Good Grounds. Food was good.
Staff were a little matter-of-fact. Room was a little tatty.
The food was very good. Staff helpful and friendly.
Meal at the village tavern wa good
Prices of food and drink, cleanliness in all areas of hotel.... For example rooms needed properly cleaning and hoovered as there was cob webs everywhere Nd bits all over the carpet. Bathroom looked lovely but wasn't clean and shower pressure was rubbish
Very good value, good breakfast and very welcoming and helpful staff.
The pub that is linked to the Hotel is very friendly and staff are good
Uncomfortable bed asked for ground flooor given top floor! I know they do not have ground floor but as hotel was not busy surely a 1st floor room
Quiet location. Helpful Staff. Free Parking. Brilliant Breakfast.
Bedroom Dated. Bathroom OK but over bath shower was impossible to regulate temperature.
The grounds and the house were great and location
the place needs a complete re-furb wallpaper hanging of the walls, window frames need painting, toilet seat had a hole in it and in my bathroom the showing head was falling of the wall these are just to name a few things that needed repairing
Nice breakfast, good variety , pleasant staff at reception desk
Beds could be more comfortable , need to be changed out , springs are coming through, very small tv in room
Good place to stay at, spacious room and new bathroom suite. The garden looked beautiful.
Not great mattress, but not a problem for a night or two.
Location was quiet and the grounds were relaxing. Staff friendly and helpful
Bedroom dated and beds not vey comfortable which contrasts with the public areas which were ok.
Staff were really helpful. Food excellent. Quiet location in easy reach of A1M
Room could have been bigger for a double room. Lighting not very bright.
THE DATED RUN DOWN ROOMSGOO
Lovely Garden Setting. Guest Lounge. Very fair Single Room price. Own, but separate bathroom.
Bathroom separate from room.
The low prices offer value for money, the location is excellent, county house feel, large rooms with high ceilings, beautiful gardens. The eclectic collection of vintage furniture added character.
The shampoo was the "impossible to open" sachet. Reception had a pile of broken items from various rooms on display (this is both good that things are being fixed, and bad that this is the first impression on arrival).
The bed, the location.
Quite dirty, no tv remote, no working wifi in the rooms, the tv wasn't tuned in and is so old it took 20+ minutes, not all pillows had cases, quite grubby, staff are not placed to solve any of the above problems or offer a discount for the issues above. Really dissapointed.
Extremely friendly staff, décor & room excellent, very comfortable massive bed and beautiful surroundings
No pressure on shower
Reasonably priced food and very friendly staff. Great freshly cooked breakfast.
Difference in price for same beer in the Village Tavern to the hotel bar. £1.00 per pint difference inexcusable.
Staff very helpful and friendly. Extremely comfortable bed. Nice quiet location ideal for visiting Durham. Everywhere very clean.
Room very basic and tired looking. Thin walls.
Nice building and grounds. Gardens were lovely. Breakfast was good and plentiful. Staff were generally friendly and lady on reception seemed concerned when I told her in the morning that the shower had not worked the previous night.
Shower on night of arrival cold. 18th birthday party going on until midnight. Very noisy. No information provided so did not know what time breakfast was served. When I went to ask someone in the evening before, could not find anyone to ask. Although room was quite nicely decorated, did not like the damp looking corners of the walls/ceiling. Seemed too expensive. Not good value for money. Have stayed other hotels for half the money and had better sleep and felt less ripped off. All looks a bit tired and like it needs some serious money spent on it. Car park got huge potholes in it, the furniture was all a bit run down and needing rejuvenating, reception area was OK but rather lacklustre for the building.
Ermmmm........ The view in my rear view mirror as I left
Restaurant closed due to function. Afternoon tea unavailable due to function Unable to sit outside as wedding in full swing Mattress was lumpy with broken springs Furniture tired Room in need of decoration Manageress failed to contact me after I left a message for her to do so.
The previous occupant's wet towels were on the floor propping the door open when I arrived
Friendly staff, good breakfast, clean rooms, fab shower, great location
Yes the hotel could do with a re-furb but for the price you pay it is excellent value
Nice location with gardens to relax in, out of the way and nice views.
no tv remote so went to turn on manually when I found no ariel attached. Entire stay this was not rectified, was offered to sit in a single room for a little whileto watch tv. Not impressed to say the least and walls are like cardboard could hear next room breathing.
Food good, staff vey pleasant
Parts of the hotel are very shabby and need a good clean. Entire hotel needs redecorated
Lovely gardens Nice pint Nice and quiet
Slightly dated rooms
