath tub in the room was a lovely touch. The food in the restaurant was outstanding!
Very warm, friendly welcome. The hotel is very comfortable and cosy. Our room was a garden room which was very convenient and comfortable with everything we needed for a relaxing break. Hotel is in a great position in the centre of Bourton on the water. The food was delicious and a good menu choice. free parking.
Good location in lovely town of Bourton on the Water. Staff was very friendly, responsive to our needs and helpful. Special thanks to the chef who got up early to prepare take-away breakfast sandwiches -delicious and filling - an hour before scheduled breakfast service so that we could get an early start on hiking.
really lovely hosts who are super sweet, welcoming and kind. they were definitely the highlight of our stay at Bourton on the Water and made the town feel really cosy. Great amenities and amazing breakfast :) Cannot recommend Liz and Alzira and everyone at The Chestnuts enough!
Loved the room. Super cute and good for 2 people. Good size. Staff was also very nice. Check in was at the main hotel and then we were staying at a sort of off sight cottage attachment ? Little weird but fine none the less. Amazing location
Excellent value for money. Very friendly and helpful owners. Clean comfortable room. Superb breakfast and 10 minute pleasant walk along river into Bourton on the Water. We used this as our base for travelling around the Cotswolds.
In the centre of bourton on the water , a traditional styles cotswold pub/hotel with brilliant staff that made us feel welcome from the get go & felt like freinds by the end of our stay . I would definitely like to return .
Great location and was everything we expected and were looking for in a hotel. Located in middle of Cotswolds allowed us to drive around area and sock up the green fields and little villages for lunch etc.
Breakfast was extremely tasty and varied ,great choices too , excellent location right in the centre of Bourton on the water, but a very quiet hotel away from the crowds ☺️
My fiancée and I loved the stay! It was an excellent accommodation and way better than all the hotels we stayed at. The bathtub and parking made all the difference.
The hotel room was beautifully decorated; loved the views of the river from the big windows; convenient dining option at The Chip Shed below the accommodation.
