Godalming is an attractive small town on the edge of the Surrey Hills. We’re regular visitors, our daughter and family live there. The area around the high street has some good shops, nice restaurants, pubs and it seems like there’s a new coffee shop opening each week.

An interesting little town that has retained much of its character despite morphing into another notch in the London commuter belt. The centre has some good independent shops. The park has a poignant memorial to the radio operator on the Titanic. The meadows next to the Wey navigation offer pleasant walks. The woods at Winkworth arboretum are spectacular all year round. Road and rail links to London and the south coast are very good.

I know NOTHING about Godalming - apart from the fact that it has a branch of Waitrose and that booking.com has decided that we stayed there - we were actually on the outskirts of a village called Compton, nearest main town Guildford.

We travelled to spend time with relatives in Godalming. Should you wish to travel to London Central, it can be easily done from Godalming or Farncombe rail stations +/- 40 mins. A visit to Guildford for extended shopping can be achieved easily by car or public transport.

The King’s Arms was fine for an overnight stay.
The King’s Arms was fine for an overnight stay. The hotel is located on the high street and whilst the hotel has parking spaces at the back of the building, they are limited.
Our room was small but had been recently refurbished, as was the bathroom, to a high standard. Nice finishing touches in the room for guests staying longer; books, playing cards and a wooden noughts and crosses board as well as tv and well stocked tea and coffee making facilities.
Breakfast was delicious served by friendly staff.
The only negative point was the room was very hot but thankfully we were able to open the window.
We would consider staying again for an overnight stay.
Comfortable apartment in a good location in the centre of Godalming main street. It was well furnished, comfortable bed and clean. Also very quiet which was nice given its location. There were reverse air con units in each room so nice and warm. Wi-fi was good. Kitchen was clean and had everything included although we didn't actually use it apart from making tea. The price was competitive for the time of year and if that was the case in the future we would stay again.
Great location and suited our stay in town for a family wedding perfectly. The staff was very, very friendly and went above and beyond on several occasions to ensure we had what we needed, even going so far as to setting out breakfast very early on our check out day because they knew we had to be off ahead of the normal breakfast time. The restaurant and pub areas are beautiful and served as a great socializing area for our family and friends between wedding events.
Breakfast was amazing…..freshly cooked and top quality food.lovely dining/pub area .
Friendly staff who go out of their way to help with any problems or concerns.
Superior deluxe room that we stayed in on second night was spacious with little balcony ….bathroom was huge….husband raved about the amazing bath!
Impressed to see that my concerns about previous nights stay had been taken on board and addressed. Thank you
The Withies Inn is the quintessential English countryside inn and pub experience. The pub is warm and inviting with delicious food and drink, fireside seating, local flavor and an authentic pub ambience. The rooms are beautifully appointed with lush bedding and towels. The proprietor, Hugh, and his team are friendly and professional. I highly recommend The Withies Inn for your next visit to Surrey.
We booked 2 apartments at Pound Corner and they were very clean, comfortable and had everything we needed for a perfect stay. Our host Ros was very helpful and kind. We enjoyed walking to Godalming, popping into the Cricketers for a pint or 2, or having a yummy curry down the road, making the location of this property perfect for us. We will definitely stay here again.
Withies far exceeded our expectations. The rooms are nicely updated and comfortable while the restaurant and bar remain authentic and historic. Hugh and his team could not have been more welcoming. Breakfast was one of the best we had in England. We would definitely stay again.
We received a warm welcome upon our arrival, checking in was very efficient, the breakfast was very good and the service was excellent. Of particular note was the professionalism of the lady in charge of breakfast whose attention was on a par with a five star hotel.
Quite a well appointed hotel just a short walk from centre of Godalming. Staff extremely welcoming. Lovely evening meal with relatives.
Very comfortable bed and lovely sized room with a good shower.
As historic architectural preservationist I was very impressed with beautifully restored building. Modern comforts paired kindly with historic details made for a very comfortable, inviting space.
The room was good for a single person, the bed was comfortable, and there is small ensuite bathroom. The Rose and Crown is pretty much in the centre of Godalming near to pubs and restaurants.
Located in the central of Godalming, near train station, bus stop, shops and restaurants. Easy and convenient to go to Winkworth Arboretum. A perfect place to stay in Godalming.
Convenient location, close to the centre of Godalming and easy to get out and explore the surrounding area. Clean and comfortable. Very easy check in with clear instructions.
The hotel was well situated close to the A3, and [as a single room] was value for money as most available rooms in the area were double rate. The room had lots of character,
This Hotel was very revently renovated. The rooms were beautiful. The bathrooms were new and well equipped. Breakfast and lunch were very good with very good service.
Lovely 17th century pub / restaurant/ hotel. Room was spacious and comfortable. Evening meals were excellent. Couple of local real ales which were lovely.
