It was reasonably warm.
Carpet was wet, shower was poor, TV was very small. Bed was small.
Perfect location (we needed to be in the area), very comfortable bed, good buffet breakfast with made-to-order eggs, very pleasant and helpful staff
Dated style and décor - though this wasn't a problem as we were only staying briefly
The room was comfortable and the breakfast was a real trucker's feast. I felt I had had value for money.
The beds were too soft, the shower door didn't close properly so the bathroom got very wet. The lunch menu was very limited - chips with nearly everything but it was what we expected for the reasonable price. I use a wheelchair and the only bed in the disabled room was a double so we had to go into an ordinary room to have 2 singles (didn't want to share with my carer!!) The room was difficult to access as it was down a step then up a step but we had been forewarned. Still it would have been nice to have a more accessible room with twin beds.
The motel is situated at the intersection of the A22 and B2192 and very easy to locate. Very good full English breakfasts. Room radiators were very easily adjusted to maintain a pleasant temperature. Free WiFi.
The burning of incense in the reception. Having to wait 45min to be served with my starter.
All in all a really nice place, no, not to spend a 2 week holiday but a night or 2 & it's great. Nice people, good food & a welcome cozy feel.
Nothing really, you could find fault with anything if you look hard enough, but nothing not to like.
Convenient position. Warm (once we had found out how to turn on the radiator) and clean room.
Heating was not on when we arrived. Clock had not been reset after the clocks went back. Bin in bathroom had not been emptied. Filthy grout in the bathroom. Curtains far too long for the windows and missing curtain hooks. Turned out of the lounge/bar at 11pm as they wanted to lock up - told we could "go to our rooms" instead. Faded pictures on the walls. Trouser press did not work.
My wife an i stayed only one night but wish it was more, the reception on arrival was very good,we met the owners father who was very nice. we had requested a top floor room as we have had bad experiences with noise above in some Hotels so was very pleased with room number one on the end of the block. The rooms are dated but large clean and comfortable, plenty of towels, good quality soap, and tea and coffee, we couldn't find out how to turn the tv on but a quick call on the phone to reception told us there was a switch above the bed. The room also has two chairs something Premiere Inn should take note of. The bed was firm with comfortable bedding. We tried the Black Lion pub opposite the Hotel but soon came back to the Hotel, and we are glad we did as it has a choice of three ales all very good as I can personally vouch for. The menu was varied but as it was Friday fish night we chose the beer battered cod, chips and peas it comes with a pint of beer or glass of wine or soft drink and either large or small portions, we chose large at £12.50 each and thought it excellent value, we thoroughly enjoyed it. Our nights sleep was disturbed a little by the heating pipes expanding, but we were snug and warm so it wasn't too bad. All in all we had a good experience and would definitely return when in the area.
Staff were friendly and helpful. Room was of a good standard for accommodation in this price range. Provided a good breakfast - including vegetarian sausages.
Would have been great if the cooked breakfast started a little earlier as I had to be away relatively early on this visit - but this is really a very minor criticism.
Bad and food very good
Friendly staff Comfy room
Confusion caused by asking for a single steak on "steak night"!
Plenty of parking and good location on a main route to Eastbourne.
Wi-fi at extra cost so did not use. Rooms are essentially old-style two tier motel rooms with revamped bathrooms and furnishings - not obvious when booking.
Very comfortable & spotless room- great Breakfast - very helpful friendly Staff. An experience I will certainly repeat whenever I am in the area.
Could not fault a thing !
The staff were really helpful and welcoming. The room was exceptionally clean and very nicely decorated and the bed was really comfortable. Breakfast was very tastes and there was a good selection of food.
The heating was left on all night, which I feel was unnecessary for this time of year. Also the shower was obviously connected to the other rooms as every few seconds it went from boiling hot to freezing cold.
Breakfast very good.
Quite a bit of noise from the traffic from the main road on a night and early morning.
Location and surroundings were fine. Breakfast was ok and served by pleasant staff
The room and en-suite are in need of significant renovation
Staff were excellent, breakfast fantastic and room very comfortable.
No issues whatsoever
Location of the hotel was a priority for me and the forge offered great location.
Size of rooms friendliness of owner was good but a man over his depth
emptiness of bar and diner
Staff, food, parking, a very central location for the area we wanted to visit.very clean room and comfortable.
Steps going to our room. Very hard to sleep because of traffic,we also found it to hot,so had to keep window open for air and to cool off.
It was very near the wedding venue,
It was a little noisy at night as it was so near to the main road
Lots of parking Looks nice Bar and food were ok Staff were ok but apparently understaffed so a bit snappy despite seeing them standing around..
First room - the bed was broken and yet still made up? Second room - issue with the door lock. Room not very clean. Very hot, couldnt open the windows much as lots of flying pests. If you opened the front windows you heard the main road clear as day. Double glazing would have helped... Food was ok but stodgy and looked microwaved. Breakfast was dire and was so put off i had a small bowl of cereal to appear polite. Showers didnt appear to have and regulators on them as both rooms had showers that went from bleeping hot to ice if seconds without any help. Helped wake me in the morning but not in a good way.
Lodge type rooms , park straight outside so not disturbing anyone
Not much variety for breakfast . Very poor
The Staff members were very helpful, Breakfast was really well presented, with the eggs being freshly cooked not left to go rubbery. After a very cold night at a nearby Barn Wedding,we got back to find the heating had been on earlier and the room was very cosy Reasonable price considering it was August Bank Holiday weekend
Room was a bit tired Shower tricky to use
The staff were great and very helpful
fairly convenient for Glyndebourne quiet and comfortable bedroom lots of parking
disorgsanised breakfast service dated decor and bathroom
