Nice breakfast, good variety , pleasant staff at reception desk
Beds could be more comfortable , need to be changed out , springs are coming through, very small tv in room
Good place to stay at, spacious room and new bathroom suite. The garden looked beautiful.
Not great mattress, but not a problem for a night or two.
Location was quiet and the grounds were relaxing. Staff friendly and helpful
Bedroom dated and beds not vey comfortable which contrasts with the public areas which were ok.
Staff were really helpful. Food excellent. Quiet location in easy reach of A1M
Room could have been bigger for a double room. Lighting not very bright.
THE DATED RUN DOWN ROOMSGOO
Lovely Garden Setting. Guest Lounge. Very fair Single Room price. Own, but separate bathroom.
Bathroom separate from room.
The low prices offer value for money, the location is excellent, county house feel, large rooms with high ceilings, beautiful gardens. The eclectic collection of vintage furniture added character.
The shampoo was the "impossible to open" sachet. Reception had a pile of broken items from various rooms on display (this is both good that things are being fixed, and bad that this is the first impression on arrival).
Extremely friendly staff, décor & room excellent, very comfortable massive bed and beautiful surroundings
No pressure on shower
Staff very helpful and friendly. Extremely comfortable bed. Nice quiet location ideal for visiting Durham. Everywhere very clean.
Room very basic and tired looking. Thin walls.
The previous occupant's wet towels were on the floor propping the door open when I arrived
Friendly staff, good breakfast, clean rooms, fab shower, great location
Yes the hotel could do with a re-furb but for the price you pay it is excellent value
Nice location with gardens to relax in, out of the way and nice views.
no tv remote so went to turn on manually when I found no ariel attached. Entire stay this was not rectified, was offered to sit in a single room for a little whileto watch tv. Not impressed to say the least and walls are like cardboard could hear next room breathing.
Food good, staff vey pleasant
Parts of the hotel are very shabby and need a good clean. Entire hotel needs redecorated
Lovely gardens Nice pint Nice and quiet
Slightly dated rooms
Quiet location with easy access to Durham.Beautiful dining room and service
Heavy rainstorm during the night caused a drip!
Pleasant helpful reception staff. Good quality food in an ideal setting.
Rooms require a little TLC.ie paintwork on windows, dated décor.
Location is ideal to access Durham City
We stayed at Hallgarth Manor many years ago, and the rooms could do with an overhaul! Breakfast menu was not particularly inviting. Guests do not want to eat microwaved scrambled eggs!
It was good to have such a nice garden to sir out in to relax with a drink
The price was reasonable , the food was good.
Room descriptions. I didn't expect a huge room but the bathroom and shower were the smallest I have ever seen, the shower cubicle was so small I could only just about reach my arms up to wash my hair, just be aware if you are not of a slim build. There was no food or drinks available throughout the day (except tea and coffee in the room) this was not communicated, there is a pub next door but it doesn't open until 5pm which when it is open seems to take all the attention of the usually only one member of the bar staff, so waiting to be served in the evening was most annoying, also there was a wait at breakfast as again only one girl serving ,one gentleman was about to go and get his own he had waited so long. The decor in the rooms was quite tired.
Location and restaurant
Unable to open bedroom window
The food The grounds
The rooms need a revamp The bed was too small And not comfortable The staff have a habit of putting clean towels on the floor This is not a good practice They also rushed me out my room
Needs a revamp
Food was good, bed comfortable, helpful staff on reception
No handset for TV even when asked. Poor and inexperienced service in restaurant. Hotel looked in need of a makeover, some very shabby furniture in room.
Woken at 6.15 by lawn movers making enormous noise outside our windows. Not happy! Was told it was done early because one of the Gardeners was going on holiday and needed to catch a plane. Er and what part of that us my problem?
Location good. Staff jut so so helpful and kind
A bit tired in places but that added to the character
