Lovely gardens, lovely staff, lovely rooms, wonderful all round
Location, breakfast, public rooms all very good. Efficient and friendly staff. Bed very clean and comfortable. Very handy for Durham, and big car park.
Bedroom and bathroom clean but tired. No wi-fi upstairs, and we couldn't get the TV to work (but we didn't try very hard, and didn't ask for help).
It was in a handy location for us attending a family birthday party. The staff were friendly and helpful and the breakfast was delicious.
The price and better than staying in a travelodge . The setting was very nice old manor house and plenty of parking. The evening meal 2 course for £9.50 good value and breakfast was well presented and hot will go back .
Having to go outside hotel in the rain to go to pub bar no walk through from dining room .
Friendly helpful staff nothing too much trouble
Lack of wi-fi in rooms
Location was excellent, very quiet and close to where my meeting was. Staff very friendly and helpful, Food was vey good at a reasonable price. Room very warm and the bed extremely comfortable. Good sized room.
The bathroom was rather tired looking and was in need of modernising. The taps on the bath didn't work and I had to fill the bath from the shower. The carpet in the room was rather dirty looking and stained, curtains didn't really fit the window but this wouldn't deter me staying again.
going with some of their reviews it sounded that they had groundfloor rooms which we asked for when booking we don't think it disable friendly which spoiled our break although the staff are very helpful we had to cut our holiday short
excellent freshly cooked breakfast
Location Good breakfast Friendly staff
The building was lovely but a little tired.
Needed some TLC
Impressive building. Staff pleasant and helpful
Room facilities inconvenient. Had to crawl under table to plug in kettle and scramble to plug in TV. No room light apparent - one switch did not appear to turn on any light. Side of bed light could not illuminate room.
The breakfast and the staff were very helpful.
The beds, the pillows. The place whole place is in need of a good clean and some attention to detail.
Nice rooms, spacious, clean, had some character the them. Good size tv and lovely bathroom facilities.
The fact you could not order food to your room. The night porter was extremely rude to me and my partner when we had asked the question. The hotel handbook does not inform you that you cannot order & also says you can have room service so I do not see the difference in having that in your room or food of your choice. The downstairs of the hotel was practically empty so it was not welcoming enough to even eat in the hotel itself. We went out for a meal at our own expense because the hotel could not be flexible to fit the needs of a young couple staying in their hotel. Definitely let the whole experience down considerably.
Location and food was good.
The rooms were not clean, bath was not cleaned and room cold. No control of the heating.
Best bed I've slept in for ages.... Beats the premier beds.
Staff were friendly and accommodating. Although travelling on my own I requested a double room however received a phone call from a member of staff very soon after booking giving me the option of taking the single room at a reduced price as the tv in the double room wasn't working. I was grateful for this as the tv was more of a priority than the double bed. The bed was clean and very comfortable.
The building is situated in lovely surroundings and is very impressive from the outside however is rather tired looking on the inside. The room I was staying in was desperately in need of decorating and the curtains being replaced.
Breakfast satisfactory Room comfortable
Bar meal poor, and restaurant empty and in darkness- not encouraging! Tough dry steak Only one poor pale bitter Other bitter chilled Red wine glass the end of two bottles on bar- awful old stale wine
Food very good. Staff in restaurant very good.
Broken shower! Noise from room above due to loose floorboards. Furniture not in keeping with room!
Very good staff and breakfast also nice bedroom with comfy bed
Not a lot although I would say that the bedroom was clean and warm.
Bed uncomfortable. Night noises, mainly from a series of car alarms. Room lights too dim to read, Shower didn't work. Three menus belied the food on offer. Chips cooked in cold fat.
The old fashioned, traditional feel of the place!
Lack of wifi on upper floors;(
The Manor is a lovely old building decorated beautifully for the Christmas period. The staff were friendly and helpful and I enjoyed my meal. Good value for money.
Bedroom was comfortable the bathroom in need of a refit. I would suggest if you don't have lots of quests put them in a better room, 3 flights of stairs was not appreciated.
The staff were very friendly and helpful. The food was good as was the service in the restaurant. Value for money
The hotel is generally dated and in need of repair. The en-suite did not have a shower and the hand shower provided did not work.
Rude staff, very dirty rooms even my duvet had dust on it. No wifi anywhere are from one corner of the bar. In my last 15 years of travelling this is by far the worst hotel I have ever stayed in.
bar never opened until 5pm on the Saturday,no outlet for a coffee either.dingy bathroom,2nd floor of the hotel def requires a bit of money spent on it
