For the one night we were there it was adequate. Even though the power in the area went out overnight and was still out the next morning we still had a hot breakfast. This is more a motel than a hotel. While the bed was quite comfy the pillows were flat and hard. The musty smell in the dining room was off-putting. The whole place could do with refurbishment. Very dated and tired.

Room was too hot - staff inattentive despite being told my order for dinner would be taken at the table in the bar I had to return to the bar to place my order. The steak I had was tough and not ribeye but a very poor piece of rump. Breakfast was a disaster and took forever to be served a simple fried egg

We liked the food that we had here, both breakfast and evening meal. The room was warm and the showere effective. The restaurant and bar were much too cold, excepting on Christmas morning. Especially for a hotel, I was very disappointed to find the bar closed on Monday evening.

Good size room and ensuite. Not overheated - a real plus point for me. Very delightful cheerful young man in charge of breakfast service in spite of the very odd meal I was served. Unable to lock room from inside although there was a chain on the door. Opened straight on to the car park - this is a motel rather than a hotel. At breakfast I was given a cup of black coffee - and some milk in a tumbler. My poached egg on toast arrived without toast! No other toast offered and young man disappeared. Made do with fried bread from pre cooked offerings.

It was tired looking and certainly not worth £75. They run out of a number of breakfast items. Had to wait too long to pay the bill.

Nice restaurant with good food Room was very basic, certainly in need of modernising, the blind was broken in the bathroom. Very UNsoundproof, we nearly went home in the middle of the night because the people in the room next door were too noisy and we could hear everything. Whilst the staff were polite, they never asked us how we enjoyed our stay.

We stayed at the hotel for one night and it was comfortable. There was everything in the room that we needed including tea making facilities, hairdryer and T.V. Plenty of plug sockets for any extra appliances. The bed linen was clean and the bed well made. The cleanliness of the room was excellent and the rest of the hotel, toilets and restaurant. The shower was excellent - very powerful. And the best of all was the lovely full English breakfast, quick attentive service and eggs made to order. All in all we had a relaxing, enjoyable stay. Thank you very much. On the negative side the room was very hot as the heating was on. I noticed that most of the others guest also had their windows open too. The decor is a bit tired and dated.

Close to Uckfield, nice motel type rooms Cab who was recommended by hotel, and who took us to party, gave us his card to call to be picked up.When we tried this phone went to mobile. Had much trouble getting a cab back to the hotel, the receptionist when informed the next morning just said oh he is usually reliable. Not much sympathy for us being stuck in Uckfield at 12.30a.m.

Good sized room and comfortable. Breakfast was very good. There was a private function on and the guests for that function took over the reception which was chaotic. We were kept waiting in a small reception full of running children and guests on mobiles shouting directions to other travellers etc. It took a good half an hour before we could get to the desk and check in.

I thought the room was sizable, and the motel style of the place gave a sense of being a little more secluded, and separate from other guests, than a standard model of hotel does. The bar and dining area was very pleasant, and the food (we had a breakfast, lunch and dinner there) was both good and good value. The staff were without exception helpful and pleasant. Having arrived without a car (we came from the station by taxi) the hotel was rather more remote than I had realised; apart from a nearby pub, there wasn't very much within easy walking distance. Of course, with a car this would not be a problem.

Not a bad place, but more like a motel than a hotel. Very disappointed to find out on arrival that bar and restaurant were closed for private functions and we were not allowed in. Felt there should have been an area set aside for residents to dine and drink. Would not have booked accomodation if known in advance.

That it was only for one night and that it was near to the party I was going to. It was also very close to the Black Lion pub which did very nice breakfasts! The Halland Forge offers very basic accommodation, the interior of the rooms are very tired and in need of a fresh coat of paint and new upholstery, although there was a flat screen tv, hairdryer and trouser press. The rooms are clean but very dull.

Location was good, not too far from Brighton. There was a restaurant that was very nice. A cot was made available for our room as we were travelling with a young child. There were tiles missing in the shower in room 15, which I thought was dispicable. The room should not have been in use until the tiles were repaired. Breakfast was late, I had been told that breakfast is served at 07:30, but it was in fact nearer to 08:15. I was informed that this is beacause it was a Sunday, however no one told me of that fact when I booked or checked in!
