The hotel has lovely grounds. It is situated in the countryside but is within a few minutes drive of Durham. |

The gardens. The staff were very friendly and helpfull. The loose headboards that banged all the time. fan not working in the bathroom and the lack of definition for some of the rooms, ie tables in the bar, no definate lounge and so you were interrupting diners in the bar and had to keep passing them to get out into the garden. |

The hotel reception staff were very helpful. The hotel is in a very beautiful location and we enjoyed very much sitting outside in the gardens. |

This hotel is quite old fashioned and it is unusual for me to stay in a single room that actually has a single bed. However, the room was clean and had free WiFi. The staff were very friendly. |

The hotel was close to Durham and the room had been recently renovated and the shower room was comfortable. Lovely gardens. The entrance is unimposing with a dangerous (albeit with warning) step. |

I found my short stay, very peacefull and relaxing. A pleasant change to be away from the hussle and bussle of town/city hotels. Everything was to my satisfaction. I would like to think I would visit again sometime. |

Food and reception by staff was very good Hotel needs some re-decoration. Toilet needed some attention to make it flush. TV remote did not work regularly |

relaxing and convenient location to explore the North East. Lovely grounds to sit out in. Bottled water as well as tea and coffee a nice touch. Windows need to be double glazed and digital tv would be good. Staff always seem stressed and not enough of them. New matresses on beds would be good. Need access to the pub through the hotel. |

very good restaurant. £49.50 for 3 course meal for two including bottle of wine was excellent high standard well cooked and presented meal. Breakfast very good. General attitude - notes around room etc unwelcoming and a bit hostile. Rephrasing so they were not so abrasive would have been better |

The location was great enabling easy access to the town cente and other locations we wanted to visit, yet set in countryside The friendly atmosphere in the hotel plus the Tavern Inn. Comfortable parking. Reception staff eager to please. Thankyou all. No lift to top floors..In need of some repairs/modernisation |

Lovely crisp bed linen, I liked the individual pieces of furniture. Delicious breakfast, excellent bacon and sausage. Staff a little rushed at breakfast, but good quick service. The windows in the restaurant need cleaning with water and vinegar. |
