friendly staff, clean rooms, only a 20 minute walk to City Centre
the walls in the rooms not attached to the main lodge were not very sound proof, could hear other guests - anything more than a normal talking voice.
Lovely stay with great welcoming service. Will be recommending and using again. Thankyou
Comfortable B&B in a convenient location
Easy access on ground floor , I liked the availability of fresh milk in a flask to have in my room. Easy parking and access to the city. Pillows comfortable. Staff friendly.
shower room rather small
room & breakfast, & staff were very friendly
good location, not far from colleges. Staff were informative, quality bedding.
my bathroom did not appear to have been cleaned and the room was in need of redecoration. Breakfast was a disappointment, obviously pre-cooked.
Good breakfast food and friendly staff. Very clean and nice room too.
The street was very noisy but that can't be helped.
Great cooked breakfast, full English, omelettes, as requested. Otherwise breakfast more limited (cereal, yoghurt, juice) but perfectly adequate. Tea/coffee facility in room with fresh milk available at all times.
Friendly staff. Good English breakfast.
WIFI in rooms did not work well. Lodge did not answer my email on bus routes to hotel.
Location, friendly staff
Room was very clean but had a musty smell.
Rooms were well laid out. Staff helpful and polite. Respected our privacy but remained available when needed. A pleasant stay.
Good value breakfast. Convenient Carparking.
Single bed was warn out with some protruding springs.
There breakfast was amazing although a little bit too early for the leisure travel (7.30-9.00) every day. The shower water was really massive.
We stayed on the top floor which was really far away from the shared toilet and shower. The hotel should have specified this in the offer.
Nice walk to town center through park. Near to all sightseeing. Very friendly and helpful staff, good breakfast, free car park at the rear. Will definitely recommend it.
Friendly attentive staff. Nice room. Great Breakfast. Good transport links into town. Great value.
Friendly helpful staff, wide variety of choice for breakfast. Good location for city centre, approximately 20 minute walk through park. Ample off street parking. Reasonable value for money.
Position of room meant lots of noise from other guests opening and closing doors to get to bathroom. Décor needed some attention to the on- suite.
breakfast and breakfast room
we stayed in chalet in car park, but we did book late. chalet dated; felt like butlins.
Although not "downton" Cambridge it is within reasonable walking distance of historical city centre and river Cam; shops & pubs nearby. Very nice, clean, comfortable facility; good service, kind & helpful staff, excellent English breakfast menu. Not cheap but within the ballpark and definitely worth it!
Staff were very friendly and helpful. Breakfast was very good for the additional £5.00, the only disappointment was kippers on menu but not available. Fresh milk in fridge available over 24 hours. Located a 15-20 min walk from centre. Parking facilities were good but you may get blocked in when busy. Bed comfy, slept well.
Shower not fit for purpose, gravity fed and you'd be better off standing in the rain however, there was a shower room for guests not en suite and that was better. Tea and coffee was not replenished. Room looked like it needed a good hoover but the bathroom and bedding were clean. A mould problem in the corner of the room.
The Hamilton Lodge was bigger than I had expected and run like a hotel, not a guest house as I had expected. Although not in the centre of Cambridge, the city centre is within easy reach of the hotel. I was able to cycle along the river Cam to the centre in under 10 minutes. My single room was on the 3rd floor and was part of the roof space. This meant the room was a little short of headroom in places. Other than that, the room was clean, comfortable and provided everything I required, including a sink, TV and tea making facilities. As the room was at the front of the hotel I found it best to keep the window closed to reduce the traffic noise. The shared toilet was on the second floor, and the shared shower was on the 3rd floor. Both were adequate. Breakfast was served in a large breakfast room on the ground floor. There was a good selection of cereals, fruit juices and yogurt. There was also filtered coffee and a choice of speciality teas. The generous full English breakfast included good quality sausages and thick sliced bacon. There were other cooked options that included; kippers, omelets and cheese on toast. The food was lovely, nicely presented and served by efficient and helpful staff. If decor is your thing, I think it's fair to say the hotel could could do with tidying up in places. However, keep in mind the price of your stay. I found the room rate to be very good for the service provided, especially for Cambridge. I would definitely consider staying at Hamilton Lodge again. Room Tip: The front rooms are facing onto a fairly busy road, so some traffic noise should be expected.
Nothing worth talking about.
The location is fantastic. The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful. The duvet was lovely and warm.
The bed was SO creaky is made a terrible noise when you turned over so didn't sleep very well. The shower had a little bit of mildew in it and the decor is very dated.
Value for money and good breakfast. Not too far from city centre.
Velux windows badly need replacing - mould around window as the seal has gone and in my friend's room the handle had been broken off so window couldn't be closed. Generally could do with a bit of an update. It is noisy at night if you are at the front of the property as near a busy roundabout.
Breakfast very good. Staff friendly. Fresh milk for morning tea available.
Outside of building could have looked a bit more welcoming, a few flowers make a difference, hanging baskets? Side passage to walk round to Annexe needed some TLC. In nice weather be nice to be able to sit outside of room somewhere.
Staff were excellent, location good for us
there was nothing i didnt like
very old furniture in my room
