Room was too hot - staff inattentive despite being told my order for dinner would be taken at the table in the bar I had to return to the bar to place my order. The steak I had was tough and not ribeye but a very poor piece of rump. Breakfast was a disaster and took forever to be served a simple fried egg

We liked the food that we had here, both breakfast and evening meal. The room was warm and the showere effective. The restaurant and bar were much too cold, excepting on Christmas morning. Especially for a hotel, I was very disappointed to find the bar closed on Monday evening.

Its only feature was its proximity to a friend's home, which was too far from ours to drive back after a party. The decor was rather gloomy, pillows and duvet sub-standard.

Good size room and ensuite. Not overheated - a real plus point for me. Very delightful cheerful young man in charge of breakfast service in spite of the very odd meal I was served. Unable to lock room from inside although there was a chain on the door. Opened straight on to the car park - this is a motel rather than a hotel. At breakfast I was given a cup of black coffee - and some milk in a tumbler. My poached egg on toast arrived without toast! No other toast offered and young man disappeared. Made do with fried bread from pre cooked offerings.

It was tired looking and certainly not worth £75. They run out of a number of breakfast items. Had to wait too long to pay the bill.

Rather tired and overpriced, £60 would have been a fairer price.

My husband and stayed at the Halland Forge Hotel on Friday 29th October 2011, and firstly, I would point out that it is not an hotel. It is a Motel! The room (No. 18) is extremely dirty, the carpets and curtains need replacing and/or cleaning. There is a sink in a wardrobe in the room which does not work and the top left hand corner displays cobwebs and resident spiders. There was half a 'used' tablet of soap on the handbasin in the ensuite and there was mould on the tiles in the shower cubicle, which we decided not to use for that reason. The security of the Motel type rooms are extremely vulnerable. All in all, a very unpleasant experience. The staff were very pleasing, but I wouldnt use the Halland Forge again.

Nice restaurant with good food Room was very basic, certainly in need of modernising, the blind was broken in the bathroom. Very UNsoundproof, we nearly went home in the middle of the night because the people in the room next door were too noisy and we could hear everything. Whilst the staff were polite, they never asked us how we enjoyed our stay.

Excellent food at a reasonable price in a very well presented resturant. Comfortable and spacious room with a pleasent view. Hotel and resturant staff were very helpful and pleasent. We only stayed for one night but we would certainly return for a longer stay if the situation arose. As with many hotels the room could do with being redecorated but although it was a little shabby it was clean and fresh.

No frills, comfortable pleasant room, clean bed linen, excellent breakfast. The service was helpful and unobtrusive. Recommended. (For the owner's eyes only: the bathroom ceiling of room 8 could have done with a spot of replastering, this needs some attention). Nothing to complain about.

We stayed at the hotel for one night and it was comfortable. There was everything in the room that we needed including tea making facilities, hairdryer and T.V. Plenty of plug sockets for any extra appliances. The bed linen was clean and the bed well made. The cleanliness of the room was excellent and the rest of the hotel, toilets and restaurant. The shower was excellent - very powerful. And the best of all was the lovely full English breakfast, quick attentive service and eggs made to order. All in all we had a relaxing, enjoyable stay. Thank you very much. On the negative side the room was very hot as the heating was on. I noticed that most of the others guest also had their windows open too. The decor is a bit tired and dated.

Close to Uckfield, nice motel type rooms Cab who was recommended by hotel, and who took us to party, gave us his card to call to be picked up.When we tried this phone went to mobile. Had much trouble getting a cab back to the hotel, the receptionist when informed the next morning just said oh he is usually reliable. Not much sympathy for us being stuck in Uckfield at 12.30a.m.

Location was good, not too far from Brighton. There was a restaurant that was very nice. A cot was made available for our room as we were travelling with a young child. There were tiles missing in the shower in room 15, which I thought was dispicable. The room should not have been in use until the tiles were repaired. Breakfast was late, I had been told that breakfast is served at 07:30, but it was in fact nearer to 08:15. I was informed that this is beacause it was a Sunday, however no one told me of that fact when I booked or checked in!
